Book Description
What doting owner wouldn't want to create a permanent record of their pet? Now a professional watercolor artist shows them how! Susie Wynne specializes in painting animals, and over the years she has perfected her drawing and watercolor techniques to demonstrate how anyone can capture the unique character and personality of their pet. She believes that you really have to get to know an animal well before you can portray its essential character, which is why pet owners often do the best portraits. In Draw & Paint Your Pet, she demonstrates, step by step, how every reader can paint just about any animal-including dogs, cats, horses, guinea pigs, even birds-in gorgeous color and detail. She begins by showing readers how to take photographs to use for making pencil sketches. Next, she shows ways to determine the right body proportions and capture the texture of fur and markings with watercolor and watercolor pencil. The 150 color photographs show these successful techniques in action, making it simple for all devoted animal lovers and artists to reproduce their beloved pets on paper and canvas. For any artist who loves animals, Draw & Paint Your Pet is an indispensable resource.
Customer Reviews:
Disapointed.......2007-07-26
The explanations are not that good, neither the drawings. Kind of blurry. I don't want to paint my pet like that, I want a book that be more precise and provide clears ideas of how to draw your pet.
Wind in the Willows.......2006-08-05
Susie Wynne has created a delightful and thought provoking work showing her great love and knowledge of her subjects as well as a fine ability to capture their real spirit and character. Her drawings bring to mind Kenneth Graeme's The Wind in the Willows. I gained so much from this book. It should be a standard work in every school art department.
I was very sorry to hear of her passing away. I would have loved to have seen what she was planning to do next. I understand she produced two videos to accompany this title. I am not sure if they have become available on DVD.
The most amazing learing experience - ever!.......2003-02-09
Being of little painting talent I was looking for a book that would show me confidently how I could learn! I love my pets and thought that they would be an easy subject. Susie's book showed me how to look at my pets with a different perspective and I could actually replicate what she showed! This book is a must for all aspiring artists! A truly excellent book and well worth the money!
An excellent book..........2003-02-06
This is an excellent book on not only gaining the ability and skill to draw and paint animals, but also on basic techniques for increasing one's ability to create art. The book is laid out in a logical and easy to understand manner and guides the aspiring artist to create what they bought the book for in the first place (drawings and paintings of their pets or other animanls).
The author, Susie Wynne, really seems to love what she does and that shows through in the book. There's no doubt that she, also, loves animals and that the book came about from that love. As such, it makes the book that much more enjoyable as she is in it for the same reasons as someone who is interested in buying her book.
Highly recommended and sure to increase one's skill level and an even greater love for one's pet/s and animals in general.

SCAM.......2007-09-25
This book offers no real information or practical steps to actually start your business. It mentions all items in passing (usually no more than a paragraph on any subject, some of whihc ar eimportant). Definetly not going to get you get started. And there is absolutely ZERO useful information on finding models.
Interesting and informative.......2007-03-24
It reads like a very practical guide for would-be pornographers. That is both a plus and a minus, because it doesn't take much to see that it is probably an uphill climb to make any sort of decent income this way. Lots of work, lots of challenges, and you are not at all likely to do this secretly or on the side.
Save your money.......2006-07-06
This book appears promising yet falls woefully short on delivery. Most of the info in the book you already know or can learn from a myriad of other books or sources. It promises to show you how to become an internet pornographer yet tells you little or nothing about how to set up a website, find hosting, payment options or any of the other nuts and bolts needed to be succesful. The info on where to find models is no mystery, just common sense. What to pay models was a bit interesting but the advice to pay by check is accounting 101. All in all I give it 2 stars which is a shame, a colaberation with someone wed-savvy may have made this a winner.
Most of this you know already.......2006-06-28
This book is a very thin description of how to get into the Internet content provider world. The problem is that as far as the real useful information, it could have been done with even fewer pages. Maybe 10 would have been good. The content is meant for a photographer not a videographer. The most useful information is in the smaller print sidebars liberally placed in each chapter. A page on how much to pay models is probably the most useful and that information can be gotten from the World Modeling website or Luke Ford. Not much on how to sell your work, all very general information. Too little information for the price.
Extremely well written.......2006-02-19
Very well written guide on starting such a business. She is a seasoned pro and you can save a lot of headcahes and grief by reading this book before you start. Highly recommended.

Book Description
The most entertaining take yet on America's #1 obsession.
An outrageous graphic autobiography with illustrations by Mary Wilshire-a top Marvel Comics artist-Fat Free is the story of the (formerly) supersized Jude Milner's harrowing and hilarious adventures: freaking out in candy stores, following quack cures and diets, becoming a "Fat Is Beautiful" activist, working as a phone-sex fantasy girl with multiple personas, and finally undergoing gastric bypass surgery. Milner's true story of struggle and triumph is nuanced rather than pat. She never becomes waif-slender, but does become thinner and happier- a physically strong, self-confident, and healthy woman who has replaced self-loathing with self-confidence. She takes the grit, the grime, the taunts-"I don't want her/You can have her/She's too fat for me"-and transforms herself into a crusader: Milner creates a unique program in which women struggling with their weight can come for psychological counseling and personal fitness training. Never predictable, never self-pitying, Fat Free is sustained by a sense of humor and stunning visuals throughout.

Don't Agree Entirely With Message.......2007-01-22
For some reason people seem to think that fatness always equals unfitness. This has never been proven one way or the other; only opinions on both sides have been propped up with arguments and manipulated data. And once again, a book like Fat Free comes along with a one-sided message to give: fatness is ultimately "bad".
This book contains much that is demeaning towards the entire size acceptance community. Somehow it assumes that everyone in it is pro-fat to the extent of trying to keep others from losing weight. Not true again. The SA movement is all about acceptance of people at ANY size, and that includes the formerly-fat who decide to lose weight.
As I type this, there are pending lawsuits against the authors. Most notably, the heroine on the cover bears more than a little resemblance to Ned Sonntag's character "Etta Quantum", and Ned is thinly caricatured within.
In any case, the book is a pleasant read for anyone wishing further motivation to lose weight, or for those who are surprised that there even is an SA movement at all. Even I was surprised that size acceptance was even mentioned, as the fatphobic media (under the pay of the diet-exercise complex) has kept silent about it.
However, there are many and better ways of obtaining a positive outlook than paying money to read a book that once again espouses trying to be something one is not. Although I might add that the lead character has every right to her opinions and choice, and I even wish her well (maybe not regarding the lawsuits). I just wish the cookie-cutter syndrome would stop descending upon the masses, lumping people into categories and saying "what you people are doing is wrong".
Emotional Aha Moments.......2006-11-17
Jude Milner was a guest on our Let's Talk Coaching radio show today (11/16/06). When I first looked at the book, I thought it was a comic book. After a few pages I found it to be compassionate and inspirational story. On the show, Ms. Milner explained the book falls into the genre of "graphic memoir." This is an up and coming genre. If you are thinking of producing a book in this genre, this is a must have book.
Ms. Miler shares her emotions/feelings from many angles. Being overweight myself, I thoroughly connected with her stories. Her story is everyone's story who has been battling weight loss.
She even discuss gastrobypass surgery, the mental challenges, and is open about the triggers that caused the weight gain.
This is a must have book. It is also a great gift book.
Fat Free:Amazing All-True Adventures of Supersize Woman!.......2006-11-01
I loved it! The author has a lot of heart and humor in telling her sometimes dark and sad story of being super fat and how she grew up. The artwork is spectacular. I really think every person who has dealt with or knows someone who deals with overweight would relate and enjoy this easy read.
A Life Summed Up.......2006-10-25
The authors experience seems to be the norm of any overweight girl. With a few personal exceptions, I could relate to the story very well. The book reads like a graphic novel, or a comic. All in black and white, it's easy to follow. I read cover to cover in 30 minutes.

Book Description
Writers have to understand and develop the elements that make a great script before writing the script itself. Halperin demonstrates how treatments can be effective, taking writers through the entire process in a variety of genres including originals, adaptations, movies-of-the-week, miniseries, sitcoms and soap operas.
Customer Reviews:
Let its title not fool you!.......2006-11-27
When I am writing a script, I use about 80% of the time making a good treatment, since it is what will allow you to have everything well-tied when the proper screenwriting comes at the final stage. This book will not teach you to write a good treatment. In 90 pages, it deals about general issues of screenwriting, such as adaptations, story development and structure, but never in a deep way. It just generalises in its treatment recommendations, never giving clear rules, goals or advice. Furthermore, half of it talks about TV issues, which are far from filmmaking ones. The remaining 80 pages are just a filler: interviews, a sample treatment and references on movies cited. There is still not a good book about treatments out there.
How to Sell Your Script -- Then Write It!.......2006-05-26
Writing a solid treatment is something rarely -- if ever -- taught in writing courses. This is a great disadvantage for screenwriters, because having the ability to write a compelling treatment could make the difference between getting your foot in the door -- or getting the door closed in your face.
At the very least, mastering this writing form can help writers flesh out their material and pitch it to prospective buyers BEFORE they write the script, allowing them to get feedback and make changes to a 10-15 page document versus a 100-120 page one.
There are few books on this very important topic, and Michael Halperin has written one that belongs in every writers library. If you don't understand what a treatment is for, how it is used, or how to create one, you will after reading this book.
And if you plan on writing for TV, this book is a must. With it's many examples of how to write treatments for TV -- episodic and long-form, it will cut your learning curve in half!
Very, very thin.......2003-09-16
Not much here to help novices and certainly not for anyone with the vaguest idea of how scripts "work." Very skimpy with examples. There's so much "nuts-and-bolts" knowledge that's necessary to create a good script or treatment, and this book provides little of it.
Short on Substance.......2002-08-11
This one suffers the flaw common to how-to books on writing: it's short on models. Plenty of TALK about how to write a treatment, but most writers know that the best instruction comes from an assortment of professionally polished examples. If you want to be a journalist, read the NY Times. If you want to write killer treatments, read some killer treatments.

Book Description
Early one morning in August 1995, Bob Weir called his sister and asked her to check in on Jerry Garcia, who had died only hours before. At first she could not talk to Jerry's spirit because it was too happy to be free. Only with the telepathic help of her brother was she able to break through Jerry's barriers and remind him that he couldn't leave -- he still needed to fulfill his mission on Earth. Thus began an illuminating and introspective three-year journey with the spirit of Jerry Garcia.
In the Spirit captures not only the wisdom of Jerry Garcia, but also the playful, irreverent, conversational tone that his fans will immediately recognize, whether in his personal message to the band or in his communications to those who read his words and listened to his music.
In the Spirit sustains the bond between Jerry and those he loved and those who loved him.
Customer Reviews:
A wonderful book on channeling.......2007-09-26
This aesthetical - Wendy is a fine drawing artist - and well-written book is a joy from start to finish. And the communications with Jerry's Oversoul convincing and profound. This is clearly the part of him that was entrapped in a body/mind given in to heavy addictions finally liberated and able to speak for itself. The part that shine through in the moments where his Ego stepped aside, and made his guitarplaying come from Consciousness itself. The moments when he was 'in the zone' and each note he played shone with the Light of spirit.
I admire Wendy's courage in publishing this book. And I feel the book contains much wisdom coming from the plane of disincarnated souls and their insights. But as Wendy also hints at, this is not the final liberation, which only comes when also the oversoul dissolves into the Eternal from which it came.
A spiritually deep and beautiful book. And a must for everyone interested in the spiritual side of Grateful Dead. Interestingly enough, although Phil Lesh doesn't mention this book in his "Searching For The Sound", he quotes her communication with Brent Mydland after his dead with what seems to be unquestioned acceptance of the statement coming through.
The book is also enlightened by the beautiful lyrics of Robert Hunter, very relevant to the information from the oversoul.
A little carried away.......2004-02-24
I agree none of the (JO) words sound like Jerry to me. I think here conversations are all a product of her imagination and a genuine desire to find herself as some who matters in the dead scene.
The least believe part to me whas when she hallucinated the Spirit wolf guardians of Otis and then indicted Bob into the matter by attributing that he said "Oh you saw them?(too)"...
It is hard to dispute the cosmic messages we all know so well, but she really has to struggle to create some relevence for herself after a longtime stiff corporate life. Believe me - I lived in Santa Fe this stuff is a dime a dozen sideshow for rich guilty people to try to find some connection with "real" people.
The part where she is convinced that someone had the "intent" to molest her as a baby (never went through with it, it you) made some deeply traumatic effect on her life and sexuality - I suspect to be concocted. Ms. Perfect has to find some way to be a sufferer to "be real" like the rugged rough "real" people that are her gurus.
Her "past lives" stuff - please... do we have to even go there?
No wonder there was a battle over Jerrys ashes - I heard the band stole half of them from Debbie Zoontz to take to India and float down the Ganges.
Look - Jerry was a no BS guy and that's why he stareted Jerry Band - to get away from all that heebee jeebee cosmic psycho babble of the dead scene and be a respectable performer like BB King. No jinglebell rainbow walkers in the JGB.
ok.......2003-07-25
This book was very interesting and I could apply the lessons to my own life. However, it takes a tremendous amount of faith on several ideals to make it believable. Are you ready to trust in things you cannot see? It is upsetting to read reviews suggesting Weir wrote this merely to profit. I do not believe that at all.
Give this book a try, with an open mind.
Inspiring and From the Heart.......2001-04-05
I found this book to be not only inspiring, but also a true lesson from writer to reader. Even if the reader didn't know of Jerry Garcia, you will go away with important life lessons. This book has not only helped myself, but many friends too. If you have ever lost a loved one to spirit, this book not only comforts, but gives hope in life beyond this worldly plane. It took Miss Weir alot of courage to put this book in the hands of the public, and for that I applaud her. She has helped a countless number of people, and has inspired me to further my knowledge about spirit. Thank you Wendy!
Jerry's Spirit Is Still Singing.......2000-10-18
I am not a Deadhead, and the closest I've come to a Grateful Dead concert is a video of their 1987 New Year's Eve concert at the Oakland Coliseum. Even so, through Wendy Weir's book I have come to know Jerry quite well. And I like him a lot.
In the Spirit is a remarkable example of a loving, insightful conversation between someone on the Earth plane and the spirit of another who has recently left it. This volume is full of provocative yet affirming messages about our many levels of existence. Clearly Jerry's intention is to offer the reader his perspectives from above on the lives that the rest of us are still leading below.
In the chapter on Inner Knowing, for instance, Jerry says, "Music is an incredible key to accessing this inner space [our higher consciousness]. So are the sounds of nature. At first you may think them discordant, but that is because you are only able, with your Earthly ears, to listen to the more obvious sounds; the song of birds, the chirp of crickets, the wind whistling through the trees. But what beautiful sounds do the trees themselves make? What note does each blade of grass sing? What harmonies do the bushes add to the symphony that is Nature?"
Could there be a more exquisite reminder that our lives consist of what we hear and don't hear, see and don't seen, know and don't know? And who better to give us that message than Jerry Garcia, the man who expanded the consciousness of a whole generation?
In the Spirit is full of eloquent, discerning observations such as this. I found Jerry's insights subtle yet penetrating. His relationship with Wendy is rooted in a deeply shared love and respect, tempered with a hefty dose of irreverence. Wendy has done a superb job of tapping into Jerry's essence and documenting her conversations with him. It took a great deal of courage for her to go public with these messages. And in doing so, she has given voice to Jerry's spirit. It sings throughout the pages.

It takes briliance to know brilliance.......2003-07-10
In this quirky archive author David Jay Brown again dives in head first to the uncharted ocean of some of the strangest and most extraordinary minds on our planet. When David says "Edge" he means it. Thank goodness he's memorialized the visions and complexities of these creative, unfettered and completely unique souls. This is one of Garcia's last interviews. Enjoy and keep this book. Someday show your great-grandkids that at least a few of us had the courage to think and live big.
A great tour through a variety of ideas and viewpoints........2000-04-05
The interviews in this book cover topics from myth and religion to cyberspace. Well covered are sexuality, psychedelics, creativity and peaceful approaches to solving problems.I thoroughly enjoyed this book and getting exposed to the people and ideas in it.

Spycraft 2.0 - The most comprehensive RPG ever produced.......2006-01-07
Spycraft 2.0 is the one and only modern era RPG book that anyone would ever need. Contained in its 400+ pages is basically every rule and situation that could ever arise in a modern day game. Though this game works exceptionally well for an espionage style campaign, there is absolutely no reason why you need play a spy.
The system for designing NPCs is perfect. With one easy set of rules you can make hordes of the lowest level scrubs who will be blown away en masse by your players or the most tricky and long lived villain who will become memorable to your players...all by adding qualities. Very cool! Plus, its a snap to figure out how much experience each NPC or challenge yields.
There are a few drawbacks to this book. First off, the gear section is poorly organized. The mere fact that the caliber charts for the gear is on a different page than the stats for the gear is incredibly aggrivating.
There are a huge amount of feats in this book...that allow for incredible character customization. My only problem is that like gear, they are hard to sort through.
Dramatic Conflicts might be my favorite part of Spycraft 2.0. With one system that emulates interactions between a predator and a prey, the system models car chases, brainwashing, interrogation, infiltration, manhunts, and even seduction. Basically, each round of interaction, the predator and prey pick opposing strategies and reveal them using appropriate skill roles. They're like little many games that spice the game up with variety.
I'm not sold of the art in the book. I preferred the gritty black and white sketches in the original to the more cartoony, anime-esque illustrations in this one...but they do work.
In conclusion, the game system is incredibly well designed...and that makes up for any shortcomings in the books overall presentation.
Detailed.......2005-11-29
One thing I was able to pull from this game is an amazing amount of detail. For someone used to the D&D system of skills this was a major change. I find myself rolling fistfulls of dice any time my agents wish to preform the simplest of tasks. Rolling fistfulls of dice that is after I look up what they have to roll in the first place.
The skill system got a major overhaul and I am not sure it was for the best. The skill list itself was condensed however the skills now are simply catagories for which the old (and some new) skills reside. For example: Acrobatics has taken the place of the old skills: Balance, Jump, and Tumble and put them all into one category. They also add Falling and Skydiving checks to the mix. Each of these subskills has their own rules and require different checks and synergy bonuses. This seems like a lot to keep track of.
The other major change from the first game is the expansion of the chase system. One of the best things about version 1.0 was that the chase system was the best in any game bar-none. In the new system they have not changed the system they have expanded it. The chase system (manuvers for predator and prey) have been expanded to use the same system for Hacking, Infiltration, Interogation, and Seduction.
Overall the premice of the game is good, however I think that the experience is being brought down by the weight of the system.
Awesome RPG.......2005-11-01
Having just recently having had a chance to pick up this book I was very pleasently surprised. It was amazingly put together. The art was very likeable and fitting with the concepts being brought forth. This is THE d20 book for rules on anything modern or future, bar none.
Loved the green and gray color scheme too but I'm a sucker for green.
The content was polished and easy to read and quite fun.
If there can be a complaint it's that the gear section has a steep learning curve but other than that I loved the book. Very well done.
Amazing.......2005-08-29
This is the update to the familiar D20 Spycraft. The game is now OGL and has everything needed for the game. It is no longer tied to D&D and is a self contained RPG. This is the Modern RPG to contend with. The game system comes with built in flexible options and allows for customization of your campaign based on the needs of the GM and the player.
WOTC would do well to learn from AEG on how to do a Modern RPG.
