Book Description
Mario Schjetman was born in Mexico City in 1945. He completed architecture studies at the National University of México (UNAM) in 1968. He obtained a Master's Degree in Landscape Architecture with emphasis in Urban design at the University of California, Berkley in 1970. In 1985 he was appointed Loeb Fellow in Advanced Environmental Studies at Harvard University Graduate School of Design. He received an Honorary PhD. from Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, Mexico, 1995.
He is a founding partner, together with José Luis Pérez, of Grupo de Diseño Urbano (GDU), a firm established in 1977 in Mexico City with projects in landscape architecture, architecture and urban design. He is a founding member and ex-president of the Mexican Society of Landscape Architects, Fellow of the National Academy of Architecture in Mexico, and Fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects.
In spring of 1999, Schjetnan was given the Federico Mariscal Chair for a series of lectures at the National Autonomous University of Mexico.
Since 1999, he has been Director and Professor in Practice at the School of Landscape Architecture, College of Planning, Architecture and Landscape Architecture, University of Arizona, Tucson.

Linda Osband has done an admirable job of collecting images from England and the United States to help illustrated the Gothic Revival Movement. What she falls short on in text she makes up for in picture and engravings. It is not as comprehensive as I was hoping and there are some areas that I would have appreciated a more in-depth explanation: facades and furniture that identify the period being top of the list. The samples she has for gothic kitchens are modern but she supplements them with appliance advertisements from the 1870s-1890s. This helps identify what was used during this time, not necessarily practical now. She also incorporates the use of advertisements for tile samples and patterns that were available as well as ironwork. She covers all aspects of Gothic Revival from the outside to the interior to the furniture to the conservatory. Overall, there are some good ideas and good reading to be found if you are planning on restoring a residence or creating a period dollhouse. Highly recommend.

The outstanding production on this book and several hundred gorgeous

The book has a few funny panels, but many of the jokes in the comics fall flat. In the entire book, there may be one or two panels that make you laugh out loud, and a handful that at least make you smile. It's worth about a third of the publisher's price of $8.95, so don't pay over three bucks for it.

Riveting Realism of the Conflicts in Southeast Asia.......1999-11-10
A must read for anyone wanting an honest, documented, and exciting story about what it was like being a war correspondent in Vietnam and Cambodia. What is outstanding about Leslie's writing is that he doesn't give in to the journalism game of giving the editors what they want to hear---He tells it like it is, and has a genius for getting his truth through the red-tape. His courage in going to the Viet-Cong for their view of the real reason of the war is absolutely the best exposure yet written about the United States senseless involvement in trying to be a strong-arm for the Saigon elite. Sincerely, Franklin D. Rast, Author-"Don's Nam," and "Ghosts In The Wire."
