Not sure if ALL are bungalows, but a lot seem to be.......2006-04-11

i am no architecture student, but a good number of these seem like bungalows. I bought this book because i liked looking at the photographs of the homes. i like craftsman style homes and there are a lot of those in here. it is a pretty book and I still enjoy flipping through it from time to time.

Off the subject.......2001-03-17

This book has some very nice views of bungalows but either the author or more likely the editor does not know what a true bungalow is. The range of the views is so broad as to make the subject meaningless.

It does not show what potential buyers are looking for. There are many important buildings, some by Greene & Greene, illustrated but not identified in the text of the captions. This is a book of nice photos of small homes, not one of Bungalows. It seems that they don't know what they are doing and are misleading readers with the contents and commentary.

Unless you are mereely looking for a few, very few, decorating ideas, the book will be of no benefit.

Bungalow Style - Good Design Tips.......2000-06-17

I see a lot of books about Craftsman style bungalows, but this one is more about interior design than the actual style of the house. It gave me tips for how to use things I already have in the home to decorate my house.

Outstanding portfolio.......2007-06-13

I was recommended this book by a colleague as I was starting to get into photography. My first thought was that it'd be boring - I mean photos of cats?! If I wanted that I'd buy a calendar. However I ordered it and it is brilliant. The photos are outstanding - nothing like your typical cat-calendar shots, but rather they capture the essence of the subject, which in this case just happens to be a cat. Add to that, the fact that it is beautifully presented, it could only be 5 stars.

I encountered Ernie while visiting the Tate Modern bookstore here in London over the weekend, and was instantly won over by his crazy, self-possessed ways. The genius of Mendoza's work lies in his ability to faithfully capture the personality of his feline subject, with the same amount of detail and devotion one would expect to see in photographs of people. As a filmmaker and photography enthusiast, I have accumulated a library of photography books by those renowned in their field, and Mendoza's masterful memoir deserves its place amongst them. Sure, he is not a Pulitzer Prize winning war photographer, the subject is light-hearted but it is also sincere, which is the most you can ask of an artist. Ernie is a fine example of what photography and portraiture should be: an engaging and revealing insight into its subject, one that compels the viewer to revisit the photographs again and again, delighting and inspiring with each subsequent reading.

I love this book. As a cat lover the book captured this cat's character perfectly. Loved the narratives of both the photographer and especially when he wrote on behalf of Ernie!! If you love cats, you will definitely enjoy this book and its pictures. I love Ernie!

A delightful favorite and a must for any cat lover.......2007-01-30

This little book is a personal favorite. After spotting it at a bookstore a couple of years ago, I've given it as a gift to several friends and family and all of them have loved it too.

The book shows its star -- Ernie the cat -- in a variety of poses: being playful with the author, fighting with another cat, yawning, stretching, sleeping, growling, chasing bugs, perched on the fridge, watching people from the window, and exploring the world. Each of the great black and white photos shows another side of Ernie, making him a lot more complex than one would consider a feline.

This book is a must for any cat lover. If you like cats, buy it. I think after you're through you will find yourself looking at it again and again. Definitely the mark of a classic.

Best Cat Book Ever.......2007-01-01

This book is in the waiting room at my vet's office. After reading it, I jotted down the ISBN number and ordered it for myself. Yes, the photographs are wonderful, but the heart of this book is the relationship between the cat and the photographer. All of us cat lovers (fanatics, if you prefer) know our animals well enough that Yes, We Do Know what they are thinking at times. The author perfectly captures the cat/human relationship with words and pictures.

Great book!.......2006-02-01

This is a great Peanuts collection! From Charlie Brown getting his revenge on the kite eating tree, to Peppermint Patty disguising herself as a janitor, the book is delightful from beginning to end.
One note: Although the Peanuts Parade books are out of print, I recommend getting a used copy of one of them rather than one of the Peanuts Classics. The Peanuts Classics are just newer versions with only 2/3 the number of strips, and they cost a good deal more. If you like Peanuts, get this book.

The book The Beagle Has Landed is a very funny book, if you like reading comics. I enjoyed reading the whole collection of peanuts comics.

This book of classic peanuts comics is perfect for the peanuts lover. in one of the comic strips bites the kite-eating tree. In another Peppermint Patty and Marcy are caddies ofr a golf course. It's really funny.

Researchers have yet to determine whether we are witnessing a sustained, economy-wide decline in the stability of American jobs, or merely a momentary rupture confined to a few industries and a few classes of workers. Thought-Provoking, Timely, Academic.......2002-07-28

In the latter half of the 1990s, we witnessed a number of substantial shifts in employment. Workers changed jobs every 2-4 years, on average. Employers weren't any more loyal to their employees either. The relationship between employer and employee was dramatically different than what we had experienced for generations. Attitudes were changing; behavior around employment changed along with the attitudes.

These highly significant changes were observed, studied, scrutinized, discussed, and mourned in corporate offices, think tanks, and college campuses across the land. Twenty-two of the folks concerned with the changes and their implications wrote essays expressing their concerns. David Neumark, professor of economics and Michigan State University and research associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research wove the essays together into this thought-provoking volume.

The fact that fourteen of the authors are professors or researchers should tell you something about the content. Those who are not affiliated with a college, university, or research organization are executives with organizations involved in the field as consultants. The book understandably has a strong academic flavor, clear evidence of the research-and-publish culture still prevalent in the academic world. This orientation brings a considerable depth to each of the essays, duly noted in graphs, charts, and footnotes.

The book is organized into three sections: Job Stability, Job Security, and Understanding Behavioral Changes. Chapters include such titles as Is Job Stability in the United States Falling?, Trends in Job Instability and Wages for Young Adult Men, and Has Job Stability Vanished in Large Corporations? More can be found in chapters titled Declining Job Security, Long-Run Trends in Part-Time and Temporary Employment, and The Implications of Flexible Staffing Arrangements for Job Stability.

While this certainly isn't bedside reading for most of us, for serious human resource professionals, social scientists, workforce strategists, and other professors, it's great. Good contribution to the literature, but won't be a best-seller.
