Book Description
This action-packed compendium offers parents, teachers, and anyone else who works with kids a wide array of ingenious sound and dance activities from a variety of cultures to get kids singing, dancing, listening, interacting, and involved. 101 More Music Games for Children includes games that facilitate musical development, such as sound games, rhythm games, game projects, and card and board games. All of them have simple, clear rules, and they stress excitement, humor, challenge, surprise, and cooperation rather than competition. Whether or not kids are "musical" or play an instrument, these activities can help them: develop musical skills such as spontaneous singing; create, play, and recognize various rhythms; appreciate the structure of sounds; and learn how to play with all kinds of instruments. Like its best-selling predecessor, this book encourages and enhances creative expression, social interaction, family relationships, and kids' budding powers of listening, concentration, and discrimination.

Book Description
A visual feast of fifty of the most craptastic cars ever to hit the American highway.
Crap Cars is a window into the vanity and silliness of almost any decade as expressed through that ultimate of status symbols: your car. Traveling from the ’60s to the ’90s, it showcases the cheapest, the tackiest, and the mechanically inept, including cars made by companies like Porsche and BMW that put them to shame. There’s also the blobby Merkur Scorpio, the ungainly Rolls-Royce Camargue, the squarish Maserati Biturbo, and the (ironically) flammable Renault Fuego. Each photo spread is accompanied by a short, hilarious critique by Richard Porter, a crap car expert, who sees straight through all the pimped-out bodywork to the true lemon that lies underneath.
Crap Cars is the perfect gift for anyone who loves cars or the casualties of bad taste, or for that special someone who misses their own beloved, long-gone piece of crap.
Customer Reviews:
a fun little gift for the car enthusiast! .......2007-09-12
This book is hilarious-- very entertaining and brings back so many memories of the cars we had growing up! Makes a great gag gift or stocking stuffer for the automotive enthusiast in your life!
Entertaining coffee table book.......2007-05-14
I bought this book after reading it. It was entertaining, accurate, and talked about many of the cars I well remember and loathe. This was a time period after the 60's, the best decade in automotive history. I am 56 and was in high school during the 60s. Cars were fun, exciting, and that decade produced many classics. Than the government, in its infinite wisdom decided it was time reign in the fun. I think automotive companies spent the next several years trying to find themselves and a new direction, which really has not yet been accomplished. This book deals with that period. Also it put the VW beetle in its place, a truely dangerous crap car that was killed by those new government laws after it killed many people.
I docked the rating a star for two reasons;
1. The Mustang II is better than at least 15 of the other cars in the book. Granted it was horrible assault on the good "Mustang" name, but it was far better than the VW beetle, vega, pinto, gremlin, pacer, yugo, and geo metro to name a few. It was a cute little car, usually with a cute little driver. If you could find one of these on the road you might find someone worth dating (and marrying).
2. No book of this nature can be complete without mentioning the 1982 Pontiac Bonneville. This car, if mentioned, would have been well into the bottom half of these 50 cars. This car was so ugly and such an insult to the Bonneville name I believe it was one of the cars that contributed to the GM decline. Oh yes, I was available with a diesel engine.
This is a funny, light hearted, coffee table book that is well worth the money and will lead to hours of nostelgic conversation with your guests.
Keep it in the crapper!.......2006-12-28
What a funny book. I kept my copy next to the toilet and read the book over a period of visitations, which took maybe three days. I loved the book so much, I gave it to a friend, who put it near his toilet for light reading.
A tradition is born.
There are some people who did not like this book. They are not fun people. They are sad people. Ignore their bleatings and moanings.
Get the book. Give the book
Funny, Although I've Never Even Heard of Most of These Cars.......2006-11-22
This book does have its funny moments and if you can actually relate to the cars, ie you have or know someone who has owned them then I have no doubt you would be rating this book five stars. The problem though that Porter has created is that unless you live in North America, are wealthy enough to afford BMWs, Jags, Ferraris, Rolls Royces and the like and have also been of driving age since the 70's or 80's then most of these cars, as a reader you really can't relate to at all. Being able to relate to driving the cars is where the satisfaction and majority of humour of this book is.
Even though I'm not old enough or rich enough to know of most of these cars, never having heard of them does not mean I did not enjoy the comments. For example the story accompanying the AMC Gremlin I thought was hilarious.
The only cars I'd actually heard of are VW beetle and Suzuki 4WD and they're still around and quite popular so even though I've never driven one of these their worthiness of crap status would be somewhat questionable in my opinion. I still did enjoy the accompanying storylines on them though. A few others I've also only seen in the movies such as Back to the Future and Wayne's World so although I know what these cars look like I have never seen them being driven on the actual roads. I say these things just to emphasise that I have no idea how accurate the comments on the cars in here actually are, but I will emphasise again that these comments are funny.
Regardless of if you've heard of these cars or not you'll enjoy this book but if you are rich, live in North American and have been driving since the 70's then I think you'll get even a lot more out of Crap Cars than just the laughs that I did.
Quick read that is mildly entertaining.......2006-08-24
A quick read (less than one hour) that put a smile on my face. Author determined which cars to include based on his styling tastes, lack of performance on the part of the vehicle or size. I passed the book on to my brother; not really necessary to keep it in the library.

Book Description
The Art of the Storyboard shows beginners how to conceptualize and render the drawings that will communicate continuity to the cinematographer, set designer, and special effects supervisor, or to create the skeletal outline around which an animated program is developed.
Using sketches of shots from classic films, from silents to the present, The Art of the Storyboard covers the history and evolution of this craft and discusses the essentials of translating one's vision onto paper, from the rough sketch to the finished storyboard. Over 100 illustrations from the author's and other storyboard artists' work illuminate the text throughout. Exercises at the end of each chapter help students to develop essential drawing and visualizing skills.
The Art of the Storyboard teaches basic drawing techniques and illustrates the use of perspective, light and shade, and depth of field needed in order to render the human figure in motion. In this book students are introduced to essential components of storyboarding, such as framing, placement of figures, and use of camera angles
-the only book on storyboarding for media
Customer Reviews:
Pretty good book.......2006-07-02
This book was very helpful to me. I am a professional animator and storyboard/layout artist, even though I have a very good grasp of drawing, this book helped me improve my composition(balance, contrast, flow, etc) and cinematography skills. The illustrations are from great old time classics like Battleship Potemkin (which is frequently used as examples in top film schools across the world) and an numerous other examples. The simplicity of some of the drawings illustrates how you don't have to be the best artist to draw a good storyboard, other drawings show how you can do pretty psimple but photorealistic renderings in a few minutes. Although this is not the all in one stop for storyboarding, it is a must have for aspiring storyboard artists. The one thing that could use improvement is the discussion on perspective drawing, but this book helped me improve so much that I still give it 5 stars. Note: This is not a how to draw book, If you have a solid foundation in drawing, you will benefit more from this and similar books.
Profoundly dissapointing.......2002-11-28
Siggraph San Antonio was about to close up shop on its last day and I finally made my way to the bookstore. I had about 7 minutes to make my choices. One choice was a nicely done book on character animation in Flash, and the other was "The Art of the Storyboard" by John Hart Hart's book is one that I can truly say I regret buying. There is little of use inside, and some severely misleading bits as well. (For instance Hart tells us that it's the storyboard artist who determines light placement.) I was hoping for a book that would give me some information on generally used techniques for depicting camera moves, fades and other conventions. Instead we get pencil drawings cribbed from films that look more like fan-art than any storyboards I've ever seen or worked with.
Anyone wanting insights into how tho convey their cinematic vision to others would do well to steer clear of this volume.
Amateurish and unfocused.......2002-01-18
After searching for books on storyboarding for a class, I found and read a handful of them. This book was a big disappointment. For readers looking to learn about the CRAFT of storyboarding, I strongly recommend "From Word to Image" by Begleiter. However, if you like personal anecdotes, personal preferences, Hollywood history trivia, uninspiring graphics, and little teaching content, then Mr. Hart's "Art of Storyboard" will give you much of that. I am giving it two stars instead of one, because there are few books on storyboarding and because there is nonetheless some useful content (but it could have been put in 10 pages).
Storyboarding from the simple to the complex.......2001-09-24
This book covers storyboards ranging from the most basic to the most detailed. The author recreates frames from classic films--old and new--to illustrate how a storyboard can include light, movement, perspective, and shadow to offer a more complete view of the scene. I found this book to be as much about the art of observing, which is essential to anyone involved in the filmmaking process.
This is a book about storyboarding?.......2001-04-18
One of the main problems with books about storyboarding is that very few actually outline and explain how to execute it without going into too much theoretics. Like a cookbook, I would like to be instructed step-by-step on how to create storyboards: how to decide which angles best suit a written outline; differences in storytelling metric scenarios (quiet scenes, action scenes, etc.); and what would lead me to decide on how to visually set up a scene properly. All this book does is delve into the loooong history of different films, rambling on and on about significant key storyboard shots in the movie. Unfortunately, none of it is instructional. Worse yet, the examples the author uses are his own pencil sketches, which are lifted from actual scenes from an established movie. This does nothing for his credibility as a storyboard artist, especially if he didn't board the sequences himself. While it is important to explain specific key shots in a film to aspiring artists, using re-drawn sequences to fill an entire book is almost insulting to the very subject one is trying to learn from.

Solos for Marimba, Xylo, and Vibes by Art Joliff.......2000-10-02
This is a wonderful book, my favorite of all, easy to read for 2, 3, 4 mallets. Art Joliff's arrangements are very beautiful. His music selection is also wonderful. Looking forward to more of his work.

Customer Reviews:
Perfect for Adult Game Lovers.......2002-04-12
I absolutely loved this book! It has fun and challenging games for all types of people. Some of the games are classics, others are twists on classic games (such as a maze in the shape of a fingerprint, or oddly shaped crosswords with modified rules),and still others are completely original. The original games are brilliant, and so are the modifications they've made on some of the old favorites. Every kind of puzzle is in this book: observation puzzles, math puzzles, riddles, word games, mazes, logic problems, crosswords, trivia, and more. They range from quite easy to nearly impossible, but they are all on an adult level. Make sure you read the instructions to each game carefully, or you'll end up pretty confused. I would definitely recommend this book to anybody who loves games, no matter what type of games they love.

Book Description
This definitive collection of Graham Holderness's writings on Shakespeare in film and television is a unique resource for the study of Shakespeare in the media. The fact that film and television versions of Shakespeare are now accepted as a standard element of Shakespeare studies is due in no small part to the work collected in this volume. It covers Shakespeare in television and film through case studies of Henry V, Taming of the Shrew, and Romeo and Juliet.
