First of all, this book is funny. The stream of consciousness, thinking aloud style of Paul Werner is terribly amusing and extremely entertaining which puts it in a class of its own. Paul Werner does not pontificate, does not condescend... he just dissects with great wit and surgical precision the politics of a privately owned museum in today s world.. We understand how some museums are more obsessed with selling their brand name to cities in need of tourist attraction than showing us the gullible public works of art worth seeing. Anybody who thinks something is amiss in the art world must read it. His description of being a tour guide to hairy 200 pound lifelong bikers in the now infamous Motorcycle exhibition seems straight out of a Chaplin movie...

Simply simplistic!.......2007-08-25

There are a billion ways you can go when you start up After Effects. It's wonderful to know that once I generate the ideas of what I want to do but don't know how to pull them off, all I have to do is find the tutorial for it and "Genius!" I've learned them and am able to modify them in any direction I want to go. Trish and Chris Meyer have a good handle on teaching, sometimes complex VFX maneuvers, in such easy to follow and understand terms. I highly recommend any of their books on this subject.

los Meyer ya saben como darnos la informacion, afortunadamente son libros muy faciles de leer aun si tu nivel de ingles es limitado.
Este libro en especial tiene una serie de ejercicios que refuerzan lo basico y nos expican lo avanzado.
Si ya has comprado libros de ellos, puede que te parezcan repetitivos, pero no te dejes llevar por eso. hay ajustes pequeños que te hacen ver diferente el proceso.
Adobe After effects es un programa en crecimiento, por ello, no subestimes en la informacion de estos libros.

Semi-Advanced.......2007-01-29

This is another excellent After Effects guide that deserves to be in the library of any AE professional. However I was a little dissapointed with the contents. Being titled: Advanced Techniques, I expected to learn a lot of new techniques, but found most of the content was already well known by myself. I also found quite a lot of content was repeated in the other two After Effects books by the Meyers.

This is still an excellent book to have as a reference, and there are some great topics covered. It's very well written like the other books, and I don't regret the purchase at all. My complaints are probably mostly due to the fact I have learnt quite a bit since finishing the first book, for people who have finished the first book and want to learn more this would be perfect. But advanced users should perhaps look at After Effects 7 Studio Techniques which has more advanced content.

Be Warned, this book is for version 5.5.......2005-12-25

This book only to find out it's for version 5.5... Not a cheap book, as I already have purchased it.

Creating Motion Graphics with After Effects, Vol. 2: Advanced Techniques (3rd Edition, Version 6.5) .......2005-09-15

If you are a novice make sure you get Vol. 1 it is really great. I bought volume two because I learned so much from volume one and what a great AE reference book to have sitting on you shelf. Whenever I have a question the book has an example that I can apply to my project.

The sixteen lectures by Geoffrey Payzant in this volume are all about one little book by Eduard Hanslick, Vom Musikalisch-Schönen - On the Musically Beautiful. Published at Prague in 1854 and a mere 104 pages, VMS ran to ten German editions and many translations in Hanslick's lifetime (he died in 1904). One may agree or disagree with its arguments and conclusions, but there is no denying that musical aesthetics as we know it has been given shape and direction by this small classic. Payzant's lectures examine aspects of the Hanslick debate which have received less attention than they deserve. In particular, they offer a fresh look at Hanslick's use of the German words Ton (tone) and Gefühl (feeling).

Although this is simply a selection of Eduard Hanslick's reviews and essays, the discerning reader will find elements of a drama unique in the history of music. It is no accident that Hanslick alone, of all Wagner's contemporary adversaries, is still remembered. Nietzsche, as a reformed Wagnerite, was an added starter, and his opposition hadn't the dignity of Hanslick's lifelong resistance to "the music of the future." Nor has Nietzsche today the distinction of serving as the historical example of the critical reactionary. To the best of the editor/translators knowledge, none of Hanslicks reviews and essays (with the exception of the early "Beauty in Music"/"Vom Musikalisch-Schönen") had been published in English before this book.

Review of TV characters and story facts.......2000-02-04

We purchaced Vincent Terrrace's book Complete Encyclopedia of TV Programs in the late 1970's and found it to be almost unabridged, hence making it the best reference book we had found on televison. In an effort to update the new programs from 1976 to 1992 we purchased TV Characters and Story Facts 1945 to 1992. However, there were many programs missing from the new book, such as: Starsky and Hutch, Mannix, and the Rookies. Instead of attempting to include all the years from 1945 to 1992, maybe the author should have concentrated his efforts on more complete programing from 1976 to 1992. Maybe it was a matter of economics that prompted this book instead of just adding a third volume to the Complete Enclopedia of TV Programs.
