Book Description
The third volume in the best-selling LogoLounge series provides 2,000 totally new logos from designers worldwide. This book, like the previous titles in the series, is compiled in association with LogoLounge.com, a website that was launched by Bill Gardner in 2002. The site is dedicated to logos. Top designers and design firms supply multiple logos to the site. Each LogoLounge book presents thousands of new logos that have been added to the site, providing designers with a timely and invaluable source for design inspiration and a resource for design solutions. The first portion of the book profiles 10 top designers recent work in the area of logo design; the second part of the book contains almost 2,000 logos organized by logo design (typography, people, mythology, nature, sports, etc.)
Customer Reviews:
A designer's bible.......2007-05-14
This series is a must have for any designer. Not only is it great for ideas, but a nice tool to have when a wishy-washy client just isn't sure what they want. If you are a serious designer, you must own all the Logo Lounge books.
Logo Lounge Strikes Again.......2007-05-14
Always a fan, the assemblage of brands from every corner is impressive and helpful. The Lounge has always been and continues to be a wonderful resource for jump-starting logo block.

AMAZING.......2007-04-14
Great book for inspiration and search for the right ideas. This time RockPub. is making few more pages showing how the logos work in the graphic design environment.
I was excited to see foreign companies using the latest styles in advertisement, like the russian phone company "BeeLine."
Wold highly recoment this book for a graphic design major and advertisement.
Very inspiring.......2007-03-16
I've used this book a couple times now for inspiration, and it doesn't disappoint. It's organized by theme, which is very helpful since it allows you to consider the myriad different ways of approaching the same challenge.
Highly recommended.
Book Description
This book takes all the logos that were in Rockport Publisher's best-seller, LogoLounge and collects them in one small, neat, pictorial handbook for easy reference.
There are no lengthy case histories, just logos, logos, and more logos. It's a fast-paced book featuring one to six logos per page to allow designers to easily shop for ideas. Logos are among the most important elements a designer can create, so it is no surprise that they are always looking for new, fresh ideas. LogoLounge delivers just that. Its predecessor showcased the logos along with the stories of how they came to be; this compact version puts the spotlight on the logos alone, making it the perfect handbook to logo design.
Customer Reviews:
Very Inspirational.......2007-03-08
When i ordered Logo Lounge i wasnt to sure as to what to expect. After receiving the book I found it to be very inspirational and can really get the creative juices flowing. Especially when your stuck with a creative block (which sometime or another all designers get) It is loaded with examples of commercial and non commercial logos.
The first section of the book has a detailed approach as to how some design firms came up with their design for their clients. They talk about the design process, show great examples, and talk about some of the problems and solutions they had while doing the design.
The rest of the book has loads of examples of logos all sectioned out in a nice format (type logos, crest logos, animal logos, etc...)
Overall it's a good tool to have on any designers shelf at home or work!
Great series of books!.......2007-02-26
I'm very impressed with the wide array and organization of this book (and the others in the series). Such great colors, and layout... everything just makes me want to study every last detail on every last page. I've bought the first two... and have added the third one to my wish list. If you want to be a good logo designer but experience "designer's block," this should get you over that [...]. Thanks, Bill Gardner, and all the fabulous designers who were featured in the book!
Size does matter.......2007-01-10
The larger format of this book, hard or soft cover, deserves 5 stars. This new pocket size (5.5" x 6") proves to be awkward and detrimental to the viewing and appreciation of the graphics.
VERY USEFUL.......2006-06-28
I bought it last year, and it has been very useful for my job. I can find many different kind of logos.... it's one of my favorite books...
awesome.......2006-03-23
great logos and tons of them. a little hard to understand at first how they organized the logos as far as who did what but once you get the hang of it, no biggie. A definate book to get inspiration from
Book Description
Features 2,000 logos and provides fresh inspiration to anyone looking to direct the design of their own identity.
A searchable database of more than 36,000 logos by keyword is available by subscription on the popular website, www.logolounge.com, launched in 2002 by author Bill Gardner. If you don't have a subscription but would still like to see the best logos on the site created by top designers who often maintain low profiles, then the new paperback edition of LogoLounge 2 is for you.
Recent noteworthy projects that are claiming the public spotlight are profiled in this book. It covers identities created for various industries such as airlines, networks, dot-coms, banks, and fashion, as well as lesser-known boutique projects in which the designer's name is larger than the client's.
The first portion of the book profiles ten top designers and spotlights their biggest, newest campaigns. A handful of their smaller projects are also featured, including some that have never before been seen. The second half of the book contains almost 2,000 logos organized by logo design (typography, people, mythology, nature, sports, etc.)

Well edited.......2007-01-10
Well printed, well edited and an excellent resource for designers and creative individuals.
Very Helpful.......2006-11-10
Great for idea gathering and inspiration. It keeps you up to date with the newest logo designs.
Disappointing sequel.......2005-10-22
Logo Lounge 1 is a must-have in my design library - I refer to it often. Unfortunately Logo Lounge 2 seems lackluster, uninspired, and disappointing. While it contains the same quantity of logos as the first book, the solutions are much less imaginative and the profile section at the beginning is too long and the designers profiled, and their work, are difficult to relate to.
The Culture A.D. review.......2005-10-07
The straight to the point advertising and design agency review. For our agency Logo Lounge 2 is a excellent visual reference. It allows us to quickly "thin slice" the visual trends as well as give us in depth case studies. It's a hot source for inspiration that puts your head in the right space for designing logos that speak intelligently and conceptually to help with branding opportunities for clients and their consumers.

Book Description
British art and architecture of the 1950s are little known but extraordinarily topical today. Of particular relevance are the activities of the Independent Group, a loosely structured organization whose members included artists Richard Hamilton, Eduardo Paolozzi, and Magda Cordell, photographer Nigel Henderson, critics Reyner Banham and Lawrence Alloway, and architects Alison and Peter Smithson, James Stirling, and Colin St. John Wilson, who sought the essence of the everyday through a sensitivity to the hardships and charm of life in the raw. "As Found" encounters the transdisciplinary relationship between the constructed environment as it is visually perceived and verbally expressed.
Edited by Claude Lichtenstein & Thomas Schregenberger. Artists include: Magda Cordell, Richard Hamilton, Nigel Henderson and Eduardo Paolozzi. Architects include: Alison & Peter Smithson, James Stirling and Colin St. John Wilson.

Book Description
Think you're smart? Try these: the actual puzzles used at the annual World Puzzle Championships! This volume contains two years' worth of astounding brain-busters from international competitions held in the Czech Republic and Turkey. Don't speak Czech? That's OK--all of the puzzles are designed to be language- and culture-neutral, so everyone can play.
Customer Reviews:
Truly challenging reasoning puzzles.......2007-07-06
These puzzles push the limits of a puzzler's logic and reasoning capabilities. It's even more amazing when you remember that these are the same puzzles that are done under time constraints in a competitive setting. They're difficult enough being done at one's own leisure! I love these puzzles for keeping my reasoning skills sharp. All you need is logic to do these, no matter what your native language, nor how much trivia you know.
serious disappointment.......2002-01-11
I enjoy problems and puzzles that make you think. Most of the "problems" in this book can be solved by tedious trial and error. There is hardly any need to or opportunity to think rationally. If you like grunt work in solving problems you might like this book, but if you like challenging thought problems, this is the wrong book. I gave it a one star rating because zero stars is not an option.
A waste of money!
Book Description
If one name stands out among musicologists writing today, that name is Joseph Kerman. Eminent, wide-ranging, and wonderfully readable, Kerman's writing on musicology, opera, Beethoven, and Elizabethan music has informed and inspired an extensive audience both in America and abroad.
There is much to interest both the general reader and the musicologist in this collection of twenty essays. Included are several notable pleas addressed by Kerman to his professional colleagues in an effort to get them to adopt a more critical orientation for their work. Other essays range from a moving account of William Byrd as a spokesman for the beleaguered Elizabethan Catholic minority to a discerning analysis of Beethoven's well-known obsession with the key of C minor. The controversial tenets of Kerman's classic Opera as Drama (1956) are reaffirmed in essays on Don Giovanni, The Magic Flute, Tristan und Isolde, Ernani and I Lombardi.
Kerman's legacy to a younger generation is here, too: in an exemplary writing style, he offers challenging models for a humane and historically informed music criticism. An added gem is the Preface, which provides an intellectual and anecdotal road map of the place of the essays in Kerman's academic and public expeditions.
Joseph Kerman has been at the very center of musicology for almost four decades. This overview of his work will be warmly received and greatly valued.

Book Description
What exactly is it about murder that claims such a powerful hold on the American imagination? In this book, Sara L. Knox examines postwar America’s preoccupation with this act of violence. Demonstrating how American culture both consumes and produces tales of murder, Knox examines numerous relevant narratives—news stories, psychiatric testimony, legal transcripts, fictional accounts, and examples from the thriving literary genre of true crime.
In her approach to the telling of this cultural phenomenon, Knox draws on historical analysis and original research. She discusses such subjects as the continuing existence of capital punishment, the “sensational” American murderers Martha Beck and Ray Fernandez (aka the Honeymoon Killers), the connection between true crime books and romance narratives, and pulp murder novels of the 1930s and 1940s. Analyzing widespread interest in forensic psychiatry, sexuality, mortality, and the relation of gender to society’s reactions to murder, Knox refers to the early work of David Brion Davis, Bill Ellis, and Joel Black. While demonstrating how society’s focus has shifted from the act itself to the psychology of the murderer to the broader social forces at work, she discusses the writings of Willard Motley, William March, Curtis Bok, James Baldwin, and Kate Millett, among others.
Full of anecdotes and insights, Murder is a lively meditation on American culture that includes not only close critical readings of individual texts but also everyday matters of murder’s meaning. It will interest those involved with American studies, cultural studies, and true crime accounts.
Customer Reviews:
Unpacking True Crime.......2003-08-16
Knox elegantly maps the connections between murder as event and its subsequent translation into narrative in American culture. Her intellectually rigorous study is framed by a poignant narrative of her own impulse to tell the tale of murder. A must buy for those interested in Cultural Studies, narratives of violence, or in scholarly true crime.
