Must Have for Rare Coin Investors.......2003-06-26
As a professional rare coin dealer, this is one of the books I recommend to new investors as well as investors and collectors who are trying to gain as much insight and information into numismatics "before they invest". In-depth and informative, Breens encyclopedia is a must have for any investor or collector of rare coins.
Walter Breen's Complete Encyclopedia of U.S. & Colonial Coin.......2003-03-05
Perhaps only a coin collector can realy appreciate this book for what it truly represents, but anyone that wants to know about a coin variety can use it !! This book is a one stop shopping coin variety encyclopedia. Variety of coin means nothing more than coin variations, the different things done in manufacturing throughout a coins life that differentiate from any other of the same minted coins in series. The Lincoln cent has been minted for almost 100 years; and there are litteraly 1000s' of Lincoln cent varieties, ie: 1909, 1909s, 1909svdb, 1922 plain no "d" weak obverse & strong reverse, 1960 lrg. date, 1960 sml. date, 1955/55 double die, and on ....... These variations hold true for all coins ever minted in the U.S. The pictorial examples of these variations, not to mention the research that went into them, is surpassed by none !! Its always been difficult for this writer to acquire this book do to its cost, but Amazon.com not only priced it right, " it made it possible ", Thanks Amazon
Highly Recommended.......2000-02-18
If you collect US coins there is simply no better referrence than this book. It is absolutley full of useful and vital information for the serious collector. Its expensive, but worth every penny.
Get it.
The most important numismatic book in the world........1999-02-05
This is the ultimate book on American numismatics, and I use it almost every day. Walter Breen was the most dedicated researcher imaginable. There are hundreds of mistakes in the book, but there are millions of things he got right, so the errors are mostly insignificant. A++

Book Description
Karl Blossfeldt (1865-1932) was neither a professional photographer nor a natural scientist. He was a sculptor, amateur photographer, and a professor at Berlin's school of arts and crafts where he taught modeling. His interest in the plant world was of an artistic and didactic nature: he was fascinated by the structure of plants, their organic configuration, and their "lofty artistic form" born "of expediency," which he wanted to illustrate and compare in a photographic style that could be described as strictly objective, almost graphic. His goal was to create a catalogue of forms for the benefit of artists, artisans, and, above all, architects, providing them with a book of instruction and models to guide them in their designs.
Customer Reviews:
Archetypes Of Form And Structure.......2002-04-02
Form is highly mimetic in nature. A limited number of what might be called prototypical patterns find their way into an infinite number of fomal structures. For example, it is apparent upon close inspection that branching patterns of trees (best seen in winter, of course) eerily resemble arterial branching patterns of the heart as revealed by cardiologic angiography. Despite divergent functionality of the two systems, the formal architecture is almost identical! This is no accident of nature, to be sure. Karl Blossfeldt: The Alphabet Of Plants is a survey of some basic forms in nature. Its premise, as articulated in an introductory essay by Gert Mattenklott, is that "the architectonics of the modern age are built upon archaic, elemental forces. The rationally calculated workings of machines is in secret correspondence with the eternal rythym of life, and the plant serves as the model." Thus a careful, aesthetically mindful examination of the plant world is important in the first instance because it has the power to inform and expand our perceptual vocabulary. And, following on from that, to enhance our capacity for developing efficient, durable industry and for creating visually resonant art and architecture. Indeed, Blossfeldt was a sculptor by training and so the primacy and importance of form in his photography need hardly surprise us. What does surprise, however, in this eye-opening series of high contrast, texturally detailed duotone photographs (created some seventy to eighty years ago) of mostly quite unusual plant morphology, is the obvious correspondence of the geometry of plant life to so many of the constituitive and ornamental forms that make up the physical manifestations of modernity. There are only a limited number of (archetypal) patterns to be made use of, it seems, and their inventory is definable.
Book Description
This book contains more than 600 thought provoking questions on all topics, from family to career, from religion to love, from sex to friendship. Some are easy, some complicated, some admittedly controversial. These questions will spice up any conversation. They can be posed to friends, spouses, casual acquaintances, lovers, relatives, just about anyone! They're intended, at the very least, to initiate some fun and perhaps lively conversations and they may open up conversational territories previously unknown. This book guarantees a great time!
Customer Reviews:
grt start but most easy to already know.......2006-10-28
I mean for a question only book just on mostly friendship and love this is definantly the best I've seen. And I've studied a ton of the good ones and mediocer ones in depth. However, you may likely be able to come up with many of them on your own/find them elsewhere. On e-harm, perfect match, chemistry, or other places. They organized the questions very well also which not all those other sites I mentioned above do. And the authors live in a state of very high quality so it is pretty impressive. I know, I'm tough to please
A really great way to know and understanding the people around you........2006-08-18
This book is wonderful. I thought I knew all of my firends, until this book...WOW! We laugh, cry, even argue but it's all in good clean fun. I love this book and I think that this is a GREAT way to get to know someone. Enjoy!
Great book.......2006-07-20
I have used this book for a long distance relationship, and this books is perfect for such relationship. This book really has some great questions to spark interesting conversations and answers. This is a truly great book if you're looking a book of questions.
Perfect.......2006-06-10
I absolutely love this book. Here's some basics:
* It is small enough to bring with you in your car, or into a restraunt if you are going on a date or something like that.
* There's 2 questions per page, and the book is 318 pages long. So you get over 600 questions. The text is also in large print, so it's easy to read, and easy to just open up the book and ask a question from any given page.
* The book is very well organized. More "innocent" questions are at the front of the book, with more personal questions in the middle, and the MOST private questions in the back.
* Categories are further broken down into subcategories, such as "Youth", "Career", "Habits", "Sex", etc.
The book may not have as many questions as other books, but I still give it 5 stars based on the quality of the questions (fantastic), the organization, and physical dimensions of the book. You can't go wrong here.
Revealing fun........2003-09-17
I just brought this book on a road trip with some people who were actually already good friends but we still learned a whole lot about each other. It was really fun and helped pass the time. We were using each others new found info all weekend to make jokes and laugh. Plus as the holder of the book I could sqeeze in any question I wanted to and pretend it was in the book.
Book Description
The hilarious, Academy Award-nominated screenplay that features six old friends, three disastrous receptions, a tongue-tied priest, and the role that made Hugh Grant the world's favorite bumbling bachelor.Toasted by romantics and cynics, critics and fans, Four Weddings and a Funeral grossed more than $250 million worldwide, garnered Academy Award nominations for Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay, and was unanimously pronounced the romantic comedy of the 90s.Richard Curtis's smart, irreverent, and brilliantly crafted screenplay will delight fans of the movie, as well as screenwriters and film students. From the first spoken line to the last ("I do"), it's a jubilant celebration of friendship, romance, and good humor.
Customer Reviews:
A screenplay book that's as much fun as the film!.......2000-04-01
I bought this book shortly after reading the screenplay of Notting Hill(also by Mr. Curtis and another beautiful volume). This book is fully worth reading, whether you are a fan of the film, the genre of romantic comedy, and even if you wish to learn the ins and outs of filmmaking. That said, the bonus sections, especially the scenes cut from the film, make this book more than just a "companion" piece and frankly, are the bits I keep going back to.
All in all, the book makes for an enlightening look into how words on a page become a successful film.

Book Description
The Urban Arcana Campaign Setting is the first setting to be released for players of the d20 Modern Roleplaying Game. It greatly expands on material available to d20 Modern players and includes new races, advanced classes, occupations, feats, creatures, and rules for organizations and secret societies. It contains both short adventures and adventure hooks and presents a fully detailed city for adventuring, including maps. A key feature is the expanded magic system that features new magic items for the modern world.
Customer Reviews:
An amalgamation of modern magic.......2003-09-24
When I read of this setting idea in the back D20 Modern I thought it would be an interesting thing to look over and maybe play. Now that I have it, I can see my expectations were rather justified as Urban Arcana looks like a kind of amalagamation of dark modern ideas like the X-Files and mixes it with a bit of Harry Potter's world. Freaky in some respects but intriguing none the less. Most of the standard D&D races are availble for play as well some non-standard races. I'm getting some other stuff to play with this and I may just try to do a kind of D20 Shadowrun when all is said and done, the possibilties are endless.
It pays to wait.......2003-06-06
Okay, so first off, I have to admit that I haven't used this in actual play, but over all this is a good looking campaign supplement. It delivers on the promise that we got in the tiny section of D20 Modern and then some. It looks like the kind of fun, fast campaign world that atttracted me to D&D oh, so many years ago.
In fact, with all the changes to D&D, and the 3.5 "update", I may just cut to the chase and play D20 Modern in the Urban Arcana world instead!

Elvis Presley Unseen Archives
This book charts the life and achievements of the boy from Tupelo, Mississippi, from his first taste of fame in the early 1950s to his untimely death in 1977. Over 400 fabulous photographs document the important events in his life and career. The pictures are accompanied by informative captions, adding context and depth to his amazing story, and an appendix of facts and figures sets out his remarkable achievements in the music industry.
Customer Reviews:
Elvis Unseen Archives.......2003-04-16
Every Elvis Presley fan should own this book. Pictures on every page, colour and black and white, and many unseen photographs. My daughter just bought herself a copy, and now I have to get one too.
Great Book!
Good and Bad.......2003-01-22
Very nice layout of pictures both color and B&W. High quality shots. Some very common pictures but also filled with "new" pictures previously unpublished. The compliants I see are that there are captions inside pictures covering up parts of the pictures, this is annoying. Also the author didn't check the facts right. There are many errors in these captions when talking about Elvis and his life. But this book is mainly about the pictures, a great coffee table book!
Customer Reviews:
Love It!.......2007-10-02
I picked up this book on a whim for my 2 year old who is obsessed with the Beatles. However, I have spent several hours myself looking through it and I love being able to read about the stories behind the pictures, even if she cant enjoy them yet. The pictures are brilliant and the size of them is also good, no squinting to see whats going on. I would recommend this book to any Beatles fan, and to anyone else who wants to know more about them, not only as a band but as individuals.
Priceless Photos of a Timeless Band.......2007-07-23
The book is of ample size and delivers the goods--hundreds of beautiful, all black-and-white photos of the Beatles (together and solo, with or without friends and family). A lot of these impress me in that I actually HAVE NOT seen them before. Although I found a number of mistakes in the little captions beside the pictures (for example, since when is "She Said She Said" on Sgt. Pepper?), this is completely trivial since what the book really offers are glossy, high-quality images of the Fab Four we all know and love. It is a great photo album, and worth it every step of the way for all Beatles collections. Recommended.
Also, being that there is no cover image on Amazon yet, I would just like to add that that should not shy you away from this purchase. The cover has John, Paul, George, and Ringo all sitting alongside each other with shining gold print displaying the title, "Images of the Beatles." Very handsome outside sleeve; perfect for coffee table display.
Yes It Is, It's True........2005-11-15
Yes, it is one of the best Beatles photo albums I've ever seen. It covers that period from 1963 through the breakup and to George's death in 2001. Some of the pictures are familiar, others aren't. It's a wonderful journey to start at the beginning and see the Beatles' milestones and how they change. We see their early exuberance and eagerness to please by posing in showbizzy poses in matching suits, being feted and receiving endless awards. They morph into the ultimate cool icons, hair growing shaggier, clothes weirder. Their relationships are chronicled. First it was Cyn, Jane, Patti and Mo. Then it was Linda and Yoko. Eventually Patti and Maureen were replaced by Olivia and Barbara. I love the early pictures of the women - all those wonderful dolly dresses and Patti's amazing eyes. (I was sooo jealous of her!). The pictures thin out after the breakup. There are intermittent photos of the individual Beatles and their families (mostly Paul) through the 70s, 80s and 90s. The last photo in the book is the sad photo of Paul the morning George died. There are almost no photos of the Beatles taken in America so it cannot be called a comprehensive collection. After all, this was the English press (Daily Mail and AP)and a lot of these photos never made it stateside until now. One thing that historians will note is the plethora of shots from the middle '60s showing just how important they were during that time. I'm so happy to have come upon this book. It is highly recommended for Beatles fans both who remember when and who want to know what it was like.
Beatle Gallery!.......2005-11-07
I love this collection of Beatle photographs taken from early in their careers to the post-Beatle years. (I have two copies of this book - the first one has a chronology that stops in 1999-2000, when George was still alive and the second one includes George's tragic demise in 2001).
I love the way a Beatle song is used as a title for each chapter. The photos are well documented and include many people who crossed paths with the Beatles, such as Harold Wilson, Ed Sullivan (of course) and many lesser known people.
The book also provides a rich history for each year that is being covered. Events are chronicled in the chronology and is a very "Beatle friendly" gauge indeed. The Beatles' travels and events regarding same are recorded. There are two pictures of George, packing his "Beatle Bag," with the picture captioned about how BOAC provided the Fabs free flights from England to France provided they advertised with those bags. Harold & Louise Harrison, Sr. are shown, sending their son off to America proudly and lovingly. These make a good book even better.
Many of these photographs had not seen the light of day prior to the publication of this wonderful book. No Beatle fan should be without this one!
Awesome Collection of Rare Photos.......2003-11-22
This is a collection of rare Beatles' photos taken from pre-1964 to a period 'after the Beatles.' Each chapter of the book is titled after a Beatles' song (e.g. chapter four is titled "Hello Goodbye").
The photos have descriptions beside them giving an explanation of what is going on in the pic, where it might have been taken, who is in the pic, and other facts that might pertain tom the pic such as record stats, radio shows, TV programs, etc.
Periodically throughout this book a chronology of a certain year (i.e. 1968) will be shown. The chronology explains what happened on certain dates or days in that year. For instance, in the 1968 chronology, on 23 August it states "Ringo quits the Beatles during the recording sessions for the White Album."
The book contains 600 photographs selected from the archives of the 'Daily Mail." The book contains over 200 photographs from negatives never previously printed and are said to be printed here for the first time.
The pictures in this book are pics taken at parties, vacations that each Beatles member took alone, or together, recording studio shots, candid shots (some of these are just plain terrible, but fun to see), and many other various settings. This is a great book for Beatles' fans, and a must for hard core Beatles collectors.

That fabulous face!.......2005-11-09
It's a uniquely American tale. Young cute girl with some natural talent and good looks remade into stunning zaftig star. And tragic as well. Marie Clayton's bio puts together some incredible photos. I would have never pictured myself much of a Marilyn fan, but I'm just so taken with her smile. Her face conveys so much. I'm not talking about complicated emotions, but just stunningly simple and beautiful reactions. Plus, the sheer physicality of her. She's ample and full. Clayton's done a nice job assembling this book.

John Lennon Unseen Archives
John Lennon was the man who founded The Beatles, and whose energy and commitment were greatly influential in taking them to the height of fame. He became more than a musician and went on to influence an entire generation. John Lennon: Unseen Archives with evocative photographs from The Daily Mail captures the impact he made upon the world; the memories of which still linger with us today.
Customer Reviews:
A Book For The Ages.......2005-05-02
I'm a great fan of John Lennon's work and this, almost behind the scenes, book shows me how his life really was like. It wasn't always perfect like people think it could be. The photographs tell a story in themselves with the short captions helping you along the way. The easy to read context makes it that more interesting.
Beautiful photographs, a must have for Lennon fans.......2004-05-02
So many Beatles-related books trot out the same photos, again and again. You all know the ones I'm talking about. But this book is decidedly and refreshingly different. I have many Lennon biographies in my library and this book contains many previously unpublished photos of John, especially ones from his childhood and in the period 1975-1980. The paper quality in the book is exceptional and is thick, glossy material which results in a stunning display of black and white vibrancy. The text is incidental but adds flavor and gives you the year each photo was taken.
The photos of the Beatles are a little weaker, and contain many previously known shots. But the individual pictures of John are outstanding. Consider the beautiful profile view on the cover of the book, taken in 1967. This is just a sampling of what this treasure trove has to offer. There are many other such nuggets within the covers. Any serious fan of John Lennon will adore this book and get many hours of pleasure perusing these photos of a great cultural and musical icon. John himself would scoff at such a description, but it's oh so true.

The Beatles.......2005-06-03
The four lads who started it all! The Beatles: Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Ringo Starr, and George Harrison starring in The Beatles Unseen Archives! A true life story about The Beatles. They are the four people who changed rock history, succeeded and got along very well until the end of them. The group bestrode the world like a Colossus. It doesn°Øt teach you much, only a few paragraphs on each page, but it sure does have a lot of pictures! In my opinion, I think the book was excellent, but that is just because I really enjoy The Beatles. If you don°Øt like The Beatles, but want to learn about them, I suggest you read it. You also have to know that this is the first Beatles book I have ever read so I have no clue if this one is the best one.
I really love the beatles.......2005-05-26
That book was amazing! I read it twice and I really learned alot from it. It has amazing photo's of the beatles and you don't want to stop to put the book down! It teaches you about ALL of the beatles experiences and even shows you how it was after the beatles and what they did. There is a timeline after each chapter so you would know what was going on at that time during the beatles! I really enjoy the beatles and that was the best book i have ever read!
Awesome and worth it!.......2004-02-23
First off, obviously, it's not that expensive of a book. Basically, what you're getting here, is a giant photo album of candid and sometimes composed Beatles pictures. You won't really learn a lot from it, but it's very fun to look at! It also makes for a nice coffee table book.
The Beatles Are Forever ~~.......2003-01-30
Outstanding and wonderful pictures, never seen before. Over 600 photos of the Beatles in rare moments, private moments and having fun. The chronological history of each year of The Beatles in each chapter, and the pictures tell it all. Fascinating facts and history, in this book is definatley for any Beatle fan. A collectors book by far. But, it's the story of their lives before, during, and after, that make this book hard to put down from start to finish.
