Amazing Pictoral Tour of River Road.......2007-05-05
This is a gorgeous book full of information and amazing photos of some of the most prominent plantations that are on River Road between New Orleans and Baton Rouge. Some of the most amazing photos were from plantations that have all but been destroyed. I'd be really interested to see an updated version as some of these homes have been completely transformed since these photos were taken. Most noteably would be Houmas House and Laura which both in this book are nothing like their now restored selves. Regardless, this book is an excellent addition to anyone's plantation library or coffee table!

I was born and raised on the River Road. I have grown up and almost all of the wonders in this book. Nothing comes close to the accuracy and beauty captured in these photos. I would HIGHLY reccomend this book to anyone that would want to know or learn about the grand homes along the Mississippi and South Louisiana. This book is second to none in my rating. A MUST HAVE and a MUST OWN for EVERYONE!

This is a fantastic coffe table book. This book is all about the pictures, with interesting text to accompany each image. Pictures are loveley, colour and large. If you are considering buying a copy without the dustjacket- go for it, as the cover image is on the underneath as well.
A great addition to any bookshelf or coffee table, my family have all had a look!
Most in depth book about River Road Architecture.......2003-07-02
I am fascinated with New Orleans and the River Road area and it's history .This has to be one of the best publications about this subject. Sexton seems to capture so much of it's history in the pages of this book, more so than any other author has. The photography is also wonderful and straight forward. I recommend it to any one who wants to learn more about southern Louisiana plantations.
A FINE TRIBUTE TO RIVER ROAD!!!!!.......2002-05-16
Although I've never been on River Road I feel this book brought me an authentic glimpse of life during the plantation era. The photographs are amazing and the book kept me spellbound for hours!! What fascinanted me most was how some plantations looked as if their inhabitants literally walked out the door and never looked back. Fine furniture, pictures, personal posessions were just left to slowly rot under leaky ceilings and caving roofs. On my next trip to New Orleans I will make it a priority to take a trip down River Road.

The Manhwa, "Palace" was based on ... .......2006-12-31
This graphic novel shows a promising start for a series that was the basis for the Korean Drama "Palace". The story takes place in an alternate Korea, wherein the monarchy is still present. The Crown Prince Shin finds himself engaged to a commoner Che-Kyung because of an arrangement between their grandfathers. Shin in the beginning offends Che-Kyung, and proposes to his girlfriend Hyo-rin. Hyo-rin rejects Shin saying she wants to be a dancer. Che-Kyung's family is in financial trouble and she finally agrees to the arrangement in order to help her family. Meanwhile, Shin's cousin Prince Yul returns from abroad and he was to have been the Crown Prince if his father, Shin's uncle had not passed away. So begins the tale of how a commoner is taught to become a princess. I really like the relationship between Che-Kyung and her family, I also like the premise that she will be strong enough to shake the foundations of the monarchy. I will definitely continue on to read this series to see how everything unfolds. I however did not like the unfinished and rough style of the drawings and illustrations. I prefer the clean lines of such artists as Yuu Watase, the detail of You Higuri, and the classic figures of Kyoko Hikawa. The story is great so far and I look forward to seeing SoHee Park Polish her illustrations. I mean even Kaori Yuki evolved her drawing style as can be seen by the difference between The Cain Saga and Godchild.

I took it on vacation with me and I couldn't put it down. A great book for aspiring athletes and coaches as well as your average Joe who works 9-5. The coaches discuss a variety of topics from their childhood to how they motivate their players. Any easy read for all ages.

I've read through Game of Life and I enjoyed it very much. There are so many things to take from this book, not just into sports, but also some reflections on life. I would recommend this book to everybody.

I found this book to be pretty much complete history of the relationship between hockey players, team managers, agents and team owners and the NHL. It shows how players salary got from being unadequate to what some people can say ridiculously high. The author definitely knows the subject and knows many people that took part in making NHL history. Although I knew most of the facts, the author puts a human face to it, narrating this through the eyes of people that played a central part in making it all happen, which makes this book a great read. I especially liked the fact that author tries to give an objective account. What's more he gives in the end of the book a few possible resolutions for upcoming lockout, one of which I found very convincing. Great book for anybody who loves the game of hockey and would like to understand the background to what looks like will be lockout for 2004 season.
