This compact book has a beautiful hardcover design and a frosted dust jacket. The author is creator of greeting cards plus more. This colorful artwork is wonderful as the pages reflect warm and witty insights. Just look at the minute details in each picture. Every little thing is in it's place, adding to the dimension. Excellent addition to the Engelbreit Collection.......2000-04-04
This book is filled with more wonderful illustrations from Engelbreit. Each one will warm your heart. It is a welcome addition to any books you may already own by this illustrator because it focuses so much on the art. Mary Engelbreit is the kind of person you would have over for dinner and this is the kind of book you would have sitting out on the coffee table.

This book has been taken out of the Library several times since I purchased it for our collection in Jan. My hobby is painting, and I thought the directions and examples were well written and illustrated. A very good book for the beginner to intermediate watercolor enthusiast.

Photos are wonderful, the demos really help one to see how to get from your photo to a painting - to see from both the photographer's eye and the painter's eye. For those of you that sometimes get stuck in the detail of the photo and want to loosen up - this is a very helpful demonstration. A wonderful kickstart if you're having a "block" too - you do WANT to paint from these photos! Happy Painting!

What you see is what you get.......2007-01-20
This book is about as small as the picture on your computer screen. They should state that this is the actual size. Also the categories that the word finds are broken down into were not as basic as I needed them. I was hoping to use this book with young children, but they would probably not know or understand over half of the words in this book.

I bought this book for my Dad who has early onset Alzheimer's and ALS.
He loves to work the crypts. It takes a few days to get one done but they are helping to keep his brain active. Thanks so much.

The cryptograms were both witty and held my interest. The letters were far too close together for me. Had the spacing been further apart I would have given it 5 stars. I was not able to do but a few due to that. Thank you, Robbie Poor
A Fun Idea, But..........2006-10-19
I love cryptograms. I've lost hours *spell-bound* in the darn things, even though I'm not the best cryptographer. This book of puzzles is immediately appealing because it's shaped like an armchair - and that shape somehow makes it comfortable to hold and fun to see. The layout of the puzzles is interesting because the puzzle on the left page relates to the puzzle on the right page of each two-page spread. Even though the two puzzles use different codes, you can use information on one page to help figure out the code of the facing page.
On the negative side - and this was frustrating enough that I decided to write a warning about it - the type is tiny and the lines are too close together. If you write letters above the coded ones, it is then difficult to read your own writing. The type is also a serif italic font that makes it difficult to distinguish between the letters "b" and "h". Similarly, some upper cases are tricky.
Worst of all, there are several typographical errors. This is a sure killer in a word game.
I hope that the editor decides to re-edit it, making the type larger and plainer, and correcting the errors.

I LOVED this book of puzzles! I ordered it along with another book as a package deal and didn't think it would be as entertaining. Boy, was I wrong. I really enjoyed the quotes that were so very current and the "families" that made you think. I hope to see an Armchair Puzzlers II in the near future!

Fun and interesting cryptograms. Not the same old quotes. Am looking forward to more by this author.

Challenging puzzles - including some types of puzzles I've never seen anywhere else. A lot more fun and more difficult than most "fun" puzzle books.
