I Absolutely Love This Book!.......2007-07-03
I borrowed this book from my local library for decor inspiration and because the photographs were stunning. I then purchased my own copy because I fell in love with the wonderful stories of the homeowners and the gorgeous pictures. While the majority of the homes featured are in the New York area, there is a wide range of home design on display here. My favorites were the NY townhomes as I just love the look of the woodwork and the beautiful fireplaces. Well worth it and makes a fine addition to any library or showpiece for your coffee table.

Beautiful, but missing something.......2004-01-25
If you're looking for a beautiful, decorative coffee-table book to fill space in your living quarters, look no further. STYLE AND GRACE: AFRICAN AMERICANS AT HOME is a beautiful escape inside the home of African American celebrities. Showing a diversity of styles and tastes, the reader is given a glimpse of quiet elegance, sophisticated clutter, and even over-indulgent artifacts. Showcasing the houses of celebrities such as Russell Simmons and Gordon Parks to Nancy Lane and Michael McCollom, this book is resplendent, and quite an inspiration to those who can afford to hire someone else to fix up their house.
Photographer Mick Hales has beautifully portrayed areas both inside and outside of each house. And, while I did think the book was beautiful, it was a bit annoying that it only focused on celebrities as if to say that other African Americans do not have style and decorating abilities too. It would've been nice to see a section devoted to those who do their own interior decorating.

Excellent color photography, comprehensive overview.......1998-07-01
As one of the muralists shown in this book, I feel very honored to have been included. The content of this book and intent of the author Robin Dunitz ranks up with any textbook of art history. California has always been home to artists who dare to dream and a public who appreciates those artists. The book is full of color reproductions on every page, includes the history of murals, and has interviews and observations by some very incredible artists who paint large, colorful, and thought provoking images. I highly recommend this book to all who are interested in art outdoors.

The First Blaze that's BLAZED for me!.......2002-05-08
I was fairly new to the Blaze line when I picked up A Touch of Silk by Lori Wilde... and I wanted to give the line one more chance to hook me before I called it quits and gave up on the entire series. But, after reading it, I know I'll be back for more!
Not only is Ms. Wilde a very talented author, her characters are well crafted, engaging, intriguing, and totally believable! There is more to A Touch of Silk than a lot of the other Blazes I've read.
This book had everything a romance should have... a great plot, amazing, sensual characters, a steamy romance, and deep emotion.
I loved every second of it and I can't wait until the next part of her Alaskan wife hunters hits the shelf in July with Duets!
This is a can't miss in the Blaze series!

The book was probably published in the earlier 80's, as could be tell by the style of the lingerie and the hairstyle of the models. Other than the fact that some of the photos are rather grainy, everything else seem to click in this book.

From the supplier: Information kiosks are growing in popularity on college campuses. Kiosks have a tremendous potential in disseminating and collecting information. A kiosk project at the Indiana University School of Education sought to provide as much information as possible about the school to the public. Students could access information about degree requirements, course offerings, and course syllabi. The kiosks run as stand-alone units, although networked kiosks also offer advantages. The project keeps the opening menu brief to avoid confusion on the part of users. A high priority was placed on keeping the interface clean and easy to use to encourage inexperienced. The group chose not to use a keyboard interface for security purposes, instead, it uses a touchscreen interface. Although the touchscreen is more expensive, it requires no special expertise.

When Gustav Ranis began his scholarly career in the field of economic development, the global economy presented a landscape of widely contrasting conditions for its participants. Almost two-thirds of the global population was ill-fed, ill-housed, illiterate, and lacking access to proper medical care. Today, four decades later, while standards of living have generally improved, and some areas of Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East have become highly productive economies, the gap between the wealthy few and the rest of the world has widened. Very significant areas of the globe remain desperately poor.
In a much-needed effort to assess the current issues facing developing countries and development economics, Ranis's former students, present and past colleagues at Yale, and fellow development economists honor him with this volume. Contributors examine and evaluate four areas of concern: duality and the evolution of labor markets in developing economies; trade, technological transfer, and economic development; the international economic regime and economic development; and finance and economic development. Among many new findings, several essays present evidence that duality in labor markets may be self-perpetuating absent selective government intervention. Others find that, contrary to earlier conjectures, trade liberalization will have more than just a one-time impact on national economic performance. Still others suggest that using a nominal exchange rate anchor as a tool of stabilization policy in developing economies is fraught with difficulties.
