Customer Reviews:
Great introduction for children to FLW's work .......2007-01-10
I used this coloring book in conjunction with an art/ art history lesson on Frank Lloyd Wright's architecture and stained glass windows. The final colored pages look great no matter the skill level of the child because the black lines "hide" where some may color "outside the lines." I used the book with first graders.
Frank Lloyd Wright Stained Glass Designs.......2006-01-18
If you're a fan of Frank Lloyd Wright architecture and art, or if you like stained glass art, this coloring book can inspire your own designs. A few hours with a copy machine and some colored pencils can produce personally customized drawings for use in your own home. I recommend this book to the designers, and budding graphic artists in the crowd.
CASEY's FLLW Artglass books are the best out there, period!.......2004-12-29
I personally have spoken several times with Mr. Casey over the telephone. I've made some of the designs which are easy to work from in his books and he is very upfront about the glass availabilities, where to get the caming - - which the smallest triangular caming is no longer available as he's aware also from source in Chicago. Their machine die's are worn and no longer make accurate runs of it. I had to use next largest size. The results are very nice and worth it.
I'm glad someone with the abilitiy to do 'architecturally' accurate drawings took the time to do so and with the accuracy of ZEUS....Dennis is wonderful. We hope only to someday find any one of the over 150+ panels and over 80 sets of french doors done in artglass from the Midway Gardens project torn down after the prohibition years. The colors were clear, red, white, black however the exact orientation of the colors is left up to some interpretation. I've tried to get closer by comparing known photos of the multiple sets of panel types & sizes used along with the actual designs as drawn by Mr. Wright which vary in detail some from the completed glasswork done in Chicago. The Glass maker is still unknown but assumed as one of the larger in town and the drawings from their firms no longer exist to anyones knowledge so far in researching this now for several years. Should anyone out there actually possess one of these panels or door panels please contact one of the larger collections in the country for exhibiting it. None have ever been found or known about in the art world so far.
PLEASE add this book and Dennis' other books to your collection if you are a serious ARTGLASS and Frank Lloyd Wright buff. I highly recommend them. bravo ---encore please Dennis!
Excellent resource for glass designs!.......2003-07-22
I love this design book! While I was student teaching I used it to explain the layout that Wright used for his stained glass windows. Students could copy the designs to regular sheets of paper and then color them they way they wanted to. This book contains designs on vellum paper..not regular pulp paper, thus creating the "window" look. This is an excellent resource for teachers and students!
Great source for stained glass!.......2003-02-18
I just took my first stained glass class, and I was looking for a pattern book of designs that I actually LIKED, as opposed to the schmaltzy stuff that is so easy to come by. I own a bungalow, and I love Frank Lloyd Wright, so this was perfect for me. It's also fairly easy for beginners, because most of the patterns have only straight lines - no curves.
There are only a few colored examples, but if you're familiar with Wright's work, or if you're creative enough to come up with your own colors, this is a great resource! I was just so happy to find this! I really didn't want to spend hours creating unicorns & rainbows!

fun people in art clay.......2007-05-29
this is a fun project one both young and young at heart will enjoy. Mom if you want a project you and your childern can do together, this is it. What a great feeling when you see the finished friend your child created. They will want to do more and more. It is very additive.
This is the book to buy!.......2007-05-24
Polymer clay figures are difficult to make at first, but the book is easy to understand and entertaining to read. The author discusses topics from choosing clays and tools to learning to see the different shapes of faces and body proportions. She includes a variety of facial shapes to practice, with step by step guidance. There is no confusion and loads of clever ideas for caricatures. There is also a chapter on problems and solutions. I am working on caricatures of my family right now, and I don't know of another book that could be as helpful as this one. I am very pleased with it. I have a few others, but this is the one that I recommend to friends, and basically the only one I need.
Family and Friends in Polymer Clay.......2006-09-16
Whether you are a beginning sculptor, or an experienced doll maker, this book is a good one to have on your reference shelf.
The artist has a playful way of explaining/showing you how to do things, and the step-by-step color photographs are really helpful. She even shows you how to make tools from common everyday things you'll find around the house.
I was impressed by her ability to sculpt perfect caracatures of her friends and family. There was no mistaking who it was when you saw the finished sculpt along side the photo of her person.
Enjoyable book.
Excellent book with all the info. you'll need!.......2006-05-16
In this book, Maureen Carlson presents all of the information you will need to get started at making either figurines or art dolls . . . or both!
Not limited to friends and family, the book contains basic information you can work from to also create your own characters. The information can be overwhelming if you just page through the book, but the author's fun tone and excellent photography work hand in hand to create a text that truly welcomes you into what should become a fulfilling hobby.
I especially appreciate her focus on how everyday items probably already within your home will work just as well as the more expensive tools available in craft stores. So be sure NOT to stock up on supplies while waiting to receive the shipment of your book from Amazon!
My one "complaint" is that the author focuses so much on her more mature friends and family. It would be nice to have more examples and instruction relating to children and babies.
The Best.......2005-08-10
If you are going to purchase only book on how to make dolls, faces, hands, feet in polymer clay this is the book that you want. It is the best to date that i have seen. Buy it. You will not regret it.
Customer Reviews:
Great for Beginners.......2001-09-08
Perfect book for the beginner in the world of early photography. Details each type of early photo, describes the process used to make it, and explains how to identify it. The author also shares tips on buying: what to look for, what's exceptional, and what to avoid. Gives prices and lots of great picture examples, and details restoration efforts that beginners can and should do, as well as what NOT to do. Loved it and would highly recommend!
Great information source.......2001-04-14
This book was great. I collect cabinet cards. They are not as collectible as other forms of photographs, and that makes it very hard to find good information. This book was very helpful. It gave me information to date them, and which one are rare, uncommon, and unusual.
Not the definitive source, but close........2001-03-21
I was blessed with a box full of old photographs, including some that I called "daguerreotypes", really not knowing what they were. I still have the photos in storage, but after reading this book, and having it on hand to refer to, I feel confident that I will be able to properly identify the photos. Most of these are from the mid 19th to early 20th century and this book covers this period exactly.
A definitive reference for the collector and scholar..........2000-03-26
This is a marvelous book. It is chock-full of information on the various photographic processes of the early 19th century. It takes us from cased images (daguerreotypes, ambrotypes, tintypes) to photography on paper (calotypes, wet plates, albumen prints, cartes de viste, cabinet cards, sterographs) to late 19th century processes (dry plate, silver prints, platinum prints) and has a special section on US Civil War images. An exhaustive reference sure to please.
Excellent Book.......1999-07-02
This has it all. I've seen a read a lot of collectable type books and this is the best. It contains everything you need to know about early photographs. This doesn't just tell you the prices but explains why certain photographs are valuable and all the history too.

Customer Reviews:
Majority was on Fox and Parrish prints only........2003-02-05
I was mislead by the title, I thought I was getting hundreds of
artist and examples of their prints, but the book is on Parrish and Fox with a couple of other artist thrown in. Not at all what I was
looking for.
Excellent Book an American Prints.......1999-08-07
This book covers 6 american artists from the turn of the century and includes important facts for each. It covers prices, condition, histories of the artists and much, much more. I like the way the book is laid out, it is easy to follow and understand. I judge collecting type books on how much I can learn and retain and I have learned a lot from this one. I highly recommend this one.

Reviewer's Comments.......1998-07-12
In Search of Susanna is a remarkable transgeneric experiment in life writing, a densely textured "word quilt" in Bunkers' words, testifying to the author's passionate determination not only to reclaim her family past but to affirm a vital future for the female descendants who look back to Susanna and discover themselves." --William L. Andrews, University of North Carolina.
Reviewer's Comments:.......1998-07-12
"In Search of Susanna is a lovely weaving together of threads from the ancestral past to tell a story of the present and future. The Susanna sought in this book--and beautifully evoked--is not only Suzanne Bunkers' great-great-grandmother but the author and her daughter as well. No one restores to us the lives of women across generations as gracefully and as movingly as Suzanne Bunkers."--James Olney, Editor, Southern Review

Book Description
High school. It may be the time of one’s life or a nightmare that darkens one’s footsteps for the rest of life. The choices made, the friends made, the relationships broken or reconciled—all will indirectly determine the internal growth that must occur during this transition between childhood and adulthood. No one ever said high school would be easy, but Alden Porter and his cousin Bethany Scott had never imagined the darkness they would face in their junior year of high school would be enough to change their lives forever. Struggling with hidden guilt and a distortion of self-identity, Bethany makes various attempts to find an outlet to her angst; meanwhile, her relationship with her family grows painfully worse as her father turns toward alcohol. On the other hand, Alden is perpetually both externally and internally challenged as he struggles with his obesity and his bitterness toward the lack of closeness between his father and him. He is further tormented as he meets his father’s girlfriend and longs for one of his own—his only possible source of love. As both or Bethany and Alden grow further immersed into their problems, they find a cold distance beginning to hindrance their own relationship. However, both must join sides when an unexpected visitor returns. The next decision they make can either destruct their lives forever lead to the road of internal healing.
Customer Reviews:
A very promising start!.......2005-06-07
A Time To Search is a remarkably mature first effort from rising senior Susanna Kihyun Lee. The book, written during her sophomore year, follows the lives of Alden and Bethany during an especially turbulent period of their struggles.
The plot itself is subject to a few cliches here and there, but on the whole, the writing is solid and conveys the thoughts and feelings of the characters well. Some of the more major issues that appear seem a little rushed and glossed over to me, and he ending seems a bit sudden, and even a little incongruous, but then, that's just my opinion.
Susanna produces much of the same material found in A Time To Search on her own blog. However, this does not take away from the quality of her book; rather, it provides a glance into her psyche that validates the events and emotions that appear in her book that may otherwise seem unbelievable. Also, as to where many of the influences and events originated from, it can serve as almost a guide to the book.
Despite several flaws, A Time To Search is, nevertheless, quite a worthwhile read, and I highly recommend it to anyone who's ever dealt with familial or social problems. Its overall message is heartwarming and encouraging, and I know it'll be amazing to watch Susanna's writing grow and develop. I can't wait to read her next book.
Touching.......2005-05-15
This book is a great start for a young but capable writer. Her adroit ability to manipulate the English language reveals itself through the evocation of the readers' emotions. At times the language of the book is a bit ill-fitting, especially in light of the type of characters in the book, but it also leaves more for the readers to contemplate. Plus, one has to remember that the author wrote this novel in only her sophomore year of high school. Overall, well done Ms. Lee, and best wishes for the future.
Inspiring Piece.......2005-05-08
This book was so impressive and it really changed my views on life. The story seemed so heartfelt and realistic that I felt almost as if I was privy to a secret diary with insight into the teenage psyche. As Bethany and Alden struggle through life's ups and downs the reader is drawn to each of them and identifies with their struggles. I can't believe that someone wrote this at only 15/16. Way to go for sticking to your ambitions and always going for what you want. Such a strong person is sure to achieve all of her dreams.
Book Description
Throughout his career and life Gary Sprake, the Leeds United and Welsh International goalkeeper, has been a controversial figure. Gary is best known for his five or six mistakes, even though he played over 500 games at the top level. To ridicule Sprake was an effective way to ridicule Leeds United. However, this prevalent public image is not a viewpoint shared by other contemporaries and opponents who argue Gary was in fact one of the greatest goalkeepers of his generation. Written by his nephew Stuart, with Gary's full commitment, this book explores the reasons why Gary has been much maligned, and looks at the controversy of bribery and corruption.
