My business associate has this book and I want one for myself. We design and manufacture holiday decorations for commercial applications. I use this book to help me design Christmas themes for historic victorian towns in particular. I recommend it highly as a source for how Christmas was depicted and celebrated in 19th Century America. It even shows the first known Christmas card.

This is one of the best books that I have purchased for my craft which is stained glass. With the desire in the future to move into kiln work for glass fusing and slumping, I was very happy to find very valuable information in this book for my future endeavors. This book has high quality glossy pages with excellent instructions. The photographs of work completed by Masters in the Art of Stained glass is mesmerizing and truly inspirational. I highly recommend this book, you won't be disappointed! The best part is that the cost is way below retail!!
Great stained glass art book........2004-07-06
This is not a recommended purchase for someone wanting a hands-on introduction to the craft of stained glass. Although there are some chapters on techniques, it is very succinct and cursory, and definitely not a tutorial introduction. The value of this book is its comprehensive collection of works by internationally recognized stained glass artists. Examples of each artist are shown, and some commentary on technique is given. From this point of view, this book should be of interest to any beginner or advanced craftsperson looking for creative inspiration.

Don't waste your money........2002-10-11
I find it hard to believe that anyone found this book inspirational, insightful or instructional. I was looking for more design information and insight, and the description of this book represented it as such. The book jacket states "practical advice on design and technique". What little there is I found of no value. It also states "informed commentary". Again, I did not find any of the author's comments that accompany the pictures insightful or informed. They are minimally descriptive at best. The majority of artists are from the UK and not representative of wide variety of design. This book is out of print and I can understand why. I found it used at a lower rate and still feel that I wasted my money. There are many other books out there that have truly lovely and imaginative designs that would be worth imitating and considering for a commission design. These positive and glowing reviews and the book jacket description go beyond deceptive - they are simply untrue. I understand why the "review guidelines" discourage criticizing other reviews listed here. I bought this book based on the reviews I read here and feel they were very misleading and question their authenticity. Buyer beware!

This book is absolutely gorgeous, and it is truly an inspiration to artists in any media, not only in stained glass. The projects are a little ambitious for beginners and hobbyists like me, but the beautiful photographs and ideas give me something to aspire to. An invaluable tool.

A most inspirational stained glass design book.......1999-08-09
I highly recommend this book for a stained glass artist or anyone seeking to commission a stained glass piece for their home. The glass is painted, etched, & blown to create many stunning & unique effects.
Design themes include marine life, birds, animals, people, floral, religious & abstract. The book is filled with gorgeous color photos with captions for each window listing title, artist, size, & the glass types used.
I fell in love with a screen entitled "Waves" & one featuring sandblasted water nymphs. I also enjoyed another circular piece featuring the tree of life & flame. A huge abstract biblical window took my breath away.
There is a very helpful list of artists in the back. Contact information, pages their artwork is on & the kind of work they do is listed here. I find myself constantly looking to this book for inspiration & ideas.

This is a great book on traditional retouching. If you are looking for Photoshop techniques, this is not the book for you. Ms. Cass Weiss is one of the best there ever was and her book explains the use of oils and dyes very well.

Si quiere entender el "sentimiento" del mercado, como afectan las emociones en la toma de decisiones respecto a inversiones, y va a nvertir o lo esta haciendo, es altamente recomendable que lea éste libro. Contiene muchos ejemplos, es tan interesante que uno no quiere dejar de leer. Si esta en el camino de las inversiones en bolsa, debe leer también: Invierta con éxito en la bolsa de valores.

I wish he used fewer words to get to his point.......2007-09-27
It's mostly common sense advice. Stuff like "Think about your audience before you write" and "Email should be casual yet professional." There are lots of checklists that are too easy to gloss over. A book titled "Write to the Point" should help one write concise and precise writing, as Stott's book does. Iacone's book is more like a handbook of how to rephrase business writing for the situation and audience.

The Amazon editorial review for Dr. Iacone's recent book refers to it as an "invaluable handbook." It is definitely that. Discussion of personal stumbling blocks is easily (or should that be "are" easily ...?) located in this handy reference guide, and the discussion of common, and not-so-common, buggaboos is clear and concise. I work with engineers and architects who are bright, bright, bright, but would, along with me, benefit mightily from Dr. Iacone's book. It should be included on any workplace office shelf.
