Book Description
Gilles Deleuze was arguably the twentieth century's most spatial philosopher - not only did he contribute to a plethora of new concepts to engage space, space was his very means of doing philosophy. He said everything takes place on a plane of immanence, envisaging a vast desert-like space populated by concepts moving about like nomads. Deleuze made philosophy spatial and gave us the concepts of smooth and striated, nomadic and sedentary, deterritorialisation and reterritorialisation, the fold, as well as many others to enable us to think spatially.
This collection takes up the challenge of thinking spatially by exploring Deleuze's spatial concepts in applied contexts: architecture, cinema, urban planning, political philosophy, and metaphysics. In doing so, it brings together some of the most accomplished Deleuze scholars writing today - Réda Bensmaîa, Ian Buchanan, Claire Colebrook, Tom Conley, Manuel DeLanda, Gary Genosko, Gregg Lambert and Nigel Thrift.

I just recently purchase this book, at a time when I was getting a bit discourage as a stylist. It helped me to realize that there are good days and bad days and to keep my head up! I believe that the book chosed me at that very moment. It is very helpful in terms of preparation for production shoots. Also informative in knowing the different ways each photographer preps and how Mrs. Coddington binds with each photographer's concepts. I have had the pleasure of working with Mrs. Coddington as a model, and I can confirm that she is a down to earth person which makes one feel comfortable when working for her. Good ol' Charlie Brown!.......2006-06-12
The first section features Sunday strips from 1952,1953,1954,1955 and 1956.Snoopy is jumping rope,Linus is trying to throw potato chips and a lot about Schroeder at the piano!The second section features strips from 1955,1956 and 1957.It mostly features Charlie Brown as he has to struggle through life.
Peanuts Finds Its Niche.......2000-06-10
I believe this collection was originally entitled Good Ol' Charlie Brown. It seemed like Peanuts was truly finding its niche at the time these cartoons came out. You had Lucy being bossy, crabby, and chatty (is it any wonder Charlie Brown complained about stomach cramps when she was trying to teach Linus the "facts of life"?). Linus was beginning to enjoy the comforts of his blanket. Snoopy had learned how to dance and pantomime (he's a scream when he does imitations of Lucy, Violet, Beethoven- much to Schroeder's offense and Mickey Mouse). Charlie Brown had started asking the question "How come nobody likes me?" and of course, loses every baseball game (unless it's raining and the other team never shows up).
Btw, the title comes from a cartoon where Charlie builds a birdhouse for sparrows.

The Real American History.......2003-03-01
Forget those boring civics classes, forget those classes where American history's most important events were relegated to footnotes skipped over by the teacher. If Howard Zinn had not written "A People's History of the United States" Michael Linfield has written it for him.
Linfield's compelling revealations of the US government's record of civil liberties violations throughout our relatively short, bloody, aggressive and imperialistic history documents how every real and contrived wartime scenario has been used by the rulers to eliminate civil liberties and impose a true Pax Americana domestically.
Beginning with the American "Revolution" which appears to me to be less and less like a revolution and more and more like a contrived power and land grab by the greedy, not the needy. I believe that one could make a case for the fact that after their ascension to power, that American "revolutionaries" were as reactionary and oppressive as the power from whoom they had wrested control.
Each wartime scenario shattters any illusion of goodness or democracy with one holds certain rulers. As Jim Morrison wrote, "No One Here gets Out Alive." So, too, with the author. One comes swiftly to the conclusion that not one U.S. leader, either in declared wartime or between conflicts has really done anything to insure the civil liberties for which Americans fought and died on a myriad of foreign battlefields.
Linfield has written American history as it is, not as, Rush Limbaugh might ask, "The Way Things Ought to Be." This is indeed Mr. Wells' history, Howard Zin''s history, but not 10th grade American high schol history.
I highly recommend reading Linfield's book, checking out the footnotes and the primary source documents. Keep the book handy next time some...patriot resembling a beached whale drenches those around him with his version of American history. Linfield's book will rock their world.
Unduely neglected.......2000-12-15
Linfield's work provides a handy overview of extent to which Constitutional safeguards have been compromised over the years, particularly during wartime. Beginning with the infamous Alien and Sedition Acts of the Revolutionary war period, through the Civil War, W.W.I, and Vietnam eras, the author compiles a steady pattern of government assault on Constitutional restrictions whenever those restrictions become politically or militarily inconvenient. Of particular note in this regard, are the McCarran - Walter Act of the cold war era, aimed at resricting free flow of information and travel, and the notorious Palmer raids following W.W.I, aimed at curbing the rise of a socialist movement. Whether your politics are left, right or center, this historical record should be of interest. It shows pretty clearly how slender are these parchment-bound safeguards whenever established wealth and power feels threatened.

It won't tell you how to implement workflow in your organization, but it will tell you how to put a value to it and suggest a process to get the benefits in your organization. There is alot of work required to reap the benefits of workflow, but the payback can be enormous.
