Excellent Historical Archive of Chalet Design.......2003-11-17
This wonderful book has thankfully been saved from obscurity and repinted. It is a treasure trove of Chalet architectual detailing. Craftsman's art that has long since died out, it has many pictures showing how the construction was done. Floor plans large and small you could build from today. They also delve into how this vernacular developed over time. Explains the rocks on the roof and the purpose of the wedged shaped eves (avalanche protection). If you have a Chalet project or a curiosity about how these were made, this is the book for you.

This book is a great reference for doing exactly what the title says," Communicating effectively on the job". We used it as our main text for a business writing class I took and I would never sell this book back after the fact. It's an easy read, clearly explained, and there are several examples as well as a corresponding website. It's the first thing I reach for when I need to write any business correspondence. Good buy.

This book was a great reference for me when I wanted to write a business proposal, memorandums, and a rhetorical analysis. Great grammar tools in the back as well and easy to follow.

This book is good mostly for people who want to improve their writing skills. It doesn't matter too much if they are going to write an email or a fax, because the book covers just some email features.
If you think you do need a guide in writing style and grammar, and you send messages by email frequently, you'd like this book.
If you want a book with the "dos and don'ts" for email messages, keep searching, please.
Great Primer for those new to e communication.......2000-07-06
I purchased the books for use by my team and they enjoyed using the books to improve the impact of their messages. We communicate daily via email and at times it is the only way we can communicate so as you can imagine, our email has to be precise and informative. I highly recommend this book for those new to e communicating or for those of us who never really knew there were rules... Also a big bonus is there is a section on grammar and how to communicate effectively while maintaing good grammar!

The writer's handbook.......2001-08-12
The usefulness of a book to me is being able to quickly locate topics, understand explanations and view varying examples. This book has complete coverage of the multitude of writing events anyone will ever encounter. I took a college report writing course and this was the text. I was able to swiftly progress through assignments and grasp the concepts being presented. The course culminated in the writing of a formal paper with appendix and introduction, to works cited and glossary. It's easy to understand when you are given wrong examples to compare with correct ones. This is an excellent reference book. I am not selling it back to the bookstore!
