Good book on Local 40 Ironworkers.......2007-01-04

A good book for reading about the history and stories of the Local 40 Structural Ironworkers of NYC.

Great Story for Iron Workers.......2006-03-19

Rasenberger brings awareness to the little known and aknowledged trade of Iron Workers. This is an excellent book for those who are in the trade and those who want a close to real life view of who Ironworkers are and what their life was and is like. The book gives a pretty accurate history of the trade going back to the early Bridgeman to the current International Associates of Bridge, Structrual, Ornamental and Reinforcing Iron Workers. Being a 3rd generation Iron Worker I found this a very pleasureable read and recommend it to anyone who wants to know more about what it is that we do as we build America on Beam at a time.

Comprehensive info for artists, illustrators & crafters.......1998-04-20

Inspirational. Covers a wide range of subjects in detail not found easily else where. For example, as well as discussing techniques, tools and materials used in each area, details are also given for suppliers of many of the materials mentioned. Most chapters have colour photo step-by-step demonstations of the basic techniques under discussion and each chapter is also accompanied by fabulous photos of various illustrators work in the subject area. There is also an extremely helpful chapter on photographing your "illustration/artwork".

I particularly enjoyed the chapters on paper and fabric, and in regard to the fabric info, would recommend this book to cloth doll makers. There are many useful hints, wonderful photos AND a demo of Lisa Lichtenfels "creation" process of her Bette Midler piece. Ellen Rixford also discusses and demo's her techniques, which are equally exciting.

Although my interests lie with fabrics, I thoroughly enjoyed this book as a whole, and would now have a go at a number of the other techniques detailed. With the fantastic colour photos through out the book, I still re-read this book regularly, if not for inspiration, just for pure enjoyment!!

A great buy! One of those book you will always keep!

Disappointing for a 4 yr-old.......2007-07-22

Although the illustrations might be artsy and expressive, some pages lack dialog (ie. cartoon style, the frame centers on the character's expression or the big picture), the overall feeling is dark and the end describes/depicts the hunters shooting the wolf. While this might be true to the original, my daughter listened to this new version very quietly and, overall, I didn't think it was appropriate for her age so I returned it.

Incompetent trove of misinformation, useless platitudes.......2001-06-19

This book contains too many errors to blame some quirk. It is poorly conceived and written. Spellcheck may have been run, but this book was apparently not proofread by anyone familiar with the English language. The errors are inexcusable in what purports to be a style guide.

Instead of this waste, you might well enjoy such excellent guides as Plain Style, The Associated Press Stylebook, and The Craft of Scientific Writing.
