I can not explain the feeling of this book. Four words A SCOOL BOYS MEMORY. Being 33 years old now, this book brings back all memories of a young boys school days. I remember this book perfectly, and remember doing all the lessons that it contained. Call me sentimental, but i enjoy books that had a meaning to my life, and "May I Come In" is it. If a guy can remember such a long ago part of his childhood school memories, this book must be telling all something. My dream is to get this book in my hands once again-and remember what it was like to be a boy starting out in his road of life. MAY I COME IN? Please once again let me.

Great photographs, but you can do better ..........2002-07-21

Before Eudora Welty was a published writer, she was a semi-professional photographer. The "snapshots" (her term) in this book are eloquent images in themselves; Welty's accompanying essay, though brief, is excellent.

Ordinarily this would be more than enough for me to recommend the book. But in this case, there's a much better collection of these photos for you to own. _Eudora Welty Photographs_, also published by University of Mississippi press, includes the hundred photos collected here plus about eighty others. Although it lacks Welty's introductory essay, it more than compensates with a tribute from Reynolds Price and an in-depth interview. The photo reproduction is superior as well. So skip _One Time, One Place_ and buy _Eudora Welty Photographs_ instead.

Graphic SF Reader.......2007-09-04

A quite amusing spy spoof, with a bit of steel to it. These are your superheroic type of spies, crazy supervillains, James Bond types.

There is also the Red Wasp and Haiku, and the Tomahawks, etc. Many cameos and mentions and homages. Lady Pippa is a hornbag high up in the hierarchy of the Agency.

Daedalus the master villain has some statues - one is Doctor Doom, one is Megatron. Very funny.

For fans of this, the Avengers, all that sort of stuff, there is no doubt you should enjoy this.

There is still an ideological and political conflict at the heart of it, though, so it is not completely lightweight.

I have had the pleasure of being a student in two of Mr. Dolan's courses. He has provided a valuable tool with this book to assist people in preparing clear and concise reports or other business communications. If anyone has a chance to (or priveledge) of taking a course with Mr. Dolan do so, it is well worth the effort.

"Everything you think about writing is wrong," says Author Michael Dolan, and he promises that his book can get rid of outdated ideas, change the way you think and make you a better writer. The book's goal is to remove outmodeled thoughts that prevent quick easy communication and to help people feel confident and comfortable about writing." It shows you how to begin and how to keep your reader's attention whether you are writing a letter, report, memo or novel. Whether you are a student, a professional, or just enjoy writing for fun, you must buy this book! Dolan covers almost every possible aspect of writing, from essays to resumes, letters to brochures (even though he suggests paying a pro to create your brochure). My personal favorite is Chapter 11-"Sensible Mechanics Without a Bunch of Useless Theories and Rules." This book is a great tool to get you through those tough college courses, or just to use for reference.

Better than most.......2000-11-27

I never knew a writing book could be fun to read. The author has a simple sense of humor that keeps things working. At first I didn't believe there was such a thing as his universal format for writing anything. But now I see how it works.

I really got something I could use with my memos.

Some of the exercises were a little weird. But you don't have to do them. I liked the cartoons too.

This study of union organizing activity in U.S. manufacturing industries is designed to help business executives weigh one of the must important factors in site selection for new facilities¡Xlabor climate.

The study provides the most complete record and analysis available of National Labor Relations Board certification election data. The basis for the analyses in this study are the raw data reported by union by the NLRB. To make the data more mean-ingful, Kearney: Management Consultant developed a computerized database to simplify the task of comparing geographic areas and to enable the conduct of more discrete analyses.

Measuring Union Climate first analyzes the factors that are contributing to heightened interest in labor climate as a consideration in facility location. The study then proceeds to several analyses designed to help manufacturing executives evaluate labor climate in different geographic areas of the U.S. Among these are:

„h Geographic analyses of union election success trends in the U. S. regions of the U.S. states and metro areas
„h Analysis of trends in decertification elections.
„h Analysis of most active and most successful unions by U. S., states and metro areas.
„h Growth in manufacturing employ-ment versus growth in union membership.

Additional analyses establish previously undocumented relationships affecting unionization. These include the propensity to unionize versus the size of the group voting in the election; unionization among minority v populations in areas history of unto a unionization on and the likelihood that it will unionize in the future; and the effect of right-to-work laws on union success rates. In many cases, the conclusions explode popular conceptions.

Numerous appendices detail and sup-port the conclusions of the authors. Here NLRB data give election results by indus-try and by moat active unions for the nation, region and selected metropolitan areas. Thus, the study enables the business executive to select those areas for new plant sites which match his company's prefer-ences in labor climate.

Shervin Freed is a vice president the Manufacturing Group of Kearney: Management Consultants He has conducted and supervised many studies manufacturing strategy, facilities planning and site selection. Before joining Kearney. Freed held positions as Chief Industrial Engineer and Plant Industrial Engineer for manufacturing companies.

Joseph Lichko is an associate with Kearney Management Consultants. His education includes B.S. and M.S. degrees in mathematics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and an MBA from the Graduate School of Business at the University of Chicago, where he worked primarily in corporate finance and marketing.
