Well written and good in its selection of a variethy of types, typically found in New Orleans. The photography, exceptionally important in this kind of book, is excellent. New Orleans' architecture is unique, from its shotgun cottages along the river, to its grand, Garden District houses. They're all here, and make me yearn to return to New Orleans.

This is a gorgeous book of homes of residents of New Orleans. These are real people who love their city, their history and their residences. Susan Sully shows that to its full extent.

This is nothing more than rehash of at least existing books.......1999-08-13
Its so disappointing to look foward to a new book about painting instruction and find its nothing more than a rehash of at least three books that I am aware of. Ninty percent of the paintings and related comments I have seen in earlier books. If I had had the opportunity to thumb through this book prior to buying it I certainly would not have bought it. This is one of the weaknesses of buying books online. I will be more careful in the future. I know you wont't publish this review but if you have contact with publishers they should certainly be made aware of customers disappointment with this practice

Weems's Hampton Project is shaped in part as a response to vintage photographs of the historically black Hampton Institute (now Hampton University) in Hampton, Virginia, and period images of African Americans and Native Americans, as well as to Frances Benjamin Johnston's celebrated Hampton Album of 1900. Her gaze is broad enough to encompass initial contacts between Anglos, African Americans, and Native Americans, the institution of slavery, the era of Jim Crow, the civil rights conflicts of the twentieth century, and the land claim disputes of the present. Weems's ultimate focus, however, is her response to the philosophy of Hamptons's founder, and to historic and contemporary intersections of race, education, and the democratic ideal.

Jim is a friend of my grandfathers. He is an amazing person, and a true inspiration. I've read his book and still could NEVER understand the horrible things he went through. I recommend this book to anybody studying WWII or interested in the subject.

Did what it was supposed to do.......2005-02-06
I sold my house in San Francisco without a broker (my first house sale). The buyer actually drew up the sales contract but this book helped me understand who should pay for what fees.
The only thing that this book lacked that could have gotten me in trouble was that it failed to mention a San Francisco-specific report called the 3R report (the City issues it to list all permits that it has issued for the property). Fortunately I had a friend who was a realtor who checked to make sure I had all the forms.
Want to save a LOT of Money.......2003-10-20
I bought and read this book. I was then able to sell my house in San Francisco without using a listing agent, saving $15,250.
Needless to say, this is a book that MORE than pays for itself.
In fact, this is an important book to read even if you decide to use a full service real estate agent and not try to sell it yourself. When dealing with real estate transactions, honesty appears to fall by the wayside. This book will educate you for the pitfalls you will be facing.

I had a bought and borrowed a few for-sale-by owner books in order to help me sell my spec houses, but was always very disappointed with how and general and vague they were. This book, however, told me all the info I needed in a very easy-to- follow, step-by-step format. I really feel like I totally understand the process now, thanks to this book. If you follow all the advice and suggestions, you will definitely save thousands on realtor fees.

This book is a great book on cat behavior. If you want a humorous guide to understanding what makes your cat tick, "Dear Tabby" has all the answers. This book covers Diet and Grooming, Boredom, Litterbox problems, scratching, aggression, and misbehavior, and affection -- from the cat's point of view but aimed at showing owners what they need to know about cats. I read this book through and laughed at Beth's humor. She does a great job explaining what to do when your cat doesn't do what we humans think is right.
Buy this book! It's a great one.
