Again we should be amazed at these wonderful algorithmic creatures that have continued to sprawl for the last half a century or more. The innovation about this type of experimentation if at all it is anymore should lie on the reality and materiality of the projects. We cannot let technology invent architecture but to at least keep up if not produce it. Lynns dialogues will only be convincing if the show doesn't end up or formulate by gyp board.

Excellent book.......2005-04-27
(...) This is not a book for a beginner; she doesn't focus extensively on the "basics" - looping, bending, and wrapping wire, although she does give some instruction on how to do these things. For that, I would buy "All Wired Up" by Mark Lareau. But there are some very unique designs in this book, that I feel make it worth adding to your library, if you're a wire wrapper and already have some experience. I have been making one of her wire snowflakes every year now, and give them out as Xmas presents. (picture here at: http://webpages.charter.net/garyb444/Snowflake%20008.jpg).
She also does not give illustrations for every single step of the projects, but I found that the instructions were detailed enough for me to complete the projects, based on previous wire wrapping experience and ordinary common sense. A good book to buy, if you want to expand your repertoire of designs and try something new.
Disappointing: interesting projects, poor visuals.......2004-07-28
I bought this book on the strength of its projects - it contains some interesting designs that range from jewelry to tiny baskets to ornaments for the home or Xmas tree. My main complaints about the book are the abysmal quality of the photos and the incompleteness of the directions.
Not only are many of the projects photographed on very busy backdrops, but the photos are so blurry and badly printed that I find it very hard to see how some of the connections and shapes are made--this is especially annoying since the how-to directions are neither well-written nor complete, so I am having to refer to the photos to try and guess how some of the construction steps are supposed to be done. Not recommended.

A glance around any posh urban design store indicates that wirework is making a comeback, perhaps because its simple lines can work just as well in a cottage as in a city setting. As the 25 easy-to-follow step-by-step projects in this book demonstrate, hand-formed wire objects may be charmingly rustic (such as the wall-hung spice rack) or elegantly utilitarian (such as the graceful copper bowl). But the effect need not be stark: even if you didn't think you wanted wire accessories in your home, the scrolling delicacy of the picture frame, the clean geometrics of the woven wire chair seat, and the lacy elegance of the garden lantern may hook you.

Some nice projects, but..........1999-11-22
There were some very nice projects in this book. However,detailed instructions are lacking severely. In fact, the amount ofwire needed for each project is not in the materials list. Sometimes you get lucky and the instructions state to cut a certain number of pieces a certain length. I need an idea of how much wire I need to have in a continuous length. (Try "Making Wire Jewelry" by Clegg & Larom for great jewelry projects with step-by-step instructions). Also, the authors seem to be fascinated by chicken wire. Far too many of the projects use chicken wire; from the look of the cover photograph, I really didn't think this would be such a sculpting book. And forgive me for being snide, but there is even a *pipe cleaner* project. I was really hoping for more examples of the fine work done on the cover. However, it does have some great projects, and the chicken wire stuff is very nice. I am exaggerating here - I guess there are only 3 chicken wire projects. Combined with the pipe cleaners, and silly projects like the "Pocket Clips" (really, I can't begin to explain them), the toilet paper holder (yes, really!), and the bicycle toy, I was really disappointed.
But there are a few gems. There is a votive candle chandelier that is fabulous, along with the bowl seen on the cover. The toast rack is too cute. There are no jewelry pieces in this book. If you are looking for a solely wire book (as opposed to wire mesh/chickenwire), this book is not for you. It really is a nice book, but just not what I expected. But then again, for the price, it is a nice little book.

I loved this book! Photos are beautiful--instructions are easy and understandable even for the beginner. Projects are varied--from the chandelier to the seascape mobile to the wine bottle carrier. Great how-to instructions for every technique.

A terrific beginner's resource........2007-08-28
This is a really nice little book and an excellent resource for the beginner. Of course you could, if you feel like searching, find beginning wire-wrapping techniques by plowing through piles of beadwork magazines... the same could be said for most how-to books. This book is obviously designed for those who haven't yet mastered wireworking technique, and I think it's a winner.
I like this book because it's clearly written, full of helpful photos, and does not -- as many books and articles do -- assume that the reader has done this before.
Whether you make your beads or buy them, if you've wanted to do simple wireworking and haven't known where to start, I recommend that you start here. Nancy Sala is a skilled wireworker who will very quickly have you putting those beads into beautiful pieces that you can wear or sell.
What a great book!.......2007-08-15
I just started working with glass beads and this is one of the best books i've found about bead work. It's extremely clear and easy to follow and the pictures are great. It gives you step by step instructions with the different techniques. I've never seen such great wirework before. This is a definite must for anyone working with beads and jewelry.
Definitely not worth the money!!!.......2007-07-30
This little pamphlet of about 30 pages claims to help beadmakers enhance their wirework.
Nearly all of the informations it contains can be found for free in every beadrelated magazine.It contains only 5 projects: one for a pendant, pictured on the front page.The same instructions are taken a few pages later to make a smaller pendant to use as earring. The look and the instructions for both projects are identical. The neckwire project only explains how to finish the edges as a clasp, but no word about getting a beautiful round in the neckwire itself.Next project is 2 different wasy to make earwires, both very rudimentary. The "great tip" to file wire ends before putting the wire through the ear lobes is a basic that every beadmagazine repeats in almost every issue.The bracelet project is also quite basic.
You can get much more useful information on wirework suitable to beadmakers and much better explained and for much less money too in the following books:

This book is easy to read, and the instructions are clear and simple, anyone who wants to learn simple wire techniques this, is the book for you it is also a great reference book for the amature as well as the advanced lamp worker. The pictures are crips and follow along with the instructions.

Accounting for Growth is a study of information systems in American business during the quarter-century before World War I, a period that saw the birth of the large modern corporation as the dominant form of American enterprise. The book takes as its starting point the way in which the Dow Chemical Company constructed and reconstructed its internal information systems during years of rapid growth and technological change in the chemical industry. The book also discusses how changes in information systems affected Dow’s organization and management, as well as the extent of its technological innovation.
During this period, Dow transformed itself from a small, single-product firm, which sold all its output through a national cartel, into a technologically dynamic, vertically integrated firm selling pharmaceutical, agricultural, and industrial chemicals throughout the world. These organizational and strategic changes required changes in the firm’s information systems, which measured and recorded what occurred within the firm, particularly in the areas of monitoring and planning. Most of these changes were incremental and were initiated by Dow’s managers, who relied heavily on the expertise of large stockholders associated with other firms.
The book examines the impact of the accounting profession and its new standards in cost accounting on the development of information systems at Dow. It compares Dow’s accounting practices to those of other manufacturing firms as well as to the emerging ideas of accountants and engineers about how information systems should be designed. Despite urging from professional accountants, Dow declined to include allocated overhead in its calculation of product costs, relying instead on measures of average variable cost except when it was making prospective investment decisions. Such innovations changed both the information available to managers and the incentives that followed.
These information changes encouraged Dow’s master strategy of product diversification (moving into new markets and out of some large but less profitable ones) and vertical integration, rather than cooperation with cartels, which controlled distribution as well as output decisions.
