Just what we wanted.......2006-02-19
I do have a weakness for Mary Engelbreit - not really the queen for a day stuff - but I particularly like her illustrations of young girls reading etc. So we have an 8 year old daughter who loves reading but is compulsively forgetful about library day and all things school (as well as everything else!) etc. so I have put these posters around the house where they are eye catching - she will hopefully read them and they'll make her feel good and their gorgeous detail will inspire her and then she'll remember to think of her school things needed - ha!ha!ha! :) And even if this highly sophisticated plan doesn't work - I will enjoy them everytime I walk past! The cardboard is lovely quality, the colours beautifully reproduced and the selection of illlustrations timelessly appealing. Highly recommended to anyone involved in the daily lives of young learners and readers.

All the Best ME in One Place.......2005-07-30
As a ME fan for years, I was thrilled to get my poster book with Mary's Classic drawings, including my favorite, "Snap Out of It". I will be able to project my mood to co-workers easily as I hang up the different posters on my cubicle wall. The quality is very high; the stock is substantial, not flimsy, and the colors are rich and vibrant, as they should be for Mary's work. All posters are a standard 11x17 to fit in a frame. I plan to use some in my ME room on the wall that can be changed out periodically. I also got the Classroom Collection and the Christmas Collection. Both had wonderful pictures I especially enjoy like "Believe" and "Books Fall Open, You Fall In". I expect to get many years of enjoyment from these terrific posters. They are easily removed from the binding and can be stored there when not displayed. The cover is a very heavy cardboard and protects the posters well.

Exactly what I thought. I'm a huge fan so I love this book! 12 -11x17" poster/pictures ready for framing and hanging. A few of the posters include, The Queen of Everything, Princess of Quite A Lot, Everyone needs their own spot, and 9 others! If you enjoy Mary's artwork grab this. A great cheap way to decorate a new house or a apartment. Just have to buy the frames now! I was hoping for something for a baby nursery, but nothing would be appropriate for a baby boy. But lots of colorful artwork for a playroom!

I loved this book. I went right out and bought a frame and put one in my kitchen! There are some I plan to give as gifts. Everyone I showed it to fell in love with it! I was having a hard time finding M.E. pictures for my M.E. Kitchen I am trying to do but this solved that problem. There is something for everyone in this book. The variety is wonderful.

Great for Reference and Fundamental Overview. .......2006-02-25
I've been mixing and Recording music for 15 years and have done a number of major motion pictures now, but always felt slightly in the dark regarding some of the technical jargon and workflow for Film and TV post production. This book is clear, to the point, easy to read, and a constant source of reference for me as more and more work i do is for Film and TV. As someone who has had a lot of experience in audio, I really appreciate that the delivery of detail is not dummied down, but that it's nor over explained either. This is a great launchpad for people needing to grasp a fundamental overview of the whole process. It should be required reading for anyone who considers themselves a TV or Film or Commecial producer.
Definate key text for students of sound and film.......2005-11-11
This is the book I wanted to write! There are many books out there around this subject, but this text is comprhensive AND comprehensible! It covers every area of the post production process ( and a good deal of giudance for the recording of production sound too) in exactly the amount of detail that is needed, with each technical topic supported by useful and informative technique and advice.
The chapters on editing sound give many valuable pointers that will help anyone who is learniung this craft to develop a strong skills base, with really useful practical tips. There is no important technical information missing; all the standards and formats are addressed and explained in easy to read language, so that you're not left with an incomplete picture, and it's up to date with contemporary systems such as Windows XP and Mac OSX, hard disk recording and digital TV, DVD, diffusion systems for broadcast (surround) and more.
So to sum up, this is a really good read, and worth having as a reference book for anyone studying or working in this field who wants to get a a good understanding of the entire process of audio post, and I would also recommend it to film makers as well, as it is a good read and will inform and enlighten.
I have included it my essential reading list for students on our film and sound design courses.

Great resource to learn flatpicking tunes.......2007-04-16
The product description doesn't do this justice. This is a terrific resource if you want to flatpick fiddle/bluegrass/OT tunes. There are 20 standard tunes. Each has the following 4 parts laid out in notation and tab
1. A beginner's version;
2. An intermediate version;
3. An advanced "hotrod" version worthy of a contest;
4. An ending that can probably also be used to end any other tune in the same key, so it's very versatile.
It's recommended you work through all the beginner versions before going onto the intermediate; it'll take you several months do that.
The CDs walk you through each tune, though I'm not big on CD instruction. Nevertheless, the CDs also have a full speed version of each tune where Steve plays through all three versions (and then repeats the beginner version). I found that putting all 20 fullspeed versions on a CD makes its own great CD and is a good way to "get the songs in your head."

As I've progressed it takes less time and it's just plain fun to learn good arrangements to standard tunes. And I've still got the intermediate and advanced versions to learn! Just a terrific resource for great tunes. I'm through the beginner versions and am half way through Volume 2 (same set up; same quality).
For the ambitious beginner through advanced flatpicker........2006-10-05
You will get your money's worth and more with this Book/CD combo. It's a great way to expand your flatpick repertoire. The tunes are brilliantly arranged, you'll find signature phrasings as well as surprises as you work through the book. I've had it a year and have only learned about half the material. But I have come to understand that Kaufman has a consistent, well organized approach to flatpicking. He is a great teacher, and this is the best resource I've found for learning solid arrangements of flatpick tunes. Also, I've won contests using arrangements in this book. Highly reccomended.

great songs, and great licks.......2006-12-14
I chose this volume of the Parking Lot Series first because it teaches guitar licks to vocal songs. There are great songs here, and what's nice about bluegrass guitar is that the licks you learn will fit in a lot of different tunes. Nine Pound Hammer is great, the version of Blue Moon of Kentucky is impossibly fast. Some songs are harder than others. There's a lot of things to learn here, and Kaufman is a great teacher, not too much and not too little. I would recommend this most strongly for someone at the intermediate level, because the beginner versions are boring and the advanced player might become bored. Intermediates can grow into the advanced version with enough practice. The Amazing Slow Downer has really helped me use these CDs more effectively, you can slow down CD tracks without changing the pitch.
