This magnificent book contains the 100 most important skyscrapers at the time of this book's publication.

Students of achitecture will love the well detailed aspects of each subject, including minor plans in some instances.

As would be expected the regulars are included (Empire State, Crysler, and Sears)and new buildings (Gin Mao) with the champions at the time, Petronas 1 and 2 rounding out the series. However there is a postscript history of planned and near finished buildings included, most are in Asia, but as this book was completed the Asian Econmic Downturn was having an effect on this fast developing Skyscraper rich region and some of these magnificent projects have been put on hold.

The events of September 11 have altered the world rankings for Skyscrapers around the world and this book is obsolete in that respect but as the pace of human development continues to run unabated we will soon see even more of these amazing structures in the near future.

Beautiful Book!.......2000-03-23

This book is the most informative book I've found on individual tall buildings. The photos are absolutely beautiful, and after reading the book, I felt as if I had really toured some of the world's best skyscrapers. Though, some of the buildings' heights are contraversial such as the Sears Tower which is more often claimed to be 1,454 feet. The book says 1,450 feet. Also, Miami's Southeast Financial Center is said to be only 738 feet, yet I've heard from several sources it is 764 feet. The CTBUH put a lot of research into the making of this book, and I can't blame them for slight errors.

Great resource for students in a math classroom........1999-06-15

I am a 6th grade math teacher. Every year my students need to research a building anywhere in the world. This book provides the information I require them to find about the year built, architects, height, and location. It also has wonderful photographs of each building that will enable students to write summaries of the observable geometric properties.

One of the most beautiful areas on earth........2001-02-01

Namaqualand is one of my favorite places on earth when it blooms. This book shows Namaqualand at it's best. It gives a little taste of what this area looks like when in flower. The pictures are stunning and spectacular. If you love the flowers of South Africa this book is a must. I hope to see this area in person some day. Until then I can look at this book and dream. Another good book on this area is "Namaqualand: A Succulent Desert" by Richard Cowling and Shirley Pierce, with Photograpy by Colin Paterson-Jones. Both volumes are wonderful.

I got this book before a trip to Rio and it was a waste of space! It was so vague, you could get the same information from any hotel. It's also not helpful to write a guide like this in novel form - we need lists and adresses and numbers. There weren't a lot of specifics and not that many stores given the book's size.
