Book Description
Today, the parameters of shop design have expanded exponentially. No longer is the retail landscape crafted only for shopping convenience and to reinforce brand identity. It has evolved to reflect the role of shops as a public space where we spend a large part of our leisure time. For this reason, architects and designers are increasingly pushing the boundaries when designing shop interiors. The result: the creation of unique and spectacular spaces within the city; spaces which engage and entertain even the most jaded browsers and add to the city's dynamism.
Customer Reviews:
A great resource.......2006-05-20
This book is HUGE (525 pages) and took me almost 2 hours to skim; I look forward to going through the book more thoroughly when I have the time. The majority of the stores featured are ultra modern, minimalistic styles... works of art themselves. You'll find stores located in Europe (London), Asia (largely Japan), and some from the US (LA and New York).
Even for use as a simple design-idea reference, this book is worth its price. I will undoubtedly apply many of the concepts in this book the store I'm opening.

Customer Reviews:
A collection must.......2003-12-09
First off if your buying this book chances are you understand
a tad bit more about networking than the masses. This book is
in fact what Amazon claims it to be "A great refference" when
your in search of a quick answer your not going to spend a year
and a half thumbing through these pages, instead you'll have
answered the questioned and moved on. If there is one comment
that I wish would others intrested in this item to know it
would have to how organized and easy to read this book is.
Ditto on the CCDA recommendation ..........2003-03-02
Although a new CCDA exam (640-861) is now appearing, and the Cisco prodcut information is somewhat dated for the older CCDA exam (640-441), the foundations are great for both CCDA and eventual CCDP. I read this a year before taking up the CCNA and CCDA exams, and ended up referencing _back_ to it every time reading another book raised some questions.
All-in-all, it's a great "base reference" for anything studying for Cisco exams.
Cisco Network Design Handbook, design concepts at its best!.......2000-10-28
After reading the Cisco Network Design Handbook, I was amazed at the amount of knowledge that I gained. I was able to easily plan, implement, and maintain global customer networks in a direct and organized fashion. Also I was able to solve network design issues that my engineering team and I were faced with, with quick and precise methods that I learned from this great authored book ! This book is must, for those in today's high paced networking enviroment.
Good book!.......2000-08-03
This book not only covers technical topics as they relate to Cisco Network Design, but also covers some of the more important softer issues that network designers have to deal with - customers, proposals, personnel and management. All in all , a good book to buy. Great for CCDA prep, too.
inaccurate sound bytes about basic networking topics.......2000-08-01
Buy this book if this sentence seems right to you, "Process switching can be described as a router processor repackaging a frame after the frame has been processed. Process switching occurs when encapsulated frames are being sent across a WAN link. Encapsulation takes place in the router's processor, so when encapsulation is being used and switching is needd, process switching occurs." Repackaging technical documentation should not be attempted by soneone who doesn't really understand what is going on. The book is full of pithy, slightly wrong statements.
Book Description

Filled with floor plans for one, two, and three-stall garages, separate workshops and basement workshops. Includes workbench and storage unit designs.
Customer Reviews:
Picture on the cover doe not match the content........2004-04-30
This book was not very helpful at all in building my garage shop to restore a 67 Mustang in. Better to get your ideas from surfing the web. Seems like it was writen many years ago and a new cover was put on it. Basicly for the 1950's capenter that wants to build wooden storage racks in their garage.
Very disappointed in the content........1999-05-21
The author filled this book with few (if any) new or interesting ideas for building an "ultimate" workshop. The book is filled with vague generalizations, "woodshop" like project descriptions, and ad-copy/drawings from suppliers.Few pictures and amateurish drawings make this a must miss book....if "0" stars was an option this book would qualify.
The word "Ultimate" should not be in the title.......1998-06-01
A good basic guideline for the beginner-hobbiest. The author had a great idea for a book, but obviously has no hands-on experience. He should have looked up the definition of "ultimate". If you're looking for guidance to the best, save your money.

Great Typography Book..........1999-06-18
I have used this book this year and the alphabets in it are amazing. There is an alphabet for every type of effect imaginable, including explosions, and even one which makes you dizzy! The results are spectacular. This is a great book if you are into making posters, or if you're into commercial art. Definitely recommended.

The authors, pioneers in the use of communication techniques and media in development work, show how communication can be used to mobilize societies, to facilitate democratic and participatory decision-making, and to help people acquire new knowledge and skills. Among the issues explored are: social mobilization worldwide for child immunization; communication as a means of facilitating rapid advances in family planning; and the use of video to enable peasant farmers to participate in their own development.

Book Description
Until recently, central bank independence was confined to the US and Germany. As a result of stagflation and the espousal of neo-liberalism in the 1980s, central bank independence has been adopted in most developed and many other countries. This book questions the principle of autonomy, examining the Bundesbank in historical context, and exposing the flaws in both the technical and the political case for the wholesale adoption of the Bundesbank model by other states.

Just the Necessary Info Please.......2002-09-21
On my quest for employment I have read many a job search book. This book is nice and compact, offering the necessary info and steps quickly. The book outlines the essential ways everyone should look for work, warm and cold networking, using the internet etc. Farr takes you on a journey of worksheets that, before you know it, leads you to the type of job you want and the skill you have to get it. Other books attempt to do similar things, but don't have the clear/clean path this book does. In short this book covers the entire job search process from resume to interview and everything in between, in a short percise and effective way. I highly recommend it.
