Has a amusing section on the making of manga with the Assistants slaving away . It's got some H moments with a guy drawing a girl he knows nude. So its probalby not for a 13 year old unless your a guy. I really used The Complying
Characters more than this sense i dont use Toner.

Its usefull if you want to use tones and learn about perspectives and shadeing but if you dont then save your money for something else, also there is a bit of nudity so I would suggest 13 up.

A complement to the first book in this series, this edition focuses on backgrounds and effects. That said, it covers action lines, perspective, and toning with insider techniques such as drawing motion lines using a thumb tack, etching, applying tone, and creating tone effects. I also rather liked how it used actual panels from manga's printed like Those Who Hunt Elves, Angel Arm, and Lucky Rakuun.
This book is more for the aspiring mangaka who will use the knowledge of toning to great use unlike the average artist who just want to learn the drawing style. This book has four pages of nudity near the end as it covers shading the body using tones. If you're buying a toning book for a younger reader, get the Pen & Tone Techniques edition which has no nudity present. Other than that, is you're not adverse to nudity, then this is the best book to start learning how to tone.

This is good book, but really expensive and short.This is about backgrounds in manga,and this book teaches how to make background , what shows mangahumans feelings.This book has about 4 pages whit naked mangahumans, so this is up 13 aged.Im 13 and i like this series

Great short book to get you started in clay.......2002-02-16
I first took this book out of the library, but after wearing out the pages, I decided to buy my own copy. It is logical in its progression of explanations from centering the clay to teapots. The pieces shown in color photography are delicious and gave me lots of ideas for developing my own pots etc. It is short but parallels the descriptions by the teacher in the course I am taking. You will not go wrong with this purchase. It is short which is great too, so it is not overwhelming.

From the author: We investigated differential sex-biased parental investment in relation to social status in 59 Kavango males from Rundu, the administrative and commercial center of the Kavango district in northern Namibia, and in 78 Kavango males from the rural areas around Rundu. Twenty-three body dimensions were used as indicators for the probands' social rank in the groups. The males from Rundu surpassed the males from rural areas in nearly all anthropometric features, but the urban males had significantly less offspring, especially fewer dead offspring. The association between the anthropometric variables and the number and sex of the offspring showed marked differences between the two proband groups. Although in the rural areas robust males had more children than smaller and leaner males, the taller and more robust males from Rundu had fewer offspring than smaller and more slender males. These results indicate that males from rural areas and males from urban areas follow different reproductive strategies.

Whew! What's that smell?.......2005-01-28
Wow, what a rank book. Wildly disorganized, stupidly insulting, this book might even be able to damage the reputation of The Man Show...which was at least funny. That's this book's greatest flaw: it's crude, it's sexist, it's forced, it's derivative, and it's not even funny. The Publisher's Weekly review above is, if anything, too kind.

Stacey Luftig's "The Paul Simon Companion" is rich in information about the singing duo of Simon and Garfunkel. Tons of informative articles, a comprehensive bibliography, filmography, and listing of Simon's records and song titles. This is the book you'll want to read to, "make the morning last." Luftig is a treat!

If you are interested and intrigued by the music of Paul Simon, and have wanted to know the hows and whys behind his music, then this is the book for you. It is a compilation of interviews with and articles about Simon. The only flaw I saw is that there seems to be nothing written by Simon himself. (If my memory serves me). However the selection is fairly complete, but ends just before the Capeman play.I learned a lot about how he writes songs, and got a glimpse into what makes Simon so able to write songs that move so easily from the personal to the universal, and which have such a great mix of intriguing lyrics, and music to get your groove back. If you saw him in concert in the summer of 1999, you have to get this book.
