The Everything You Ever Wanted To Know (& Thensome) Book.......2007-05-12
This book is great...it has everything from tying knots, workout regimens, motivational anecdotes, all the way to macrobiotics and sex-enhancing techniques! This is by far the ultimate everything book! I was looking through a copy that one of my friends had and went to both Borders and Barnes & Noble, but they never seem to stock the neat titles I find! I immediately came home and ordered the book on Amazon.com and it came quick, in great shape, great transaction, great book!
Enlightening and packed.......2007-04-30
This book is full of great and interesting ways to accentuate your health and well being. Although you might want to really delve deeper with other volumes, this one is a great and diverse reference for asian health techniques.
The Art of Shen Ku.......2007-03-20
A manual for everyone to have to refer to for various life experiences. I recommend everyone to have this as a part of their survival kit in everyday life.
Priceless!.......2006-11-24
As a life-long student and practioner of martial arts and esoteric arts, the author, whoever he is, Zeek?, is a genius with respect to collecting and organizing an amazing amount of Asian Secrets that are essential to those who are determined to grow and lead interesting lives.
Save yourself a tremendous amount of time and money toward searching the world for "The Secrets" and instead get Zeek's book.
After owning, studying and using this book for more than a year, my questions are: "Who is this guy", "How did he find all of this information", and "Is he going to write more books?"
Get this book and buy an extra copy for safe keeping.
A very useful book.......2006-11-21
In the movie "MirrorMask" there is a publication titled "A very useful book". This is the RL equivilant for the physical world. (Sufi Book of Life for spiritual/mystic matters) Worth reading/memorizing for the 'boy scout' stuff alone, this is an infodense version of practical ways to survive, live and enjoy life.

Customer Reviews:
It's great ! Step by step modelling...like at school.......2007-07-30
I didn't want to use another 3d program as Carrara but I need it to build airplanes from drawn plans. This book gave me the possibility to understand how doing it! I have search around the web for tutorials on modelling airplanes or human figures But i never found something exaustive! This is a great book the only thing you need is to calm down your adventure spirit and follow step by step the author because sometimes result hard to understand even for novice like me.
A must have however !
A good book.......2006-06-14
This book covers a lot of modelling concepts for the beginner, and walks a person through the steps needed to model in a variety of ways (spline and vertex), and even has a chapter on modelling with Hexagon. Furthermore, the book briefly mentions the pro's and con's of UV, procedural, and projection mapping. Its tutorials are good for getting your feet wet, and a pretty thorough introduction to Carrara.
It may be missing some new Pro 5 features, so it might not be ideal for the seasoned Carrara veteran, however for beginners and intermediate people, its a fantastic resource.
I initially let some of the negative reviews persuade me from not buying the book, however with so few printed resources, I decided to get it. It was well worth the money spent, and I'm very glad I did buy it.
Much needed book!.......2006-06-05
Besides being the only Carrara book available besides the manual, this is still a great book. The author also wrote a Carrara 3 book, which has alot of the same wording, but the tutorials are different, so I recommend having both of them. The manual that comes with Carrara tells you what the program can do and the basic steps to do it, but this book tells you step by step how to do things. And sometimes you absolutely need to have two different views on things. Carrara is a low end 3D modeler, but it's still very hard to learn, not withstanding that even after two major patches, Carrara 5 is still a very buggy program!
Good Beginners Tutorial Book.......2006-03-16
This is a beginning/intermediate level book in tutorial format giving an introduction to 3D modelling using the Carrara 5 Pro software. 3D modelling is not simple, regardless of the software selected. And Carrara is no exception. This book though uses a step by step approach that introduces new terms like texturing, caustics and rendering with a combination of text and illustration that is as clear as any explanation that I've ever seen.
Throughout the book all kinds of images are used as illustrations. This includes fairly complex structures such as airplanes, cartoon characters, and human beings that get pretty close to photographic quality.
The book is supplied with a CD-ROM that includes a demonstration version of Carrara 5 Pro for Windows and Macintosh OS X. It also includes the modeler package Hexagon (Version 1.2). If you are thinking of a 3D package, this book with the demo software would clearly give you enough information to decide if Carrara is the package you want to use.
This book is the first one to come out that covers Carrera 5. Being the first, it isn't as complete as some of the other books will be. But once again, this is a book for beginners.
A solid book that is packed with useful tutorials.......2006-03-10
This a great book that really fills a void in the Carrara community. While there are many online resources for helping users learn this app, this is the only comprehensive project-based book available (other than the "Carrara 3 Handbook" by the same author). It is aimed primarily at the intermediate user; however, it contains some 3D basics available in the first few chapters to help beginners get up to speed, and some advanced tutorials in the last few chapters that advanced users can benefit from as well.
I could go into detail about the content of each chapter, but one of the reviewers above already does a great job at covering them.
The only reason I didn't give this book a full 5 stars (would have just gone with 4 and 1/2, if Amazon let me..) is because there are some cool new features of Carrara 5 that didn't make the book in time for its release. I will say that the upside to this is that we still have a huge book that was released within *just over a month* of the software's release.
Learning any 3D app is not easy. This book significantly cuts down on the learning curve with its project-based, easy-to-understand content. If you're looking for a glorified manual, then look elsewhere. If you want an informative, hands-on content-rich book that makes learning Carrara really fun and practical, then pick up this book. At around $30, you're absolutely getting your money's worth.
Book Description
If I Die Before I WakeÂ
is a journal filled with moving essays and quotations to inspire the reader to life with no regrets. As Personal Coaches, June Sharman and Traci Vujicich have found that too many people get to the end of their lives to find that they didn't do what they wanted to do. Rather, they spent their lives focused on the "shoulds" and the "can'ts". Your life doesn't need to be that way. If I Die Before I WakeÂ
is a journal filled with essays on specific topics that people often neglect. By reading them, and then writing down your ideas, plans, and goals, you can prevent yourself from saying ÂIf only I hadÂ
 Readers say: "Â
a profoundly powerful book. It needed to be written, and it needs to be read by everyone. Often poignant, often hilarious, this thoughtful work is truly a 'must-read'."
Book Description
From the dawn of humankind to the present, we have been in search for the magic elixir to give us happiness or to lessen our state of discomfort. With the complexity of the human condition, what does it really take to be fully alive? Mark Hood reads from his book and gives a comprehensive perspective on "Being Human", chronicling the topics of optimal health; attitude, optimism, self-destructiveness, narcissism, altruism, placebos, humor, relaxation, toxic people, daring to be different, social support, men and women, the search for ourselves, exercise, motivation, power and finding that secret element called "IT".

Live Before You Die.......2003-07-29
This book is well written, and surprisingly different from most self-help books. It is not the kind of book that tells you everything can be just fine if you take prescribed steps. Nor is it the kind, so popular today, in which one gets "yelled at" for failings. It covers material that will often be familiar to people who read books on stress management, but inevitably it treats its topics with a new twist. For example, Hood deals with relaxation training, but focuses on the daily use of "mini" relaxations, so readers are more likely to be able to apply relaxation methods to their lives. He discusses healthy versus unhealthy defense mechanisms, the health benefits of keeping pets, both of which will be familiar to students of stress management, but he also discusses the benefits of giving and acts of kindness as well as of patience and self-discipline.
Hood provides advice on dealing with work stress but focuses on developing one's strengths rather than working on one's weaknesses.
The author also does a nice job of dealing with the impact of toxic people on one's life, and he uses Dr. Laura as an example of such people, a criticism many of us see as long overdue.
This is an easy, quick and pleasant way to understand what is known about how to use the mind for health and psychological well-being. The advice given in this book has a good basis in scientific research.
This book makes me think about how I have been living.......2002-04-28
Lots of funny examples of such a serious topic...psychology and learning how to live. The chapters point to areas of our lives in which, if we concentrate on, can help to improve the quality of each and every day. Some of these topics I was aware of, but Mark has an unusual way of presenting the information.
I have recommended it to my closest girlfriends so we can talk about some of the ideas.
THe pictures were an interesting addition to the chapters.
This is a good book for people that think they are neurotic. Like he says in the beginning, maybe we are not as messed up as the culture portrays us to be.

Book Description
Questions, questions, questions! Live Before You Die helped to set the stage for this comprehensive workbook. Oh, To Be A Glow-Worm has been designed to pull you into thinking about the ways in which you need to live, as well as the ways in which you block yourself by setting the stage for an unfulfilled life. The questions were created from the information contained within my book, along with suggestions by those who have contemplated my ideas. These are the specific questions that will begin the process of awareness and then the initial movement toward greater internal positive change. The questions target the areas of; parental influence, belief systems, professional bliss, social support, humor, crisis vs. opportunities, internal dialogue, exercise, relaxation, altruism, motivation, focusing on each moment and God.

Tough questions designed for positive outcome.......2003-12-23
This workbook was purchased for the purpose of helping our group facilitate a discussion about finding more meaning and direction in one's life. The questions are focused on creating more positive force in how we must each live our lives. We would recommend this workbook to counselors as well as adolescents who are in search of overall health and contentment.
This is not a workbook that canbe completed in one or two sitting. It needs to be savored and reflected upon for lasting results. Great for charting an individual's path toward wholeness.

Very Very Funny Book.......2001-11-29
This is a great book! I have read and reread it several times over! It is well written and very funny.
Mr. Dan.......2001-05-31
After knowing Dan for a little under a year, I've became good friends with him. One day, he came to me and said that he just sold a huge quantity of them (even though thats what any new rising author wants to here) and I congratulated him. After that, however, he would not stop talking about his book. Soon he pestered me into buying a copy and I finally submissed into doing so. As I read the book I noticed that the pages denyed me any right to put the book down. I've even caught myself calling into work sick a few times in order to finish reading it. Before now, I've never read, or seen for that matter, a comady and page-turner in the same book. I quickly read the book a second time and I'm anxiously awaiting his newest release, what ever it may be!

Book Description
Fires, floods, celebrity lifestyles, heroic acts of humble people, and cute acts by family pets. Sensational news seems to take up an increasingly large part of contemporary broadcast journalism, but it is regularly dismissed as having no place on our screens.
In Tabloid Television, John Langer argues that television's "other news" must be recognized as equally important as "hard news" in the building of a comprehensive study of broadcast journalism. Using narrative analysis, theories of ideology, concepts from genre studies and detailed textual readings, "other news" is explored as a cultural discourse connected with story- telling, gossip, social memory, the horror film, national identity and the cult of fame. An eclectic and intriguing look at one of the most maligned areas of television news, Tabloid Television offers some interesting speculation about where the news might be heading.
Customer Reviews:
a scholarly treatise on a populist revolution.......1999-03-15
Five stars for effort and for filling-- at least somewhat-- a major gap in the coverage of television history.Mr. Langer's work is an expansive (and expensive) overview of a television revolution that still has not beeen given its due respect. One would have liked to read an account of this genre from the INSIDE... to find out what made these television journalists (and extremists) tick... to get some of the dirt that these shows "dug up" on others... but for now this scholarly treatise will have to suffice. The book has the facts, it has the university opinions... what's missing is the fire, the spark, the soul-- the humor-- that made tabloid TV so vital in its day.
