This book ia a compilation of four sumi-e instructional series; Sumi-e in Three weeks, Floral Sumi-e in three weeks, Animal Sumi-e in three weeks, and Landscape Sumi-e in three weeks. The artist welcmes you to the world of Zen art by detailing the history and the influences of the traditions of the far east. Each section has details in "how to" for the beginner as the author walks you through each phase of learning the fine art of sumi-e. All of the instructional illustrations are progressive with details on each step and the final completed picture on the same page. Included in this book are some of the worlds most beautiful examples of the art of sumi-e. I have enjoyed the presentation of the author and give this book a high recomendation.

Mr. Steinkellner must have a highly tuned sense of the absurd. Where others see merely quaint old photos, he sees a world where a picture really does say more than 1000 words. They say just enough to fill a postcard. In this case, a picture says a thousand laughs.

I thought this book was exactly what it said it was: a 101-level focus on technical writing. From the skills required by a good writer, to a technical writing process, to the task-oriented focus of user guides, this book covered all the basics, and was even written with a sense of humor. I am purchasing this for my technical publications department, because I think it's good to review the basics as a team, and there are specific topics that are newer to the team, such as how to write for globalization.

This book provides a good overview for those considering a technical writing career. It may also be helpful for engineers and others who work with technical writers or who want basic ideas for preparing documentation. The chatty, breezy writing style makes the book an easy read. But the lack of in-depth information and its focus only on documentation and online help projects limits the book's usefulness as a daily work reference.

This book is very easy to read and understand. I ordered this book as a supplement to my current book used at my school. I would highly recommend this book to other new technical writers.

Practical and Educational.......2004-09-18

As the title mentions, Technical Writing 101, provides real-world planning tips. I found it to be very engaging, informative and very easy to read (finished within 24 hours of receiving it). It also sparked ideas on how I could look at a lot of projects I'm personally working on. The way the book is organized doesn't overload you with "too" much information. It also is very generous in providing other resources for further research and knowledge.

I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to get a good understanding of the technical writing process.

I was Wrong!.......2004-03-02

To all those who suffered at the hands of my union I am sorry.
We behaved in a most egregious manner, many of my members behaved most poorly and harmed the lives of many. Since my hiatus from public life I have become increasingly excited by libertarian concepts and ideas.

Among my favorite works are "Free to Choose" by Milton Friedman, "The Ten things You Can't Say in America" by Larry Elder, and "The Wealth of Nations" by Adam Smith.

As the world becomes more globalized the only way for the american worker and american business to survive is to confront the challenges of the global economy head on. We need to work with management and not against it to ensure prosperity not only for ourselves but also for the economy as a whole.

If we don't work with managment(as opposed to being totally against it) to make this country attractive for investment and thereby the creation of new jobs, our union risks becoming politically and economically irrelevant.

Nonsense!.......2004-03-01

A better title is The Same Old Rank and File. Unions often have the same problems as the communist governments of old. They often benefit top leadership at the expense of the workers they claim to represent, and use scare tactics and violence to punish those who wish to decent.

Second this book fails to acknowledge the thuggish behavior perpetrated by unions over the last 150 years. Just within the Teamsters alone intimidation, threats, destruction of property, and murder were used on those who stood in the way.

Therefore,I must give 1 star. If none were possible I would give this book none what so ever.
