does everything right.......2007-07-22

This book is great. Nearly everything about it is clear, concise, informative, and inspiring.

The format is worth mentioning because the author does everything right. Each chapter is dedicated to a single principle of lighting design, and is immediately followed by a case study that beautifully illustrates that same principle. Also, whenever the text mentions a particular building or room - there is always a lovely and appropriate photograph of that very same room or building RIGHT ON THE VERY SAME PAGE. This is a rare example of a well-concieved and thoughtfully executed book on architecture.

A very EN"LIGHT"ENING book!.......1997-08-15

Any spatial experience is intimately connected with the experience of light. The author has very articulately described this phenomena in architecture, using four major themes - where light helps with a physiological EXPERIENCE, gives a building FORM, defines and enhances SPACE, and thus gives it MEANING. This is an excellent book, well written and has a good association with all aspects of lighting, studied and explained with the help of a wide range of buildings and architecture. It makes a very strong (and convincing) argument, for all designers to pay attention to the importance of light while planning and designing their spaces or buildings.

Wet, Wet, Wet.......2002-06-02

I found this book at a Book Outlet store and thought "for the price, I should get it", so I did. I have to tell you that this is one of the best books to use to build up confidence and technical skills in wet into wet watercolor painting. Each chapter is fun to read and the examples (step by step) are so easy to follow that they help you become an "expert" by the end of the book. I have lots of watercolor books and have found this to be one of my favorites on wet into wet technique for the above reasons.

Wet-in-Wet Watercolor.......1999-11-25

Ms Speckman's book helped me break through to a new level of watercolor painting. She deals entirely with "wet-in-wet", breaking it down into three sections: The Saturated Approach, Painting by Sections and the Painterly Approach. Beginning with a practical and thorough discussion of paper and pigments as they apply specifically to wet-in-wet watercolor, she proceeds to original and effective step-by-step instruction. Although I have purchased and worked from many books on instructional watercolor, I found Ms. Speckmann's techniques to be unusual and exciting. I particularly enjoy her iconoclastic preference for opaque pigments and the way she showcases their unique qualities. Well written and lavishly illustrated, this book is a valuable reference work.

Beautiful, thought-provoking book!.......2005-07-13

Absolutely stunning book. Tells an amazing visual story of the world we live in. It just takes a moment to stop and think to see the depth of the story being told. And the Gap bag/slipgase that it comes in is SOOOOO cool!!

Glorified stock photography book..........2003-11-30

This has to be the worst Visionaire to date. What happened here? This is just a glorified stock photography book stuck in a cheesy Gap bag. Actually, I've seen stock photo books better than this! Bland, bland and bland is all I can say for the concept, design and photos in this issue. It seems like this is just a desperate attempt to generate some money while they work on a better (hopefully) issue of Visionaire.

Don't get me wrong, I love Visionaire and own quite a few back issues myself. I just expect better from them than this half-hearted attempt at exploring a place called home. You would think the creative team that made this would have been brimming with ideas on how to describe the concept of "home", but instead you'll flip through page after same looking page and then never look through it again.

Though any issue of Visionaire over number 25 is hardly "collectible" anymore, don't bother shelling out the cash for this one unless you are a diehard fan intent on having a complete collection. You'll probably find this issue in a bargain bin somewhere for 20 bucks.

This book it's great fun for all ages!

I bought this book in its Korean translation, during the height of the Pocket Monster craze. I then read this book to the class in my own English translation, I was thus spared all the inane "pika's" and "booboo's" which you see mentioned in the other reviews. This gave the class practice in the verbs "goes outside," "runs," "eats dinner," "sleeps." The students enjoyed the Pikachu character so much that they forgot that English class was supposed to be a drudgery.

I had only one problem: I bought one copy, it got stolen, I bought a second copy, it got stolen, and the store was out of stock when I tried to buy a third copy. That's why I'm ordering from Amazon.

Baby-talk in a baby book.......2000-10-11

I hate Pikachu, so this is a good product for me to spread my hatred of the little yellow rat to all.

"Pikachu goes out-pika-side..." ...nani! What in the world...? My god, such bad, bad grammer!

"Pikachu pika-runs". Pika-runs? How do you do that? I guess you have to be a pudgy yellow ball of mangy fuzz to do that...

This book is strictly for the tots. The under-three crowd would probably have a better understanding of this book than even the most revered Harvard graduate.

The "I'm Not Pikachu!" book is insanely hilarious, and one of my favourites since even the main character obviously can't stand the rat.

But this book? This pile of Pika that is dared to even be called a book? Buy it for the infants. They'll probably love it. (Mainly since almost all the inafants I've known know how to say "Pikachu" and they say it VERY well... *shudder*)

But if you're an older fan, don't bother. It's too idiotic. -_-

Certainly just for babies.......2000-08-06

This book was cute, but it is something that was certainly intended only for toddlers. The book has no educational value, like most of the other Pokemon Tales books. Using words like "boo-boo" and other childish themes, this book would be great for a little toddler who's just starting to like the Pokemon.

Basic.......2000-01-03

This is a very basic baby book that takes Pikachu throughout his day. Diaglog is "Pikachu goes out Pika-side. Pikachu Pika-runs..." It could be fun for preschoolers with older siblings who are interested in Pokemon.
