Definitely a must for any fan of heavy metal art/illustration not to mention motorhead fan. Joe Petagno has some really intense depictions of the apocolypse, mythical creatures, dark beings, and the many faces of his creation (motorhead mascott) snaggletooth.

I was turned onto this series just by it's beautiful artwork. The syle is truely unique and angelic...no wounder it's about angels.

The story starts off as a young teenage boy soon finds out that he is in love with is sister! As if that could be strange wait till you here this. The boy, Setsuna, is the re-incarnation of one of the most powerful angel's in history; and now people all over heaven and hell want him.

What will it take to convince Setsuna, that he is greatly needed by humanity...

Angel Sanctuary.......2006-10-20

This book is mainly focused around Setsuna Mudo and his forbidden love with his little sister Sara. Things get complicated almost immediatly (as it has a plot, a subplot and lots of extras), angels, evils, monsters, evil cd-roms that kill you and craziness insue.

Basically Setsuna is the reincarnation of the Organic Fallen angel Alexial, who has three wings, incredible power and a physchotic twin brother, Rosiel who she 'failed' to kill in the great battle. His best friend is Kira, who seems to be guiding Setsuna, and has been following Alexial through her multiple rebirths. Sara, Setsuna's sister and lover seems like just a normal girl, but is she? Many other seemingly 'background' characters come into role and the whole story starts rolling.

The drawing is so beautiful, I've been turned into a complete Kaori Yuki worshipper. I own her artbook and have read lots of her other works (I recommend Godchild). The characters are so gorgeous, you'll fall in love with them.

The plot is very very twisted and intricate. You have to read the volumes in order, otherwise it will make no sense. I have reread the first few volumes many times to understand (the first volume especially, as the first few pages don't focus on Setsuna) I first read this when I was about 12, so it was desperatly confusing, but it gets easier to read as thigns start falling into place. It's one of those things where all of a sudden a lightbulb lights up and you totally understand everything that happened.

It's such a great manga, it's so gorgeous and has a gorgeous story to go a long with it, what more could you want?

He knows that it isn't right and so he tries to avoid her but in the proccess he gets mixed up with a bunch of demons that say he is the reincarnation of a really powerful angel.

I enjoyed this book in fact I love the series and the art work. I find it funny and at the same time it has that element of seriousness...now I'm not one to encourege insestious relationships but this book didn't bother me to much about it...

many reviews say angel sanctuary is not for beginers. to many plot lines, is the major complaint. however, if youve ever read series of novels such as 'a song of ice and fire' or 'wheel of time', then i think you could pick this up easy. as long as you start from the begining.
that said, on to the actuall review.

first of all, the artwork. in a word, brilliant. kaori yuki is one of my favorite manga artists for this work alone. stylish without being to over the top, angel sanctuary is beautiful. also, pick up the art book that goes with the series.

the story of angel sanctuary is one of the best ive ever read. the main charactar, setsuna, is a 15 year old kid who has a few problems. his parents are divorced, he gets beat up, and apparently he is the reincarnation of a (female) angel who, a long time ago, rebelled against god. as if that werent enough, he is in love with his sister sara. some might say, "oh, thats disgusting!", but really, thats one of the parts that makes this story so interesting. its a true love story.
later on in the series, it gets very violent, and the incest theme is intensified, so the strictly religios or weak of heart, stay far away. as for age limits, i read it last year when i was 14, and i was hooked. (it was also my first manga.) still, i dont know to many 14 year olds who read as much as i do.

for my closing, this (along with the demon ororon) is the best manga i have ever read. the artwork is bliss, the story is (at 20 volumes) extremly well done. with tons of violence, exteremly good charactars, and a love story at the core, you cant get much better then angel sanctuary.

Good Informative Introduction.......2007-08-09

This is a really great and clever introduction on how to make a movie. The interviewer asks succinct questions that are informed and sincere and the directors do what they do so well: tell their gripping stories. This book is well worth your money, though the title did promise to me a slightly more focused book - one that is more about "Their First Movie". But allover: Great Read! As a film student and film buff, I'd say check out the book "The Director's Cut - Picturing Hollywood in the 21st Century" (by Littger) - a book I also reviewed and even favored over this one thanks to being more up-to-date and presenting the diversity of young Hollywood directors today.

My friend, Paul Kyriazi, is also a film director, having done OMEGA COP before he turned to writing books.
If you liked this book as much as I did, you may also enjoy a visit to Paul's website: bondlife.com because he tells the behind-the-scenes story of one of his early films. Verrrrrry interesting.
Any good directors out there, my new book would make a wonderful animated movie, or so they tell me. Check it out, too!
Truly, though, I really enjoyed hearing the stories of how these directors made their first films. They may not be STEVEN SPIELBERGs, but they could be HIM in the making! Who knows in this wonderful world of MOVIES.

Most of this book is wasted on pointless anecdotes with filmmakers who forgot the purpose of the interview: to describe how their first film got made.

The best interviews are the first and last: the Coen brothers and James Mangold. Allison Anders comes across as very sweet and smart. Steve Buscemi's story is interesting IF you've seen Trees Lounge.

The rest of the interviews fall flat. I had no idea what Bertrand Tavernier was talking about. Or Gary Oldman. Or Mike Figgis, Mike Leigh, Ken Loach...

Save your money and read those "FamousDirector on FamousDirector" books instead.

I'm only a hundred pages into 'My First Movie' (so my review is not exactly a complete one), but by what I've read so far, this is an educational and entertaining book of insights into the filmmaking world. I think that each separate interview had at least one pearl of wisdom that aspiring film-makers (both in the highest and lowest senses) can take from this book. And for those who aren't necessairily interested in a career in the movies, this book still has plenty of intrigue and gossip in it's pages to enjoy.
I got this as a Christmas present, and I hope that a sequel is in the works.

Very interesting.......2002-04-07

It is all too rare an occurrance to actually find out anything about the PERSON who makes a movie. Most "behind-the-scenes" documentaries and interviews end up being thinly-disguised promotional trailers for movies. Luckily, filmmaker Stephen Lowenstein interviewed 20 filmmakers of various origin, style, and age to bring us this collection of interviews about the experience of making a first film.

Each interview is different, just as each filmmaker's first moviemaking experience was different. Every interview is illuminating and serves to broaden the reader's view of filmmaking, as well as increase appreciation for the sheer hard work and endurance required to get a movie to the point of completion.

I found myself riveted by each director's account of their first movies, of the experience of getting the film to the point of being made, to the casting, to the pre-production, to the first day of filming, to editing and then trying to find a place to screen the darn thing. It was very interesting to get to know each filmmaker, the places they were in the beginning stages of their careers, and the places their films took them to.

I appreciated reading interviews with filmmakers I greatly admire (the Coen brothers), to those I am familiar with and jealous of (Kevin Smith), and especially the interviews with female filmmakers such as Allison Anders and Mira Nair (since I myself am female). Some other interviews I particularly enjoyed: P.J. Hogan ("Muriel's Wedding"), James Mangold ("Heavy"), and Ang Lee ("Pushing Hands").

If you like this book, I highly recommend "Rebel Without a Crew" by Robert Rodriguez, as it is a complete diary of the entire process of the making of his first feature film.

I totally needed this book in order to further progress in the game. This book was unavailble locally and it was reasonably priced plus it was wrapped and in mint condition.

A Perfect RE0 Companion.......2003-07-22

This guide is a concise and thorough guide. I have to give credit to the author because doing some of the feats in this game the way he did seemed nearly impossible at first but using Dan Birlew's strategies I managed to survive everything this game threw at me with no problems.

The walkthrough is much better written than their RE1 guide was. Not as many typos and they don't result to the Kill everything strategy that was previously used. Puzzles are easily described and while the guide has points where it is difficult to read...you have to remember that Dan Birlew is an RE veteran so you can trust what he's trying to tell you in this guide.

What I like about this guide is that it is simply that, a guide. No spoilers, but rather right to the point in helping you get the best from your gaming, in helping you get through an area in the best way possible. They recomend what items you should drop (like that Knife that is only there to taunt you), and what room to drop it in.

They also have a very nice way of helping you adapt to the game, something I don't usually get out of strategy guides anymore. Most guides wouldn't go into so much detail on the aspects of the game and helping you prepare to master it first. Most other guide would much rather jump into the walkthrough right away.

This guide is a companion when you go thorugh RE0, and not a guide that completely holds your hand. Helpful hints and easy puzzle solutions as well as easy to see boss call outs. In other words, a nice organized walkthrough. I couldn't ask for anything more. This is the best RE guide I've seen from BradyGAMES since their N64 RE2 guide. Great Guide, if you need help on RE0 you should definitely pick this up.

The Master of Horror game Strategy Guides Returns..........2003-07-11

Before he was Dan Birlew, writer for Brady Games, Dan Birlew was known on the web as President Evil. There is a reason for this. Birlew has been writing game walkthroughs, plot guides and more for horror games for years, and he knows his stuff. He is not a mere serial writer for a corporation, he is, was, and ever shall be a gamer. He knows his stuff, and he explains it well.

This game guide is well-written, concise, and mananges to navigate you through the trickier parts of the game with ease, without ruining any of the shocks and surprises. This is a difficult thing to do, but Birlew is a past master at it. He can not teach you how to be a skilled gamer, if you are not already. He tells you how enemies can be outmanuevered and defeated, how to get through the game in the shortest possible time, and how to survive the tricky bits. It is a Strategy Guide, not a cheat guide, and as a strategy guide it is the best you could ask for. Buy it.

They could of done better with this........2002-12-31

This is the first Resident Evil game that i've ever owned and so i needed help with the game. I've played all the games but never owned one till now. Anyway, i get the game and have to buy a guide. I buy one and i start playing. I find some of the stuff they asked me to do near impossible for a first time person. I found myself doing parts over again 3 or 4 times before even getting anywhere close to compleating them. In other words, the guide was almost no help at all with some parts. If u can find another guide, buy that one first.
