Helpful and simple.......2004-04-02

I found this book quite easy to follow. Even though I bought this for my daughter I too enjoyed trying to draw the Labradors. It also provides children with background information on the dog that they are drawing.

This is a great tool to teach kids.......2007-01-15

While the book only has 25 breeds, it has many differnet shapes and sizes. The sketching pattern displayed is a wonderful tool for begginer artists. My daughter sat down with the book and had a well done skectch of our family dog in under an hour, with shading, and colors.

Not enough breeds included.......2004-05-04

While the book does show how to draw a few dog breeds, not enough are included. Also, the instructions are specific to certain poses, rather than including some dog anatomy lessons. Once the few how-tos are done there really isn't a need to refer to this book. There are other better and more inclusive how to draw dogs books available.

I bought this book on here(Amazon.com) a few months ago and, So far this is the best book I have come across on how to draw cartoon dogs and puppies. It has everything you need to know like: in one section each page has a diffrent kind of breed like the, Cocker Spaniel, Chow Chow, German Shepherd,or Chihuahua just to name a few. it has dog expressions, how to draw puppies and wolves,foxies, then at the end of the book it shows you how to draw dogs in human form, and has costumes you can look off of. this book has nothing but fun in it and entertains you for hours! its also great when you have kids over or if its a raining day. My book's pages are always open, someone in my house is always useing it, It's so worth the buy, and its cheap too. Buy it!

this is a cool book. i wish it had more breeds, though. at the end it goes wacky with tips on how to make dogs appear more human. the dobes look awsome(Dobermans are my fav. breed.)

Not only does Christopher Hart tell you how to draw the dog, but he also includes tips and pointers on the many expressions and roles capable of cartoon dogs.

Great for art and dog lovers........1999-07-05

Even though I own this book and keep it on my bookshelf at home, everytime I run into it at a store I always have to pick it up and look through it. Hart does it once again but this time focuses on dogs and dogs alone. He covers all dogs from the common mutt to the great English Bulldog. After you have read this book once at a library or at a store, you will have this great temptation to buy it. Once you start reading it and looking at the great pictures you will never want to put it down. Adam.

Excellent Guide to drawing dogs!!!.......2004-01-06

I have spent lots of money on "learn to draw" books that detailed simple sketches, practice drawings and lack of detail. I was looking for a book that focused on key features, expressions, detailed aspects such as fur, coats, faces and color. I am happy to say I found my book!
Although this book may not be for the beginner, for those who have some knowledge and experience of drawing and pencil shading it is a wonderful guide to drawing our beloved K-9s!
I highly recommend this book, it has gone beyond the expectations I had for it.

Very good first book.......2001-08-27

I found Bettinger-Lopez's work very impressive, especially considering that the vast majority of her research was conducted for an undergraduate thesis. Bettinger-Lopez clearly spent a great deal of time conducting personal interviews and was able to get "inside" the Cuban-Jewish community. As the daughter of a Cuban-Jewish emigre to the U.S. (to New York) who still has many Cuban-Jewish friends and family members in Miami, I truly enjoyed the author's vivid, detailed portraits of the community. Bettinger-Lopez also provided interesting anthropologic and feminist analysis of the Cuban-Jewish community. I did, however, find one aspect of the book troubling, and that is Bettinger-Lopez's tendency to frequently inject herself and her personal issues into the analysis of the people that she interviews. While this technique is interesting at times, it comes off as mildly self-centered and lacks the detachment required of a primary source researcher. Overall, I recommend the book and especially recommend it to Cuban-Jews and their descendants.

The best of the Murrow books.......2006-06-19

Having read most of the Murrow histories, I've always been a bit puzzled that this one seems to reside in the shadow of the ubiquitous biography by Sperber. To my mind, this is the single best Murrow biography, lending extra and dimension to the man and insight into his bittersweet life.

If you are interested in E.R.Murrow, by all means read Sperber, but you are not finished until you read Persico.

Biography of a Journalist.......2003-12-05

Edward R. Murrow lived at a time when television journalism was being created. Prior to that he was a radio journalist during the peak period of that medium, being best known for his live coverage of World War II. He was among the pioneers who established the ground rules, expectations, and mores of electronic media journalism. Murrow was also known for his documentary work on television.

Persico gives us a detailed account of the family from which Edward R. sprang. His roots in North America go back well before the Revolutionary War. His Scotch-Irish heritage was deeply Christian.

He traces the family's move from the South to the West. Ed was a member of the freshman class of Washington State in 1930. There were about 2,800 enrolled in that class. Ed was from a working class background and college was a new adventure for him. He first gained media experience while there.

Just as thoroughly as the college years are covered so are the other eras of Murrow's life. This book is well-researched and enjoyable to read. It helps one to see the philosophical assumptions and background of one of the pioneers of broadcast journalism.

This is an excellent book! It's long but worth every minute. The read the life of Edward R. Murrow is to read the history of broadcast journalism. Not always loved, but certainly always respected by his colleagues, Ed introduced the live broadcast so the listener could "experience" history in the making.
