Good Ideas for Interior Design.......2001-03-27

This book is the companion piece to the current show on exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. I just got back from seeing it last week and had to buy the book before i forgot everything from the exhibit. The show focuses on the future of work environments, particularly alternative officing solutions. The future of office work stations is growing more to the specific needs of the end user and how productivity can be increased by making the work environment ever more user friendly. the actual designs and concepts are really futuristic with lots of new technology, high-tech materials and psychedelic colors. The new designs aim at mimicking the shape and patterns of the human mind, supposedly making the interaction between end user and work station more compatible and comfortable. This book demonstrates the importance of designing around the personal needs and psyche of the people who spend the majority of there days working in an office.

I have this book and have referred to it many times and have used several of the patterns. There is a nice variety and the patterns cover a broad collection of interests and tastes. Excellent book and a must have in the stained glass studio.

The designs are wonderful;however, they are all in black and white.. I expected more...

Not only were there great traditional designs, but I also found some beautiful and unique nature designs which I hadn't seen in other stained glass books and I was definitely pleased. The contemporary designs range from fairly simple to complex, but do not contain patterns that are unrecognizable as some stained glass patterns books do. This book definitely has variety, variety, variety.

A regular source of inspiration for me.......2000-11-22

I have used a good number of the designs presented in this book for my own creations. Lots of contemporary floral designs and some traditional victorian patterns. Projects range from relatively simple to very complex - designs that fit very well in homes as in commercial establishments. I have adapted one design in this book to be placed in a piece of furniture that I created. All is in black and white, no pictures of completed projects.

These projects are well graded for the beginner and the more advanced worker. The text and photographs are of a high quality, clear and not over wordy. Patterns are well crafted and will make good copies. Nice combination of traditional ways of working with more progressive ideas Easily understood for this beginner. This is possibly David's best known work--- typical style using toys to depict real life events. This work is black and white and very moving. I recommend this book to anyone who loves Levinthal or wants a fresh approach to photography!

I read the book in one day.
An incredibly easy and insightful read. Highly recommended.
In the 1970s system theory was full of promises before falling
into oblivion. Graeme Snooks reactivates its
application to the social sciences. The result is
outstanding. There is a great story on almost every page of this book and it will be or interest even in fifty or
one hundred years. As an example consider the change in the
area of major countries between 1500 and 2000; it will be
quite to the point in 2100 as it is today.

This man has made a career out of orginiazing the works of Carlos Castanada... This book is written for the individual whom is tryng to live the teachings of the toltecs. Basically this book will condense the entire works of Castanada to a highly useful outline with page numbers for easy access to the original work. A very well-written and useful book.

Excellent introduction with detailed solutions.......1999-04-27

I've watched the words "Shareholder Value" creep into our business vocabulary over the past decade or so, and I've heard many explanations of how to optimize it. Unfortunately, there about as many definitions and techniques for measuring and managing it as there are books on the subject. I've read many of these other texts and worked with the other consultants Mr. Knight mentions in his book. But none of them have approached the precision and clarity of this book. Mr Knight starts with why management should understand the shareholder's needs and the proper methods for addressing those needs, then he takes the reader logically through all the steps (including the subtle nuances) of implementing such a program. There is no more comprehensive nor better written book on this subject on the market. If only Mr. Knight had written his book 10 years ago, many of us would have been saved from endless hours of vague and confusing meetings about what we were really trying to accomplish.

This book shows how to develop and implement strategies regarding value creation for shareholders. It has a very good mix of theory and business cases. The core aspect of this book is the theory behind the imperative link of: Strategic Planning, Budgeting, Financial Reporting and Incentive Compensation. This theory is tested against many sucessful business cases. The author also shows why some companies fail after incomplete or wrong assumptions on the value based management implementation.

This introduction to the special issue discusses the notion of marketing competencies in buyer-supplier relationships, and the role these competencies play in creating value for the customer. Existing work on the role of competencies in industrial marketing has two main foci. The first, established approach deals with competencies as inputs to organizational processes, and seeks to establish in how far marketing competencies such as customer relationship management, channel design, etc. lead to superior financial returns. The second, emerging, approach focuses on the marketing of competencies as a source for customer value. This article uses supply and demand side perspectives to look at these two approaches and suggests a typolology involving four distinct value-creation strategies. Recent literature is discussed and implications for advancing the application of resource-based thinking to industrial marketing are provided.
