I have really enjoyed this item. As others have posted, the color palette is limited and some of the designs are detailed, but mixing paints, trying new techniques, and coming up with your own design if you can't duplicate the sample are all part of the creative process! I am new to painting, and I have had so much fun with these little paintings. I do them during my lunch hour, and it adds a nice little break to my regular workday. I definitely recommend it, but not for kids -- this is a grown-up's toy.

A must-have coffee table book. No one that has come into my home since I bought Bullas' book has failed to pick it up and laugh. A great compliment to my taste and Bullas' charm. My teenagers love the book. I've given it as gifts to friends of all ages (my mother loves his work). Thanks for offering something so special.

Susan Branch's wonderful artwork and stories that are throughout this perpetual calendar/journal always brings a smile. She comes from a large family, and shares creative and thoughtful ideas for entertaining, celebrations, and holidays that I find to be an inspiration. The binding allows it to lay flat, the paper used takes ink nicely, and the dated spaces are generous. Even after making good use of this same book for so long, I've never grown tired of it, and look forward to starting a new one each year. With the purchase of this one for 2007, I now have a row on my bookshelf dating to 1997!

I just discovered Susan Branch's stickers/books/stencils/stamps/etc. I ordered this book for next year, and want to get one for my sister. It's so cute, and there are lots of Susan's drawings and watercolored leaves, flowers, and hearts...I can't wait to start using it. If you love Billy, Carlos, & their new friend Tyson, you'll love this cute little book. Or if you own all three dolls you definitely have to have this book to go with them. This is a story book for adults that brings to life these different & life-like dolls. By the end of the story you forget they're only dolls and believe you're reading about real people. Quite an accomplishment by David & Dianora.
It's the story of Billy who has almost everything, the perfect body, a great New York job, and a beach house in Provincetown. What more could he want? A boyfriend who happens to be a fireman and is called Carlos. Then along comes Tyson. This is a cute little story, as well as a cleverly designed book. It's a must for you Billy lovers. Truly enjoyable, and fun.

Perhaps... one of the most unique books ever written about Abraham Lincoln or any other president. Honestly Abe A Cartoon Expose' of Abe Lincoln is a satirical and historical analysis of the man beneath the stove pipe hat by Lincoln impersonator Charles Brame. Combined with the efforts of Edgar "Sol" Soller, Brame compiled a political cartoon biography of one of the and most prolific writers in history. For more than 22 years, Brame has been on the stage as Abe Lincoln, both courtesy of his resemblance to the president and his Master of Arts in American History from the University of Missouri. (He) has simply pilfered scenes from his own act and merged them with the talents of an acclaimed political cartoonist to bring his show to the bookshelves. This method proves entertaining and informative with each page offering a different insight into Lincoln's life before, during and after his presidency. What is most refreshing is Brame's treatment of the more interesting accounts of his life. There is certainly nothing new in Honestly Abe for scholars who have read the myriad of words printed about Lincoln. But for those who have never had the patience to wade through a 400-page text about the president to discover interesting anecdotes and stories, this book will be an eye opener. For example, Lincoln was the first president to sport a beard, the only one to ever hold a patent, and the first to have (small) children in the White House. This led to some uproarious occasions, especially during a meeting with a group of society ladies when his son Tad thundered through the hallway pulled by a team of his pet goats harnessed to a chair. Each fact is accompanied by one of Soller's detailed illustrations. Lincoln was also the king of presidential writers. He produced more words than his favorite author, William Shakespeare....This from a man who by sheer determination (and a nasty habit of reading everything out loud) overcame his poor early education. He was perhaps the first president to champion the necessity of education across the nation. Lincoln's life and exploits are still an education and Honestly Abe is an enjoyable look at Lincoln 101.

Honestly Abe is a sound and fascinating biography that will fascinate and inform readers young and old. Highly recommended for both school and public library acquisitions, and a "must" for students of the Civil War and Abraham Lincoln.

As a Lincoln enthusiast and teacher I found Charlie B's book outstanding. The writing is entertaining, informative, and exudes a love for Lincoln. The cartoon graphics and printing are excellent. I found neither misprints nor factual errors.Overall the treatment of Lincoln is charming without being debasing. It is very readable. I wish I could produce a book as enjoyable as this one.

Quite simply, take it from me, this is the BEST book you have never heard of and don't own! This is BETTER than "War and Peace" and you can get through it much faster! It's DIRTIER than "Tropic of Cancer" if you use your imagination, FUNNIER than Mel Brooks, DEEPER than Thomas Pynchon, and MORE CYNICAL than the complete works of H.L. Mencken! Plus not only is the wordsmithing marvelous but the drawings are just heart-warming! And it is a rare opportunity to see the EARLY WORK of two creative masters from way back in the Twentieth Century!
