A great starting point.......2007-09-02
This book is a great starting point for kids to get a handle on drawing. My 6 year old and 4 year old love it! They use this book nearly every day to help with their drawings. Art is not my thing, so it even helped me!
Great buy!.......2007-07-02
My son's preschool has this book and when I saw what he could draw from it, I knew I had to get it. He has never been much into drawing, but with the help of this book, he really enjoys it! It's a great book!
Wonderful.......2007-04-16
I bought this for my almost 5 year old daughter who loves to color and draw. At kindergarten round up the teacher was telling us how important it is to teach your child how to draw step by step. I think this book is exactly what we needed. My daughter likes how the pictures turn out and she is able to follow the directions 1,2,3,4 with some help.
Excellent tool for 5-9 set.......2006-11-05
My daughter loves to draw but gets frustrated when her attempts are not recongizable to others. This book breaks down each animal into simple shapes a child can copy. It is easy to follow and my daughter has been pleased with her results. I have seen an improvement in her drawing ability and confidence to try more difficult things.
Very good instructions and entertainment.......2006-01-29
My son is 6 years old and he loves this book. The instructions are very clear, he has no difficulty in following them. He has created dozens of pictures since buying the book and is quite happy to spend hours simply making pictures. He gets a real sense of accomplishment from being able to create the pictures. I highly recomend this book.

How to draw simple.......2007-01-10
This is a great book for the kids who are horse lovers at heart
Good Book.......2005-07-28
My Daughter loves to draw and she loves this book!!! She is 8 and this was perfect would recommend again!!!
Very poor book.......2005-03-11
Since I ordered this for a young budding artist, I was willing to wait awhile until it shipped. What a disappointment - this book is not at all what I expected - I imagine I should have been warned by the price. There is almost no instruction about drawing horses - the pictures are pretty but they will not help in actually learning to draw horses. One star is almost overly generous for a "learning" book.
This is supposed to teach you how to draw?!.......2004-09-07
This book is pathetic. It has almost no instructions, only not-very-realistic horse drawings on each page. If you want a great horse drawing book, check out "Anyone Can Draw Horses." This book uses non-conventional methods, such as sketching the basic skeleton to get the horse's shape correct. It never ONCE tries to make you use circles and other geometric shapes. (I don't know about you, but this never works for me! The drawing just gets disproportionate!) However, if you like the circle method, try "Draw 50 Horses."
A good way to go..........2004-06-18
It's an ok book. The drawings are a bit hard but if you just try, the results are great!

Customer Reviews:
The Sound of Music: The Making of America's Favorite Movie .......2007-05-13
I bought this book prior to my recent trip to Salzburg, Austria. I found it very informative, and well written and certainly helped me in my quest to locate the various filming locations from the movie in Salzburg. There are some great behind the scenes photos, and excellent details about the actual production of the movie.
Any fan of The Sound of Music would thoroughly enjoy this book.
Wonderful Tribute To One Of The Most Loved Movies Of All Time.......2006-05-27
It's taken me a long time to track down this beautifully put together homage to one of my very favourite movies of all time. And what a total joy this book proves to be for anyone like myself who remains entranced by this magical film an amazing 40 years after its initial release. This superbly put together book by Julia Antopol Hirsch is most definately a labour of love and is filled with really everything you would want to know about this most special of movie musicals. Boasting a touching forward by none other than now deceased director Robert Wise the book takes us on a informative journey through the history of "The Sound of Music", from its formation as a hugely successful Broadway show right up to the planning, production, and release of the motion picture, then up to recent times where it examines the film's enduring popularity with audiences both young and old years after it's first release. The volumne has some wonderfully candid photos of the production during rehearsals at Twentieth Century Fox studios in Hollywood, to behind the scenes moments when cast and crew are relaxing between takes and even soaking up the local sights of beautiful Salzburg, Austria on those rare days when they had days off filming. The book also includes beautiful colour and black and white photos, a rare shooting schedule, cast and crew profiles, interviews with stars including Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer, and a highly interesting look at the original premiere of "The Sound of Music" in 1965. In it's 226 pages it even also finds time to give an outline complete with photos of the real Von trapp family members with a special focus of course on the immortal real life Maria Von Trapp.
This book has quickly become a treasured part of my personal library and for any lover of "The Sound of Music", it is a indispensible companion for everything you would want to know about the whole history of this immortal musical. The book makes a perfect companion to the brand new 40th Anniversary DVD edition of "The Sound of Music" released late last year which is a treasure trove of all things "Music", and it has certainly informed even a "The Sound of Music" buff like myself of many things I did not know about the film prior to reading it. I highly recommend Julia Antopol Hirsch's warm, informative and at times even amusing tribute to Hollywood's most loved musical. Reading through its pages the book has succeeded in actually increasing my affection for star Julie Andrews and the film in general, no small task considering my lifelong love of this special film. Enjoy!
Great Book for All movie-goers;you will LOVE this one ! AA++.......2006-03-21
Very well written book. A must have for all ' Music, ' fans!
A "Sound of Music" must have.......2003-09-11
No "Sound of Music" collection is complete without this book. Its eight chapters take you through the entire Sound of Music experience, from the real Von Trapp family to the original stage production to the movie's production, release, and success. I have a hard time choosing what I like best about this book because it's so complete. There are eight pages of color photos, handwritten production notes, early storyboards, and a plethora of candid photos from the cast and crew's private collections as well as some memorable studio stills. Author Julia Hirsch integrates diverse elements and perspectives to give a thoroughly enjoyable and well-rounded look at this beloved film's journey from concept to the classic it remains today. You'll find interviews from every cast and principle crew member with special biographies of the more important players. Other features include shooting schedules and casting and location notes. One of the real treasures though is the stories that came out of this production and are told here. It is a simple pleasure to read about the people and friendships that made the movie so endearing and enduring. I can't recommend this book enough for "Sound of Music" fans. Not only will you read and reread it, you'll grow a new appreciation for the movie and want to watch it over again.
Very Fascinating.......2003-07-23
This book is extremely interesting! I very much enjoy all the "behind the scenes" of this movie. From the conception of the film making to the fruition is so captivating. After reading this, it makes me more appreciate the hardwork of everyone in this film. Despite of Christopher Plummer's thoughts and feelings about his role, he makes me more think highly of his skills. I find him a very wonderful and versatile actor. Very believable and what an awesome performance! I watched SOM again and again after reading this book. I don't think I'll ever get tired of this movie. My love for this movie hasn't faded since I was 15. I am in my golden years now and still loving every minute of it.

a rich source of anecdotes.......2001-05-07
This is based on interviews with 75 contemporary musicians, mostly rock and pop, including Eric Clapton, the Beatles, Branford Marsalis, and others. It's an excellent source of anecdotes about musical creativity, including peak experiences and the use of drugs.
Book Description
Sudoku is the number-placing puzzle that is spreading across the world. The rules are simple, you do not need to know any mathematics, all you need is logic. The puzzles in this book do not require any guessing. They can, and should, be solved by logic steps. This book contains 200 difficult Sudoku puzzles, including solutions and clues. All of the puzzles in this book are made by hand and carefully tested to make sure they are difficult but not impossibly so. You should be able to solve one of the puzzles in under 30 minutes. That means this book can keep you occupied for up to 100 hours! The book also includes a few examples on how to solve Sudoku puzzles to get you started in case you have bought this book without ever having solved a Sudoku before. If that is the case, the clues may also be of help. However, this book is intended for the reasonably experienced Sudoku player.
Customer Reviews:
Misleading title.......2007-09-14
I purchase this book because the title says 'Difficult'. I have work through many Sudoku books, and was looking for books containing only difficult puzzles - like many veteran Sudoku fans. I was happy when I received the nicely printed one with 200 'difficult' puzzles. I immediately started with the last puzzle to see how difficult they were, and to my dismay I solved it in minutes. The same went the other last few puzzles. I was able to finish them with a few written notes.
Now I have retitled this book '200 Easy Sudoku Puzzles' give away to beginners.
NOT difficult.......2006-04-20
... at least, not according to Will Shortz's standards. Will Shortz is the editor of the NY Times crossword puzzle and has several Sudoku books to his name. From what I've seen, his books always include a range from "Light 'n Easy" to "Beware! Very Challenging". So far, I've only purchased his books, but since only about 20% of them are really tough, I thought it would be nice to get a book with nothing but the brain-squeezers. Unfortunately, the Sudoku puzzles here all fall into the "Light 'n Easy" category.
A rule of thumb for how difficult a Sudoku will be is how many digits the puzzle starts out with. A really hard one may have 17 or 18. The ones in this book, by contrast, have 25+.
From the Board Games Editor at BellaOnline.com.......2005-12-12
This is a great sudoku book as far as "bang for your buck" goes, especially for more advanced sudoku-ers, who may find themselves completely skipping the "easy" or "medium" puzzles in mixed-level sudoku books. The puzzles here aren't impossible, but they are relatively tough, which is nice! Because of the degree of difficulty, this book will take most puzzlers quite a while to work all the way through, again making it good bang for your buck.
From what I understand, all mistakes have been fixed and the book is now in perfect puzzle condition, just make sure you get the second edition (which you will if you buy it at Amazon.... if you pick it up at a bookstore, double-check.).
Many difficult puzzles.......2005-12-02
This book contains a LOT of puzzles, and instead of half of them being easy or medium, they are all difficult. Ofcourse, difficult is a relative term, but if you've only solved easy puzzles before, these may take an hour or two. The typo mentioned below must have been fixed, because I didn't find any. It's a very good book really, and it lasts forever!
Nice puzzles.......2005-10-16
I liked this book, the levels are always relative and I don't think these are supposed to be the hardest puzzles, which suits me fine. I think it would be Easy, Medium, Difficult, Very hard, Fiendish or something like that.
There are actually a limited possible puzzles with only 17 numbers, so when you get down to that few starting numbers it literally can't get any harder. With that in mind, puzzles with 25 starting numbers was exactly what I expected after reading the description of this book.
They don't take an hour to solve though, probably more like 15-20 minutes for most people - but on the other hand the puzzles that first appeared in the newspapers were really simple and this book was written in reponse to that about a year ago. Nowadays people have gotten a lot better at solving the puzzles and so the puzzles in the newspapers are now significantly harder.
According to the last page, there will be a book out soon with REALLY hard puzzles, 18 starting numbers and so on - I'll be waiting for that one! All in all, it's a good book, but not for hardcore sudoku solvers, if that fits your profile I'd recommend the 100 Samurai Sudoku Puzzles instead.

Book Description
Mastermind, the BBC television contest, has subjected more than 1,400 would-be Brains of Britain to its rapid-fire interrogation. But after 25 years, the program was broadcast on television for the last time in September 1997. Its winners—taxi drivers, diplomats and teachers—became national celebrities and the program spawned an obsession with general knowledge, from Trivial Pursuit to pub quizzes. Its success has been due to a simple formula, the consistency of its standards and in large measure to the gravitas, courtesy, and humor of its Icelandic-born question-master, Magnus Magnusson. His book of behind-the-scenes or in-the-chair anecdotes is a valedictory celebration of a much-loved program.
