Distilling the Scene--It works!!!.......2003-01-19

I have studied with Ron in the past and everything he teaches in his workshops is in this book! He definitely shows how to eliminate all the clutter when you're painting on location and get down to the "bare-bones" of it, creating more impact and life into your paintings.
The mainstay of the book is the Principles of Design which gives you a sort of checklist by which to gauge your painting's progress; he also places heavy emphasis on doing a tonal sketch first to allow you to sort out where your lights, mediums and darks go (something many students won't do). Using these principles has improved my painting abilities at least 150%.
His style of writing is easily read, and you feel as though you were talking with him, rather than reading a book.
If you can't take one of his classes, this is the next best thing!

What a wonderful book this is! I am a great fan of New York artist Alex Grey's work and he and his friends have made a superb job of this large format hard back book which features marvelous glossy photos from Darmanhur, the artistic and spiritual community near Turin in Italy. It's a must have for your coffe table if you're interested in the power of spiritual vision, artistic expression and intentional communities.

Un libro que tiene la inteligencia de llevarte página a página a ser un enamorado del Señor. Por medio de comic's muy bien ilustrados, Paco nos presenta muchas de las actitudes del cristiano y como éstas nos han llevado a tener una idea erronea del Señor. Simplemente tienes que leerlo para entender de lo que te hablo, Paco refleja su forma de ser (loca y divertida) en un libro que si no lo has comprado, te estás tardando.

This study examines increased water use by Afghanistan and its implications for other water users in the basin, including the Aral Sea, both in the short and long run through an overview of: a) the amount of Amu Darya flows generated in northern Afghanistan; b) the amount of water presently used in northern Afghanistan, prospective use in the near future, and possible impact of the increased use on the riparian states and the Aral Sea; c) existing agreements between Afghanistan and the neighboring Central Asian states regarding the use of waters in the Amu Darya Basin, their relevance and applicability in the present and in the future; and d) future directions for water resources development and improved water management in the basin.
