Little Suzette and her nursemaid enjoy daily walks in the handsome park near their home. Often, they see a tall, elegant lady strolling in the park with her tiny puppy. Then, a comical incident transforms Suzette and the puppy into friends. The time and place of this gentle story is Paris in the 1870s, when many fine artists were creating the exciting approach to painting called Impressionism. As it happens, little Suzette's Uncle Edgar is one of those artists. He is the famous Edgar Degas. One day, Uncle Edgar sends an artist to paint Suzette's picture. Imagine Suzette's surprise, when the artist turns out to be the tall lady from the park! And imagine Suzette's delight when the little puppy comes with her! The result of this enchanting meeting lives on to this day in an art masterpiece. For the woman was the major American artist, Mary Cassatt. Her painting of Suzette and the little dog, known as The Little Girl in the Blue Armchair, now hangs in the National Gallery of Art, in Washington, D.C. Among this book's many beautiful full-color illustrations is a reproduction of the story's painting.

Nice book about an event in a little girl's life that introduces the child to Mary Cassatt and "Nipper," the dog.

I teach advanced placement art history on the high school level. This book is a great, quick resource guide to review each time period in art history. It describes the main themes in a clear and concise manner. A good additional text to accompany your primary reading source.

The decade of the 1990s has opened on a note of major change, with events in the Soviet Union, Eastern Europe, and South Africa moving at an astonishing pace, both on the political and economic fronts. These changes have brought into focus vital issues of political economy, a subject that this collection of essays carefully examines. Written for readers with or without a background in economics, the essays provide a perspective on economic systems, the underlying issues involved in creating an economic constitution, and the choices a society makes in designing an economy. Economists from Australia, Canada, France, the Netherlands, and the United States offer a stimulating variety of ideological and methodological perspectives. The collection begins with an introduction that reviews basic concepts of economic systems, including goals, the role of government, and efficiency and equity. The three essays that comprise Part I discuss basic issues in economic systems, and address the question of efficiency and equity in a free market from various ideological perspectives. Not for an experienced professional..........2006-10-18

I got absolutely nothing out of this book, and I doubt anyone else will either unless they have very little experience interviewing. It might be a good book for high school graduates, or socially backward college graduates, but anyone who's had more than three job interviews will find it lacks insight and is terribly boring.

I had to force myself to read the whole thing, which is pretty sad since it's a very short book. The only thing that kept me going was the thought that I can't review it in good faith if I haven't read the whole thing!

This is a very good book with many ideas on interviews and related etiquette, but unfortunately it just goes over the same things again and again. It could've been cut in half easily, without any important information lost. But this is a minor complaint - I can't wait to try out principles described in the book in a real-life interview.

This book does a great job of helping you answer the most difficult interview questions. As a training manager, who trains managers and executives on how to interview, I feel I am qualified to say this book works.

This book is a wonderful resource once you get the interview. This leaves us with the question, "How do you get an interview?" Simple, know the type of job you want and pursue it, if you do not know what type of job you want you may want to read the classic, "How to find your dream job and make it a reality." Threshold Entrepreneur: Team Version is a user-friendly Windows-based simulation which allows users to launch ,manage, and operate their own small business enterprise, while facing computer-initiated situations. It provides users with an opportunity to apply their knowledge of entrepreneurship to the process of managing a start-up business in a safe (simulated) environment. It allows them to learn from their mistakes without having to suffer a real financial loss, and improves their odds for success when they begin their business enterprise. Readers manage the start-up of a business that sells two plastic products, which are sold through retail markets to the general public. In the Team version, users are part of a group that manages its own company, and the company competes with other companies in the same marketplace that are managed by other groups. Readers use two screens to enter their decisions on company mission, goals, policies, strategies, and sales estimates; and, they can review previous quarters' decisions and results either on the screen or on print outs as they work. They see the results of their decisions and have an opportunity to correct mistakes in the following quarters of operation. They also process the decisions for the companies managed by the computer for their competitors. The program determines the number of products each company sells and produces a series of operations, marketing, and financial reports for the readers' company.
