Too much South Florida.......2007-06-02
I bought this book for ideas on Luxury Homes in general. I have lived all over the US, as well as parts of Europe. This book will please you if you want to build a home in South Florida . . . that looks like the other homes in South Florida. Otherwise, like me, you will be dissappointed. In other words, Dan Sater lacks variety in his style.
Its really sad, because even within the borders of FL, there are a great many other styles to represent. Again, if you want to keep up with the Joneses in Boca, this is your book.
Great book of dreams.......2007-02-20
Even though the houses in this book are well outside my price range, it is fun to look at them.
Sater's Luxury Home Plans.......2007-01-10
Absolutley wonderful book of home plans. Numerous interior designs that are outstanding. If you call Dan Sater Luxury Home Plan Office they are the most gracious to work with.
GREAT FLOOR PLANS.......2006-07-11
HE IS ONE OF THE BEST DESIGNERS I HAVE EVER SEEN!
Inspiring Designs.......2005-07-31
Definitively one of the most beautiful books about dream home plans, measuring from 2723 to 8088 square feet, 101 designs, of which 57 are featured with lots of real full color photos of actual homes already built, unlike the majority of other books in which they only present about 5 to 10 real homes.
Add the beauty of architectural art, and for the price you have a bargain.

disappointed.......2007-07-16
I never send anything back but I am sending this book back. I was very disappointed in the content of the book. A portion of it was from 'The Early Years' which was a bit dated for me. And I am just not really a fan of the Sater style...for high-end custom homes, they look a bit canned in places. Anyway, if you are a fan of this builder and just want a pictorial of his work, this is the book for you. If you are trying to get ideas for a home I would move on to something else.
A Must-Have Book!!!.......2006-08-01
This is the ultimate book for luxury designs. I have searched all over for books and house designs that gives the luxury and well-planned design of a dream home and this book gives plenty. If you had to choose just one of Dan Sater's books, this is the one to get.
Beautiful Collection of Homes!.......2006-03-14
This book is a perfect source for inspiration. It has some beautiful luxury homes with floor plans, renderings and many gorgeous photos. I was impressed with the creative floor plans and exteriors. I recommend this book to anyone looking for ideas to design a new custom home!

Book Description
European Luxury Home Plans presents a fresh portfolio of plans drawn from the ageless character of classical Old World architecture. The styles conceived here to be classic speak softly of an American heritage, inspired over time by four regions of influence-Italian, French, English and Spanish. Scale and proportion as they are iterated in ancient dialects translate evenly to the incomparable beauty found in this collection of homes.
At once rugged and refined, each of these houses displays an intimate connection with the land, forming powerful mergers between walls and what surround them. Clay-tile roofs, sun-baked stone and rough stucco are subdued by open, airy interiors and breathtaking views. Rambling, joie de vivre porches and sandals-only courtyards balance well-defined rooms and an air of formality.
Created by the Sater Design Collection, here are stunning designs that "Redefine Tradition". These homes offer flexible living environments that meet the needs of today's busy lifestyles, but reflect a European character with timeless appeal.
Customer Reviews:
Disappointed!.......2007-06-13
The cover claims that there are 65 floorplans, but its more like 22. The same floor plans are shown with different facades for each section. I also would have hoped that the photographs from the front of the book would have been from homes built using the various floorplans, but from what I can tell none of the pictures correspond to a floorplan. Which is too bad, considering the homes pictured were what I was looking for.
The renderings are beautifully done, but hardly worth the price.
You may want to consider another title before you purchase this one.
Cookie Cutter.......2004-09-28
Very disappointed. The designs are simply ranch style homes with barrel-tile roofs. The book is divided into four sections: Italian, French, English and Spanish but they are literally the same plans in all sections with just simple modifactions to the front facade. Worse yet, most designs mix elements from all styles. You get a simple floor plan with a watercolor elevation that is often not completely reflective of the design. I particularly noticed that most designs had very large garages that are not rendered proportionally. If you are looking for unique designs that are true to the architecture of Europe this is not the book to buy. If you just want a "Spanish Look" to a ranch design this book offers nothing different than what you can find in the check out line of the local super-market. There is nothing unique or authentic in this book.
European Excitement!.......2004-01-13
This book of European home plans is what I've come to expect from The Sater Design Collection, absolutely fabulous home designs! The attention to detail of each plan offered was clearly evident. I paticularly liked the open flowing floor plans. The designs seemed to bring the best of classical exterior styling with modern amenities.
I've picked my dream home, its plan no. 8043.

Early 20Th-Century German Plays (German Library)
ASIN: 0300085265 |
Book Description
This critical anthology of avant-garde drama offers comprehensive coverage of that distinctively twentieth-century tradition. It includes the full texts of sixteen important plays, each preceded by a historical-critical introduction and followed by an essay, often written by the playwright, that elaborates on the dramatic and aesthetic issues raised by the play. Cardullo and Knopf, in making plays and documents of the avant-garde available in one collection for the first time, underscore the place and importance of the movement.
In a provocative general introduction to the book, Bert Cardullo traces the history of the avant-garde tradition and argues for a revisionist history of modern drama that would acknowledge the innovative contributions of the avant-garde. The anthology, which presents examples of French and Russian Symbolism, Italian Futurism, German Expression-ism, and Dada-Surrealism, as well as work by such seminal figures as Jarry, Strindberg, Artaud, and Kandinsky, illuminates the astonishing daring of these writers from many Western countries and diverse theatrical movements.
Customer Reviews:
Recommended for college-level collections.......2001-08-10

Recommended for college-level collections with in-depth theatre and art history sections.

Book Description
The definitive visual diary of the New York club scene in the seventies, Disco Years presents an astounding collection of photographs from America's premier nightlife photographer, Ron Galella. His candid shots of the era's fabulous fashionistas, indulgent rock idols, outlandish artists, mystical muses, jet-setting socialities, and fantastic freaks reveal the delicious decadence that defined the decade.
Disco Years brings us the high life, literally and figuratively. Featuring unforgettable photographs of Andy Warhol, Elizabeth Taylor, Halston, Steve Rubell, Ian Schrager, Liza Minnelli, Grace Jones, Madonna, Diane von Furstenberg, Mick and Bianca Jagger, Keith Richards, Truman Capote, Gloria Vanderbilt, Dolly Parton, Brooke Shields, Cher, Raquel Welch, David Bowie, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Michael Jackson, and John Belushi, among countless others, Disco Years takes us back to a time when skiing was an indoor activity, velvet ropes were high security, and incredible style was the only requirement.
Customer Reviews:
Disco inferno still burning after all these years.......2006-12-14
"[Galella's] strongest period was the 1970's when his reality-based photography style was in perfect sync with that decade's gritty approach to filmmaking, a time when Hollywood had largely discarded the sugar-coated schmaltz of 50's and 60's artifice....Here is a startled Bette Midler looking behind her shoulder at the Grammy Awards, her askew tiara making her look like a lost, overgrown trick-or-treater. Alfred Hitchcock at the premiere of his film Family Plot wearing a stony, zombie-like expression that recalls Tor Johnson's performance in Plan 9 From Outer Space. A pre-Saturday Night Fever John Travolta already basking in fame, a crowd of fans restrained mere inches away and behaving as if Travolta's then unadulterated charisma had driven them to fits of ecstasy. And a miniscule Herve Villechaize ducking under a velvet rope at the Golden Globe awards like a mischievous gremlin hell-bent on carrying out acts of sabotage on the glamorous proceedings. Despite Galella's cinema verite hand, there is a persistent dream-like quality that emerges throughout the book. There are moments when the images almost threaten to tumble into a vortex where reality and fantasy merge - like the spiraling narrative of the amnesiac actress in Mulholland Drive, David Lynch's savagely surreal commentary on Tinseltown. Of all the visions in Galella's work, however, the most sobering seems to be the reminder of the ephemeral nature of fame and flesh."

Book Description
"Voyeur. Bandit. Hound. Ron Galella has been called every name in the book. In 1955, fresh out of the United States Air Force, he became a paparazzo--and redefined the genre. From his notoriously obsessive treatment of Jackie Onassis and the subsequent legal battles associated with it, to his alarmingly beautiful photographs of celebrities in the 60s and 70s, Galella has always been in a category of his own. Possessed of a unique talent to catch stars at moments when they seemed most alive, most human, most stylish, Galella was able to do something no other celebrity watcher was able to do: become a star himself."
Customer Reviews:
The Best.......2007-03-08
This is a great book. Ron Galella took very chic, very flattering black and white photos of STARS when the world actually had STARS - not the tabloid trash that we have today. Great printing and art direction - a classic.

Book Description
Ron Galella defines paparazzi. Presented here are approximately 150 images from the American photographer's extensive archive of famous people caught unawares, posing for the camera, hiding from the camera, loving the attention (as evidenced by open smiles), or hating it (as evidenced by outstretched palms or raised middle fingers). Galella has always tried to capture the moments when these stars come down from their gilded pedestals to become persons. This collection of images is accompanied by often-hilarious diary entries from Galella--how he got the images, where they were taken, what the public's reaction was to seeing their favorite stars in person. A lot of material is covered here--cities like New York, Hollywood, Las Vegas feature stars like Andy Warhol, Barbara Streisand, Jackie Onassis, Cher, Sammy Davis, Jr., John Travolta, Frank Sinatra, Warren Beatty, and numerous others. Galella's Nikon has captured them all.
