Pretty good!.......2004-06-27
This graphic novel is a reprint of several old issues of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," and was the basis for the first TMNT movie. If you've seen the movie, you'll know how a lot of this goes - one of the turtles is ambushed (though here it is Leo, where in the movie it was Raph) and April's apartment gets trashed, and the Turtles head off into the country to at an old, dilapidated home (this time, April's instead of Casey's) in Northampton, Massachusetts (the birthplace of TMNT).
The story moves quickly, and is continued elsewhere, so you won't get the end here, nor the beginning. But the dialogue is crisp, and the artwork is excellent (if a bit simple). It's an enjoyable read, in the end, which is really all that matters. It takes itself more seriously than the movie did, and is a bit more adult overall, especially with such scenes as April having post-traumatic nightmares about the Shredder.

this graphic novel collect the original black and white issues no 10-12 in glorious full colour.
The story revolves around x-mas celeberations at april o'neals place. Leo is out excercising, when he gets ambushed by the foot. They apparent discover where these guys are holed up and crash in. This marks the return of shredder, though no explanation is offered. Also, Casey Jones gets into the fight, again, with no clear idea being offered to the reader who he is, or how he knows the turtles.With april's place thrashed, there is a loss of spirit amongst aveyone, and teh rest of the book deals withhow they cope with it.
This is a pretty good book, with great art and action. The writing in the latter part of the book is better than usual. Recommended, probably along with the three preceeding books in the series.

This movie was OK, I guess. I was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: The Secret of the Ooze. I watched it a lot of times. It was not that realistic. I mean, who believes there could really be Ninja Turtles. But overall I think it was enjoyable. It has some new characters: Toka and Razar. The price here is cheap, and I think kids would like this movie. So why don't you take my advice. Buy this movie if you liked Ninja Turtles 1 (or if you saw it) because the turtles look more real here too.

In recent years a growing concern that the increasing accumulation of greenhouse gases will lead to undesirable changes in global climate has resulted in a number of proposals, both in the United States and internationally, to set physical targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. But what will these proposals cost? Based on the authors' earlier ground-breaking work, Buying Greenhouse Insurance outlines a way to think about greenhouse-effect decisions under uncertainty. It describes an insightful model for determining the economic costs of limiting carbon dioxide emissions produced by burning fossil fuels and provides a solid analytical base for rethinking public policy on the farreaching issue of global warming.
Manne and Richels present region-by-region estimates of the costs that would underlie an international agreement. Using a computer model known as Global 2100, they analyze the economic impacts of limiting C02 emissions under alternative supply and conservation scenarios. The results clearly indicate that a reduction in emissions is not the sole policy response to potential climate change.
Following a summary of the greenhouse effect, its likely causes, and possible consequences, Manne and Richels take up issues that concern the public at large. They provide an overview of Global 2100, look at how the U.S. energy sector is likely to evolve under businessas-usual conditions and under carbon constraints, and describe the concept of "greenhouse insurance." They consider possible global agreements, including an estimate of benefits that might result from trading in an international market in emission rights. They conclude with a technical description directed toward modeling specialists.
Alan Manne is Professor of Operations Research at Stanford University. Richard Richels is Director of the Energy Analysis and Planning Department at the Electric Power Research Institute.
