This dissertation summarizes the current use of concurrent software engineering (CSE) by information technology (IT) organizations in the United States and its effectiveness in improving software delivery time, quality, and cost. From a total population of 7,173 IT organizations, a one-third sample of 2,391 were surveyed. A net valid response of 142 organizations was received, which represents a valid return rate of 6.2 percent. The responses were then analyzed against software development time, quality, and cost metrics according to the software development methodologies used. Findings and Conclusions: This study shows the extent to which pure CSE and CSE in combination with the traditional system development life cycle (SDLC) are used in the United States. There are strong indications that CSE improves software development time and cost, but this could not be statistically proven from the data. There is no indication that CSE improves software quality.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic black letter explanation of 1L property class.......2003-12-05

I'm at a #7 ranked law school and have a terrible property textbook and throughout the year I used this book to bolster my understanding. Many times I felt like I understand much better than my classmates becaues this book gives you such a solid foundation. It also has exercises for each little section so you get it all down pat! Now I am studying for my 1L property final and am so grateful to have this book that I took the time to come here and write a review. This book is especially strong for understanding present and future interests in possessory estates. But it also has concurrent ownership (joint tenancy, tenancy in common, etc.). Finally, this book is slim and small so I am even grateful for that because toting around all the heavy law textbooks makes you not take this for granted. ;)
                    Thank you Cornelius Moynihan!

5 out of 5 stars Understand property, don't just read about it........2002-10-18

My girlfriend is in law school. When she had time to talk to me the other day, she told me about how this book has been a huge help and helped her understand her property class better than her other textbooks. Not for the novice, but perfect for the future lawyer that really needs to understand the concepts.

                    5 out of 5 stars A Valuable Tool........1999-12-10

As a First Year Law Student I am required to take a class on property law. Until my professor started to talk about estates I was doing well. Sensing the utter confusion my classmates and I had on the subject he recommended this book for us. He was absolutely right. This book is an invaluable tool for those learning about property law for the first time. I'd be lost without it.

                      Book Description

The first attempt to address comparative property law in a common integrative framework, this study discusses German, Italian, French, American, and British property law as mere variations based upon a few fundamental themes through which these nations developed legal systems to provide responses to common economic problems and to set legal foundations for working markets. Basic Principles of Property Law was produced to offer a common framework for the discussion of the law of property within countries in transition, thus it has its basis, not on just one legal system, but on the institutional commonalties that make western property law a working market institution. It offers a major challenge to conventional thinking that in property law the differences between common law and civil law are so important that "common core" research is impossible. Mattei hopes to guide the reader to think comparatively about property by shedding many preconceived formalistic abstractions. The substance of property law, he argues, is much more common throughout the Western legal tradition than legal scholars would have us believe. Through a set format and accessible writing, this book looks at national legal traditions as responses to common economic problems. It sets the foundations for further much needed integrative comparative legal research in the domain of property law.
