This book is a perfect choice for people working on creative self-expression.
Linda Coons has written this book as a daily inspiration guide for artists, writers and anyone bent on a creative path in life. This book is meant as a tool for developing ways to better cope with blocks and obstacles when doing artistic projects. Each day has a short idea and then either a meditation or prayer along with an exercise that relates to the day's idea. It will take you easily through a year of inspiration without requiring too much time. The problem is that you will want to rush through the year in order to find out what you are capable of....but take your time and enjoy.

A good reference book for photographers breaking in the field of interior photography,with digital and/or film equipment.
Not the right book for you.......2005-01-06
This book is not good at anything in particular especially if you are doing or planning to do any kind of digital photography. It seems to me that the author is not a very good architectural photographer himself because most of the pictures you see in the book are terrible, even when used to ilustrate different points. When it comes to digital photography he speaks like he knows very little about what is possible to do today with a digital camera.
Not a source of inspiration or good complete information for anybody seriously getting into architectural photography.
First time I return a book to Amazon.
It's Just What the Title Says!.......2004-06-09
This book is a very useful and informative. It does a very good job of covering what makes professional interior photography work. Definitely a book for advanced amateurs or professionals. Would be great for a professional who is expanding their scope of work to include interior photography or who is looking for techniques or useful ideas. Harris does a very good job of describing appropriate camera and lighting equipment, lighting techniques, color correction processes, etc. The book is pretty much up-to-date and covers digital photography reasonably well. It is a very "hands-on" book from someone who obviously knows what they are doing. I probably would not recommend this to "snapshot" photographers, you might not get too much out of it.
A great book!.......2000-08-16
Michael Harries does a great job on this book. In this book he recommends the view camera (instead of the typical 35mm). This book isn't really going to teach all aspects of how to use this camera or the equipment. However, there is pretty good coverage concerning lights and how to correct color with filters. He also gives a really good run down on what equipment to buy, composition, and different types of film.
If you want to learn a lot about architectural photography and its equipment, this is a really good book. If you want lots of specifics on view cameras, you'll need a different book.

this book wasnt bad, because its one of the only books on the OC and so a lot of oc fans like me get it. its a fun read, especially if you're as obsessed with the show as i am. (however, summer is so not 5'4" like the book says!)

This book is SUPER funny! I love Adam Brody and was happy to find lots of great information on him in OC Undercover. Plus, this is cool because it is the only book on The O.C.

This book has tons of info on the show and the actors. I couldn't put it down! It's full of fun quotes and factoids. The quiz was fun, too. I think that all O.C. fans should pick up this book.
Fun and Straight to the point.......2004-04-18
I loved this book. Ms. Kent is hilarious in many of her comments and observations. I, unlike some other people, didn't buy this book with hopes of getting a "travel guide" of Orange County. That's not the point of this book. It is a funny and witty account of the fabulous TV show that I love so much. I love the sections on the stars (Adam BRody is my fave!)and the pics! Great summer read!

This sure does bring back the memories!.......2005-06-04
This review may be a little biased! You see, I have been a huge fan of Hawkwind since I first heard the strident notes of the album In Search of Space in 1971. Now, after having released some 40 "official" albums and numerous compilations, you would think these Elder Statesmen of Rock would be accorded the fame and fortune befitting their role as innovators and creators of some of the most eclectic electronic music ever to come from Britain. Not so! Their fate appeared to be to appear as a footnote in musical history until recently.
With the appearance of the live Out of the Shadows DVD and this entertaining book from Ian Abrahams, they are starting to get the recognition they so thoroughly deserve.
The book centres on Dave Brock. Hawkwind is, has been, and always will be, his band. It starts off with some background on Dave and the other early members of the band. The text really starts getting detailed when you get to the late 1960's when everything was gelling for the formation of Hawkwind (or Group X as they were called for a handful of gigs). The book proceeds along in good depth all the way to this millenium and is well illustrated with a lot of captioned photographs (black and white unfortunately - to keep costs down I think).
Ian Abrahams interviewed every member and ex-member he could contact and faithfully reproduces their recollections and reminiscences, ensuring every side of any tumultuous happenings in the band's 30 year history is reported in full. He also interviewed fans, management, record executives, in fact, anyone who ever had contact with the band in any context. Some of the more notable luminaries include (famed fantasy author) Michael Moorcock who did a lot of work with the band in their early days.
This book is also fully-indexed, something a lot of books on rock music or bands seldom are. This makes looking up any particular member of the band or album very easy. There is also a complete album listing with notations on the major songs on each. Also present is a listing of websites that you can go to for more information.
All in all, this 288 page hardcover book is well worth the published price of under $50. I would recommend it to everyone, not necessarily just to Hawkwind fans.

Beware!.......2007-04-30
This book was great. I ordered it and several of it's kind before going on a camping trip. Kokology 2 came before 1 arrived and it was the only one that made it on the trip. I hear 1 is good as well so we look forward to it's arrival. I made the time around the campfire so profound that we were all amazed. There are a few questions that might not hit home and if you don't live by the ocean or you don't live in a city so they are hard to imagine, but all in all we had a great time and all eagerly awaited hearing my cousin read the next question. Worth the money 10 fold.
Just as funny, but not as insightful as Kokology 1..........2005-10-17
I picked up Kokology 1 in a funky bookstore on State St. in Santa Barbara, several years ago. I've used it often with friends and family. The questions are intriguing, hard to cheat (you think you have them figured out, but you never do) and, because they are short, are very easy to play rapidly. For some reason, this book always seems to go over better than The Book of Questions (though I like that one as well).
I was very excited to get Kokology 2, as I have played the first enough times to start remembering my answers when I play it with new groups of people.
Unfortunately, though these questions are also hard to cheat and riotously funny (like the first book), they are not as insightful. I don't finish the questions thinking, "Wow! I didn't realize that about myself!" Two of the questions my husband and I played were very confusing. We both tried to answer one of them in different ways and it turned out that they were looking for something totally different than either of our methods. Another question asked us to come up with the emotions of all seven dwarfs (from Snow White), which was tedious and hard to remember (though I do think it was more insightful than some of the other questions).
Overall, I think the first book was better. Still, this is worth purchasing and playing with friends. After all, the best part of either of these books is the chance to get to know others better and become closer as a result.

This is part two of the Kokology series and remains much along the same lines as the first. Here you have 53 different situations to contemplate and choose a response for. Many hours of fun ensue and possibly a few surprises could crop up!
Wonderful conversation starter.......2001-12-26
A friend told me about this little book that had surprising insights. I was curious and just had to check it out. Everyone that I have shared it with has absolutely loved it. Each exercise is just a paragraph or a few sentences. It describes a scenario and asks you to choose an option or visualize a scene. Your responses are the key to your personality traits. I have even used this book with a group of very bored teenagers in a classroom setting, and they loved it! The discussions were insightful and often hilarious. Some of the scenarios deal with adult topics, so I would advise one to edit it according to the audience. Enjoy!
