what a terrible book.......2004-11-23

Honestly, what are people thinking giving this book such good reviews. I used to do flyers for a living... if i had submitted half of these I would been laughed at. They are all bubble gum generic, half-a$$ed, and uninspirational. I should add not creative either. This book is just plain terrible. I bought it 3 years ago, and it was dated then... I think I am going to just throw my copy away. Don't buy this book!

sumptuous beats.......2004-09-21

a delightful visual feast that gives even more luminescent life to the spectacular scene. One realizes the depth of talent out there and the huge amount of energy devoted to the self-empowered/community conscious/psychedelic recreational realms.

Many of these flyers are true works of art into which one can happily immerse their mind and survey the flavors of forbidden fruits.

Quite a nice collection.......2003-12-11

I came across this at a used book store, and freaked out on the spot. Flipping through the pages, I saw dozens of familiar east coast flyers - including the flyer for my first rave, Ultraworld's Glow (eastern Maryland, 1994), flyers for other parties I'd been to, parties I wish I'd gone to, parties my brother went to, parties I'd forgotten about, and of course plenty that I had never seen (including a fair share of west coast flyers). The flyers are organized chronologically, which is a nice system; you can see a progression in style from the bubblegum-and-fractals aesthetic of the earlier years, to the slicker, more sophisticated look of more recent work. There's no commentary, aside from basic information (year, location, promoter) - just lots of eye candy.

The rave scene has always treated flyer design as an art form, and it's cool to see it collected like this. Someday I'll show this book to my grandkids and try to convince them that I used to be cool.

I just recieved this book today. I opened it and I was amazed by the beauty of the layout. This book is stunning. I could flip through the pages all day long. I was happy to see flyers in the book from Detroit. This book is an inspiration to me, considering I would like to start the design process of the rave flyer. I strongly recommend this book to anyone who appreciates the overall beauty of the rave party. This book truly captivates its visual delite! I wish I had another book so I could tear out the pages and hang them up all over my bedroom walls.

Surprising and Unusual.......2004-01-28

The coffee maker is not normally an item thought of as artwork, but the examples presented here should lead to reconsideration of that opinion. The machine is not merely a means to an end, but an integral part of the process and enjoyment therof. If anything, this book is a paean to human ingenuity in the improvement of the ordinary objects of daily life.

I so enjoy finding spiritual elements in films, and this book helps immensely in alerting one to points in many films that one might miss. I question the spiritual value in some of the films discussed, but that's all to the good. I use this guide weekly chaeck;ing out the movies on TV, as well as, like other reviewers, taking it with me to the video store or library where I often check out videos.

I believe that this book will do loads in enhancing your enjoyment of many films, and may change your mind about some which you consdidered valueless until spiritual elements are brought out.

What a great, great book! As soon as it arrived, I quickly glanced through it and knew I would want to savor it for later. It's really difficult to put down. It's *very* easy to use; extremely well organized. The movies are grouped into headings from "Angels (and Other Messengers) in Our Midst" to "Have Yourself a Supernatural Christmas." I especially liked reading the author's reviews of movies I'd seen such as Edward Scissorhands, Mulan, Powder and my favorite, Resurrection. This book takes the guesswork out of what movie to see tonight!

This book is not for newbies! Frank Scoblete teaches a new method for craps that I just could not understand. I was looking for something more basic.

In reading this book I found absolutely nothing that would be anything close to a winning system. The "Five Count" and all variations, when tested at length is merely a way of limiting your losses in hopes of staying at the table longer and hitting a hot roll before you run out of money. As with most craps books this one may teach you to manage your money and remind you about discipline.

If you want to win in Vegas don't buy this book.......2007-01-10

I started playing craps this past year and really enjoy playing the game. Naturally, I wanted to develop my skills and use my new fascination to make a little money, opposed to placing wild bets that seldomly paid out. I purchased this book to attempt to beat the system with mathematical odds. While this book does touch on the mathetical odds of the game the strategy recommended by the author appears to be based on superstition, rather than mathematics. As such, I believe the Supersystem to be inherently flawed. I would not recommend employing this system in the Casino if you want to make money. Good luck and happy gambling.

A lot of redundancy.......2006-08-08

The 5-count contents is less than 1/8 of the book. The rest are redundancy of author's other books. I do not see the logic in the 5-count except to prolong playing time for casino handout.

Just so much hype.......2006-07-15

Having had 20 years of casino work, most of it in the dice pits, the best I could say about this book is that it was "amusing."

I saw it in the book store, then looked for it in our local library, wasn't about to buy it.

Some one who would actually play the way the book calls for is called a "grinder". Don't let Scoblete fool you, the house knows who wins and who loses, and who is trying to make it appearto be giving the house good action - appear to- just to get their rating padded - and thus get more comps.

"Hedge bets" as described in the book - betting both Come Bets and Don't Come bets, is what is economic suicide.

As for the "Crazy Crapper" bets, while wise guys hang on the tables telling people not to bet them, the people betting them (if they're hitting) color out and go to the cage while the "wise guys" go to the ATM.

Setting the dice and throwing "rhytmically" are casino urban legend at best. It ust doesn't work. Well, it might work to get the person doing it noticed as a suspected dice slider.

A 202-page paperback ... welcome to a typical McFarland "book."No new information, as the author simply took several earlier books and 'digested' them into this TOTAL waste of money.Who would want to pay ...for a 'work' that consists, primarily, of an episode guide for the tv show?Only TWENTY pages (out of a slim 202) are devoted to Eliot Ness.Then, about 20 more to the "real Al Capone and Frank Nitti."Then, on page 49, this so-called author starts in on movies and tv.So, in sum, if you want information on Eliot Ness, go elsewhere.And, save your $ ...I wish I had.

The most comprehensive book ever written about the Untouchables! You can find everything you ever wanted to know about Eliot Ness and his arch enemies Al capone and Frank Nitti.
