This is such a whimsically Faery work of art! Ellwand has fashioned the most petite, realilistic, fantasyful clothes out of the prettiest petals and leaves (perfectly designed for the wee folk). I just love adoring each enchanting Faery outfit. Makes me wish I was tiny enough to wear each piece or even host a Faery fashion show and make the clothes for real! This is a truly amazing book. The artwork is superb and the text is excellent. It combines legends from Babylon, Greece, Phoneican, Egyptian, Welsh, Scottish and English legends all crammed into one excellent and comprehensive guide. I can't say how great this book is. Just buy it and you will see

This is an excellent book for all ages. It is highly illustrated with many different types of mythilogical creatures. These categories include: mythical birds, dragons and serpents, half-human creatures and mythilogical animals. The only problem is that it is fairly expensive for it's size but it's worth it. I paid $25 for it, well I should say my dad did but anyway it is an excellent book.

This book made everyone in my family laugh which is quite the task...that is until the last few pages. A little past halfway through, the humor hits a dead point and the book is no longer funny, but I would definently buy it again for the first half.

THIS BOOK IS THE PERFECT GIFT FOR ANYONE! It's full of beautiful drawings & gut busting, funny quips. I received it as a party gift the year it was first released. We passed it around the party of 12 ladies..most of whom ended up in tears from laughter. Since that time, I have purchased over 10 of these books for gifts for men, women, and college students. Yesterday, I had an 8th grade girl who asked me where I bought the latest book because she wants to purchase her own. She said it was one of the funniest books she had ever read. Don't miss out on this one.

This book is hilarious! It was bought as a gift from my mother as we sometimes buy each other little books with silly phrases like this. This is the best one I've read yet. All of the phrases are unique and funny. And the illustrations are great. Sort of expensive for what it is but worth the price in my opinion.

Using several, although repetitive, examples from various films, Hicks clearly defines a thriller film. This alone is worth the price. The word thriller is so often thrown around these days, that it's true form is very hard to find. After reading his book, I realized I wasn't writing a thriller at all. Very key information that helped me solve a few holes.
Upon completion you will clearly understand the thriller genre and be able to explain it to others. As far as helping you write a thriller film goes, well isn't defining the genre necessary before writing it? A worthy purchase.

Neill Hicks is a GENRE-OLOGIST of the highest degree. The author takes you on a tightly writtern journey into the conventions and principles of the Thriller genre. Just like a well told story, this non-fiction delight will have you saying "Oh Yeah, that's right" over and over. I have returned to his chapter "Character Ethos" multiple times, finding more depth in each reading. Even if you don't want to write a Thriller, this work will help you grasp the nuances of genre in general. Written with authority and humor, I highly recommend this book.
Terrific Book -- A Must-Have.......2004-09-11
First, a disclaimer: Hicks and I share a publisher (Michael Wiese Productions) but we've never met. That being said, this is a terrific book. Hicks clearly lays out the elements necessary to create a tight, emotionally-satisfying thriller. He outlines the narrative structure of a solid thriller in clear, helpful language, and goes on to explain the characteristics of a strong protagonist and antagonist. He also offers an explanation of the differences between an action film, a detective film, a horror film and a thriller -- and he provides examples and script excerpts from great thrillers (such as North By Northwest and Breakdown) to demonstrate his ideas. If you want to write a thriller script, or just get a better idea of what it takes to create and structure a solid thriller, this is the book for you.
Worth every penny.......2003-11-22
As a language arts teacher and story writer I found his analysis of genre to be absolutely amazing. Not since reading Marie von Franz and other Jungian views of genre and the shadow world have I found such clarity. Don't listen to those who put it down. It was obviously over their heads - as stated by one reviewer directly. If you understand Jung and psychology, you'll find this to be an excellent resource in the way Hicks creates the psychological levels of conflict resolution through his labeling of plot components and the protagonist's journey.
HOW TO MASTER THIS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT GENRE.......2003-03-15
I bought this book to help me with my current script. I thought I was writing a thriller, but after reading it, I have discovered that I am really writing a horror story! At last, someone has finally dissected what a thriller IS and ISN'T. I need to see the RULES, and they are all here. Now I understand the genre. Mr. Hicks has done an outstanding job by explaining what it is and how to do it. His screenplay excerpts are excellent. I'm going to rent "Breakdown" this weekend and study the form.

Lots of spelling errors mar this otherwise interesting collection of studio stories. Lenny Bruce's name is spelled Lennie and then once sentence later it's spelled properly. Mike Nesmith of the Monkees is constantly referred to as "Nesbett". Maybe that's what Tedesco remember's his name as, yet it would be better if there was a 'sic' after the name.

Good book for beginners........2006-05-23
I have never been a crossword puzzle person. I recently purchased this book after flipping through it at a bookstore. The early puzzles are VERY easy - which is good. It gradually builds in difficulty, but it will also build your confidence. I really enjoyed working on and actually being able to complete the puzzles.
The only complaint I have about this book is that, every once in awhile, there is a clue where the answer is just plain wrong. It may be in the same category, but it is not the correct answer. There are only a few of them. But, as a beginner who is shy about even trying these puzzles (and was even shy about carrying this book around) it was very frustrating. Still, I do recommend this book for beginners and rate it as 5 stars. It is worth buying because it does accomplish its goal of building the confidence of a crossword puzzle beginner.
I also recently purchased the second book in this "Everything Easy" series. I have just started it, but it appears to be just as good as the first book and appears to be the next logical step.
I will probably never be able to complete the most difficult puzzles out there in the daily newspapers with a pen. I just don't have that kind of historical, literary and other knowledge. But I can now say that I do enjoy working on crossword puzzles because of this book.

The book is huge in size and they're are tons of puzzles-some easier than others. A little difficult for the beginer (me). Check out the inside of the book before buying.
Ecellent for Young and Old.......2004-05-23
Both my 10 year old son and I thoroughly enjoyed the book. The various themes were entertaining and the difficulty level was just right. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys crosswords and the wit and art that is used to make them.

If you like the other THE NANNIES books this one will not dissapoint. Things with the nannies are the same as ever totally crazy and fun. Remember Luis? the guy Lydia slept with...well he's coming with a vengance. Esme is wondering whats going on with Jonathan he's working on a movie and guess who works in wardrobe none other then his ex Mackenzie. Kylie isnt doing so hot either. Now that Platinums house is being run by her sister and brother in law things are hard. Especially when Kylie finds out that Platinums brother in law is being oh so bad with someone another nanny is living with. Things heat up in tainted love. . .how much? thats for me to know and you to find out!
