Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Help for a most challenging subject.......2005-02-11
I have been painting & teaching watercolor for 15 years. This is the first helpful book that I have found on painting seascapes in watercolor. I accidentally ran across it in the library of a retirement community where I teach & immediately borrowed it. It contains basic sketches & information about the "character" & construction of waves, surf, foam, & trails which the ordinary painter is not aware of. Reading this book is an "education"; it contains sketches & how-to instructions which any painter can follow to practice painting seascapes in watercolor -- one of the most challenging subjects in this media. As soon as I located this book on Amazon.com, I ordered it.

Loaded with inspiration and techniques.......2002-02-16
I really enjoyed the focus of this book on painting water. Water is such an essential element of so many landscapes, it was really nice to read a book devoted to it, and not just a sub-chapter.
I also really enjoyed the numerous color reproductions of paintings throughout the book which were well-chosen and beautiful to look at.
Bringing water to life !.......2000-07-12
It's always a burning desire to capture as close the minute details in a scenary picture or the scenery itself. Water often proved to be the hardest to express its formless self.
This book discussed in details the interpretation of water features using the different media like oil, pastel, water colour. All along, it had been thought that watercolour produces the best details with depth. But the book shows that other media can achieve similar effects as well.
Many examples are discussed in step-by-step approach and illuatsated in sequences to teach about the built-up, so it's a simplified step to learning. Many medium are explore adding to the variety of expression that beginners can explore.
Well formatted and recommended for beginners and intermediate painters.
Excellent Reference Book.......1999-12-30
This book offers great projects in watercolor, oil, pastel and mixed media with lots of finished work and step by step examples. It has improved the impression of "water" in my paintings remarkably.

Aging and highly technical treatise on 3-D sound.......2006-02-08
This publication deals with the human factors and signal processing aspects of audio in 3-D systems. It is divided into six chapters:
1. Virtual Auditory Space: Context, Acoustics, and Psychoacoustics
2. Overview of Spatial Hearing Part 1: Azimuth and Elevation Perception
3. Overview of Spatial Hearing Part 2: Sound Source Distance and Environmental Context
4. Implementing 3-D Sound Systems, Sources, and Signal Processing
5. Virtual Acoustic Applications
6. Resources
Chapters one through four are the most useful as they present details of psychoacoustics, physical acoustics, and signal processing with plenty of instructive diagrams and equations when necessary. Chapters 5 and 6 on applications and resources are the least useful since they focus on these subjects from the perspective of 1994, which might as well be a century ago given the progress made in computing platforms. This publication is still useful since most texts in print on audio today focus on Windows-centric plug-in solutions for games where there are little technical details about the physics of the situation because the targeted reader is a high school or college student writing game programs in their basements. If you think this rather academic tome is for you, it is now available free on the web. Since Amazon tends to throw out reviews with web addresses in them, suffice it to say if you type in "3-D sound for virtual reality and multimedia" in quotations as I show it here into Google, the first web address you see should be the on-line version of this book.
The reader should already be familiar with digital signal processing in order to get the most out of this publication. If you are planning on doing the "big picture" design of a 3-D audio application, this old publication is essential reading.
This is definitely the best book available on 3D audio.......1999-09-15
I'm pretty sure that it is also the only book presently available. It IS fairly well written, and if you are writing a sound engine for a game, or a similar application, I would strongly recommend this book. On the other hand, parts of it are extremely technical, so if you do not know if you can follow it, you may wish to keep looking.

IT education for experts and non-experts.......2002-09-10
Challenges of Information Technology Education in the 21st Century (2002), edited by Prof. Eli Cohen of the Leon Kozminski Academy of Entrepeneurship & Management (Poland) and the Informing Science Institute (USA)is an invaluable resource for Information Science teachers at the undergraduate and graduate levels. But its interest goes well beyond this fairly restricted audience, as it contains guidelines for class action, models of teaching and for research, and very practical advice on curricular development that can be used successfully in all disciplines (including the humanities). It offers both a rationale for curricular format and content changes (justified by what Prof. Eli calls a "revolution" in IT education) and an analogue to the demands associated to future careers in college and in industry. Furthermore, by the end of the book, any careful reader will be much surprised at how much he/she has learned about institutional history, group dynamics, sociology and psychology of groups, the relations between IT and science, technology, and policy, as well as the connections between university, industry, and management.
The book is divided into four interconnected sections (Section I: Examples on How to Teach Specific Topics; Section II: Teaching Techniques and Pedagogy; Section III: Impact of the Web on IT Teaching; and Section IV: Developing an IT Curriculum). Together they represent a heterogeneous variety of 13 articles by Information Science experts from countries such as China, New Zealand, Australia, and the USA. The worldview present in all chapters takes into consideration that the population of teachers and students is not disembodied from institutional contexts. Taking into account that teachers perceive teaching and learning differently from students, the diversity of their cultural and racial backgrounds, the need to practice from real case studies, and the contrasting methods required by distance learning as opposed to classroom learning further reinforce the embededness of the process. The philosophy of education present in the chapters emphasizes the importance of teamwork in problem solving, the need to train students for flexibility in adjusting quickly to ever changing conditions typical of business applications, a sensitivity to the demands of industry as well as those of academia (and of their ever fluid relationships), and a "deep approach" to learning about IT. This model of learning and teaching is incompatible with more traditonal and passive teaching methods that have proved to be too weak to replicate the dynamic nature of real working situations in industry and that leave employers dissatisfied with the low level of preparedness and independent thinking on the part of their newly graduated employees. The "deep approach" involves reliance on groups, delegating tasks to qualified individuals or teams, brain-storming, discussing best solutions on the fly and with little guidance from management. It encourages the view that students construct knowledge in their minds rather than that they should expect information to be offered to them in its entirety by all-knowing teachers.
The contributors of Challenges of Information Technology in the 21st Century have made their homework. All chapters include detailed literature reviews of the field of expertise that their authors are complementing and/or superseding. All start with clear summaries that the reader can use for quick browsing, and end with concluding remarks and useful and updated bibliography lists. They also offer definitions, practical (and experimented in the field) perspectives, modules, tables, ideas for syllabi, tools for self-assessment, and many other guidelines for successful IT teaching and learning on an international scale. Although the vocabulary of IT is quite technical, the articles are easily intelligible to non-experts. I can see this book becoming a required reading for IT and business students, as well as for future college teachers. The book opens new horizons to interested parties and is, as typical of Prof. Eli's other work in the field of IT, incredibly honest every step of the way. I highly recommend it.
Everything you wanted to know.........2002-09-04
This book brings together material from many diverse sources and disciplines to produce a one stop review of the major issues facing IT educators. It is one of the only books that I have seen that combines discussions on pedagogy, teaching techniques, and curricula. The book has international appeal with examples from several countries. It provides ideas for educators ranging from how to set up a team project, to implmenting a distance education class. For the educator preparing to develop an IT curriculum the articles and comparisons of the various model curricula provide an excellent starting point. One of the best features of the book is the extensive references that are included with each article. These references which often go on for two or three pages are worth the price of the book for the person doing reasearch in any of the areas discussed.
Collection of Quality Current Works on IT Education.......2002-08-19
Eli's dedication to the IT education community should be legendary. Once again he has provided a service to all IT educators by collecting some of the top quality works by some leading internationally recognized IT educators.
The various topics could be a book in each one's own right. However, the diversity helps the reader grasp the depth and breadth of interest and talent that is recording and researching about IT education. Well-written works on teamwork to curriculum development this text is a useful resource for those interested in improving his or her service to students. The mix of topics is useful as it provides ideas and should prompt others to adopt a more reflective approach toward IT education. The topics also cover diverse student types, such as first years to researchers.
A current practice resource that can add value to those that read and use the ideas presented in this work.
If you're serious about IT education,..........2002-08-13
..., then this book is definitely for you. As one of the most challenging fields, IT has kept practitioners amd academia on alert for several decades. Moreover, turbulent development of IT field has greatly influenced both teaching content and its form in employing IT-based forms of content delivery. To my opinion, this book fills a gap in much-needed discussion about the ways and prospects of IT education by providing not only an exchange of methods and techniques, but challenging these methods and techniques to discover the fine grains of experience that will not be obsolete tomorrow.
Though the book is a collaborative effort by people with different experiences, one common feature is an emphasis on problem-solving and creativity skills. As opposed to technology-centered approaches, this approach centers around human relations that are, to my opinion, the foundation of any working system today. I would highly recommend this book to anyone involved in any levels of IT education - undergraduate, graduate, training and all others possible.
This is a Useful Tool.......2002-08-13
I am a co-author (with Karen Nantz) of Chapter VIII, Delivering Course Material via the Web: An Introduction. Our chapter is based on over five years of practical experience in using the web to enhance our courses. I did not see the other contributor's work until the book came out and it was very gratifying to see the quality and pragmatism in the other chapters. I have been able to directly use much of the material in the text in preparing for the next term. I know it sounds self-serving, but take a look at the material and I am sure that an academic using the web for their courses will find much of interest. At the very least, use the material to avoid wasting your time on the 'popular' ideas of how to use the web.

This book is a real stake in the ground.......2002-11-18
Understanding the issues and challenges associated with virtual organisations is a subject area in its ascendancy. Whilst more structured ways of working (such as vertically integrated companies and long term supplier partnerships) will continue, virtual organisations will become an increasingly relevant feature in developed economies.
This book provides an essential contribution to the subject area. It is useful to readers seeking to gain an academic perspective on the issues and to practitioners and industrialists seeking to deploy these new ways of operating in order to deliver competitive advantage. Hence I thoroughly recommend it.
Writing the bible of VO's.......2002-08-22
So far, most serious publications about `virtual organizations' I came across are fragmented and theoretical. There seems to be a lot of talking and thinking about the subject but there is little experience and accomplished successes to report on. Under these circumstances, the editor of `Managing Virtual Web Organizations in the 21st Century' did a remarkable job to introduce a converging conception of the virtual organization (VO) and include theoretical knowledge, practical solutions and recent experiences with VO's.
The book contains 17 articles that elaborate on various issues ranging from the general conception of VO's to its legal format and from the business point of view to the underlying ICT-architecture. From the number of contributors and their various positions and geographical locations I might conclude that the undertaking of writing this book required a virtual organization itself. For many contributors this seems to be nothing new. In many articles it is stated that VO's have existed ever since people started to work together on the basis of trust. The new thing that the 21st century brings is the addition of ICT, which adds potentially more structure and scale to the VO. The book focuses largely on the design and management of such organizations. In most cases it takes the production and ebusiness environment as its object. Occasionally there is attention for web organizations in the professional services industries. For those who want to know on what the European Commission spent much of her billions for the `Information Society' (IST-program), the book provides a number of references to relevant IST-projects.
Some effort seems to be taken to make all articles fit into a general framework of the book, which could not prevent many contributors to start with a description of what they regard to be a virtual organization themselves. Happily for the editor, most contributors agree more or less on the underlying concept, which is remarkable, where-as the book lays out a quite specific and practical framework for this kind of organization.
For its riches in issues and practical models the book is a useful source for professionals and decision makers that want to keep up to date with key concepts and developments regarding `web organizations'. However, I don't think it is going to be `The Bible of VO's'. Therefore it is too specific on some issues and not encompassing enough on others. On many issues the book provides insight and useful ideas, but overall it leaves the reader with a lot of critical thinking to do himself. It seems the editor does have a clear view on the basic concept he likes to introduce. On top of that he is gathering and analyzing additional data and models. Little doubt next time he will come out with his bible after all.
A Complete Overview of Virtual Organizations.......2002-08-12
Ulrich Franke and his co-authors give a broad overview over the Management of the relatively new organizational form of virtual enterprises. For all business people who are interested in strategic management or involved in networked economy this book is essential. The topic is structured quite well and shows a collection of different views given by international experts in the field of virtual organisations.
An intriguing puzzle revealed.......2002-08-09
Many books and articles have been written about the intriguing puzzle of virtual organizations (VO). But many authors failed to deliver an integrated approach, too. Therefore, I have to congratulate Mr Franke twice. Het not only compiled a book surveying a broad range of aspects, but also revealed challenges from the managerial side. And the various authors, who put their expertise in this book, make this a guide through VOs and most crucially, more credible. There is no doubt, this is a highly recommandable book - particularly for managers and chief executives, who are boldly enough to take on the forthcoming challenges of the 21st century.
...life after the internet bubble..........2002-08-06
There are not many books dealing with virtual organisations and e-business after the internet bubble did burst! Did most writers models collapsed with the stock market? This book certainly shows that modern ICT is still an important issue leading, if applied in a coherent strategy, to a competitive advantage. It proves that the virtual organisation is an organisational form of the 21st century. This book is a must for people who are interested in strategy.

Customer Reviews:
Very practical.......2002-08-28
The book is very practical and complete. Even if you have a lot of experience it is easy to forget or overlook opportunities to do better. The book is very complete, overlooking little or nothing, but is is written so well and to the point that you can use it very efficiently as an outline to plan your marketing and sales effort. Many excellent ideas.
a PRACTICAL guide.......2002-04-29
There are lots of interesting materials in this field, but the Mitchell book is the most useful I've found. My copy is already well-thumbed as it is the main reference source I use when reviewing development plans. The checklist format makes it easy to quickly compare state-of-the-art marketing with our efforts and make sure nothing is left out. In addition to being comprehensive, many of the ideas included are innovative and have caused us to modify our marketing strategies to incorporate more modern techniques.
This book can improve any marketing program. I recommend it highly.
