I don't know what to say but the quality and delivery time were exceptional!!
The book came within a week of my purchase while still in its plastic wrapper.

Diverse and rich artwork.......2004-07-31
An allure of this book is the many (206) illustrations of art from the kingdoms of west and central Africa. Of these, some 140 are in full colour and show the impressive skill of the court artists.
In Benin, Dahomey, Yoruba and other kingdoms, there were flourishing scenes. Each distinctive and fascinating. Readers may be familiar with the centuries of European artwork and how these varied between those countries. One thing this book makes clear is that central Africa had an equally rich and diverse history that, sadly, has not been often recognised by outsiders.
The book can be read at several levels. The first and most immediate is simply an appreciation of the illustrations. A deeper level is to integrate that visual appreciation with an understanding of the cultures from which they derived.
excellent, difficult to find quality like this........1999-02-12
One of the finest books on African Art I have studied. I showed my copy to a business assoicate from the Republic of Congo. She is from the Kuba tribe and deals in art from this area. She asked me to get a copy for her work and a friend of hers wanted another copy. If the African people approved of the book, what else can I say. Top reference book.
Beautiful, fascinating photos, detailed text, overview weak.......1998-12-12
This is a rare good book. We have too little exposure to the great arts of Africa; this book is a remedy. ABy linking the art chosen to the royalty of West Afarica kingdoms, whe illustrates how close the connections were between power and art; power including raeligious and ritual power as well as temporal. The book lacked only an overview analysis to tie all the sections together amorae firmly.

Unparalleled Wit & Wisdom.......2002-12-01
"I can resist everything except temptation."
"There is no sin except stupidity."
"It is only shallow people who do not judge by appearances."
"It is always with the best intentions that the worst work is done."
These laconic aphorisms are just the tip of the iceberg of Wilde's impressive, yet oftentimes eclectic and nihilistic, use of the English language. Dover gives us 60 pages of brilliant witticisms and axioms to use over and over again for a mere dollar. You can't go wrong. Also recommended - Dover's Shakespeare quotes book for a dollar. Enjoy.
Thin small and funny.......2002-01-11
Everyone knows OW was a witty guy.
If you want to find witty things he said in one small book such that you can try to emulate his wit, this book is for you.
It's good for an hour's read where you will snicker, snort, and grin.
It's exactly what i expected and exactly what I got. Whee!
Oscar Wilde is a Genius.......2000-03-27
This collection of Wilde's greatest quotes is an easy read, and wonderful to keep around the house. Wilde's wisdom is displayed throughout this edition, and is a must have for any Wilde fan.

The Secret Life Of Oscar Wilde
ASIN: 0517194600
Release Date: 1999-11-23 |
Book Description
Wilde on Sincerity: "A little sincerity is a dangerous thing, and a great deal of it is absolutely fatal." Nearly a century after his death, the wit of Oscar Wilde remains as fresh and barbed as ever. This collection of his works, letters, reviews, anecdotes and repartee is ample proof of this iconoclast's enduring place in the world of arts and letters.
Customer Reviews:
"Between Me and Life There is A Mist of Words Always".......2003-08-09
Oscar Wilde once said "Drama is the meeting place of art and life." In this essential, compact volume Ralph Keyes leaves a trail to that corner by gathering the flamboyant author's thorniest, at times most insightful quotes and anecdotes. Keyes uses Wilde's plays, reviews, letters, interrogations, even conversational repartee (given its own section) which remained Wilde's signature to his time.
Keyes divides Wilde's epigrams and puns into brief, easily readable sections. Wilde twists traditional views on permanent truths and those of his day: altruism ("Charity creates a multitude of sins.") history ("History is merely gossip.") theology, poverty, dissent ("Discontent is the first step in the progress of a man or a nation.")
Above all, Wilde (through Keyes' selections) quips and dissects each of the fine arts (music, prose, painting) and roles for creator, viewer, interpreter. He addresses the writer ("Even prophets correct their proofs.") critic ("Criticism is the highest form of autobiography"), and artist ("Like the Greek gods, artists are known only to each other.")
Amid his fast-paced one liners on male-female relations you sense how Wilde viewed marriage over and above his well-known bromide, "Divorces are made in heaven." The book ends with Wilde explaining and defending the homosexual relationship he called "the love that dare not speak its name". Whether or not you accept Wilde's lifestyle preferences, his eloquent, sad defense of a letter he wrote a younger man is moving as he describes the unique merge of intellect and youthful energy which to him formed "the noblest sort of affection." It is as close to heartfelt as anyone could get who once said, "A little sincerity is a dangerous thing, and a great deal of it is absolutely fatal."
Oscar Wilde was parodied, villified, and eventually imprisoned for his beliefs and flamboyance. But he eventually influenced artists from George Bernard Shaw to John Lennon, staking a claim as the earliest example of a postmodern artist. This book helps introduce Wilde's full books and plays (Keyes references them consistently and provides a full bibliography), or helps you reference witty, intellectual (or psuedo-intellectual, as Wilde might have preferred) quotes for any occassion. (As to plagarizing, Wilde himself called it, "the privilege of the appreciative man.") His full literary courses are nutritious and filling enough, but "The Wit and Wisdom of Oscar Wilde" is as savory when reading or writing as salt is when dining.

Customer Reviews:
I AM MY PARENTS CHILD.......2007-04-10
Easy read. Just like the authors suggested, you cannot get away from how your parents interactions both as a couple and as a parent affected you. You can instead take this thought provoking journey, recognize and do something about the "ahhhas" to stop the generational pull toward the negatives and identify the postives. Truly defines "you" are uniquely you.
Actually, It Is Your Parents' Fault: Why Your Romantic Relationship Isn't Working, and How to Fix It.......2007-04-06
I bought this for my daughter. I also got a second copy for myself. I have not been able to start reading it, but I was intrigued by interviews the author gave. I am looking forward to enjoying it soon.
Support for those that are looking for it........2007-03-28
An excellent book. Well written and hits home to a lot of 'family of orign' issues. I facilitate a 'divorce recovery' program and gave a copy to each person in the group. It helped them in identifying their part in the broken relationship better. It also allows them to not blame as much as to take responsibility and work for increased personal growth.
Ellen.......2007-02-26
This is a fun self-help book that enables you to laugh at yourself while learning so much about your relationships with others. I related to the book and the author's advice on every level. Anyone interested in this book should also check out Van Munching's last best seller: "Boys Will Put you on a Pedastal, so They can look up your Skirt." Another incredibly written advice book that hits the nail on the head.
Excellent, readable advice.......2007-02-22
This is one of the best relationship books I've ever read. It is filled with information, advice, tips for good relating, but all conveyed in the most readable style. I couldn't put it down. I'm going to make my boyfriend read it, too.

What To Do Before "I DO"
Along with helping you plan out each aspect of your wedding, from buying your engagement ring to making the honeymoon reservations, The Everything Wedding Book also explains how to alleviate a lot of the pressure and many of the hassles by using some simple advanced planning. It offers suggestions on how to deal with potential problems that may arise from difficult family situations, such as illness and divorce. And it gives you the lowdown on how to set up exotic weddings, too, if your budget has room for that.
But if all you want to know is where to have your wedding, what to wear, who should take your pictures, and how to resolve all other practical issues, there's plenty of that kind of stuff in here, too.
You will find everything you need in , The Everything Wedding Book. You will find answers to the questions of who (to talk to), what (to say and do), when (to do it), and how to handle (budgeting, styling, scheduling, etc.) and anything else you may need to know to plan your perfect wedding. The year-long calendar will help you map out an overall strategic time plan, and keep track of appointments, fittings, and payment deadlines. Keep this book handy and you'll have everything covered.
Customer Reviews:
The book stinks.......2007-04-05
This book stinks--literally!!!!! The book is good for planning a wedding but it smelled so bad I couldn't read it. IT smelled like stale cigarette smoke and must. It made me sick to read it. It should have been disclosed that the book had a stench to it.
I was so looking forward to passing it on to my future sister in law but I had to throw it away because it smelled so bad.
Please warn buyers of the condition of books being purchased.
Eh.......2005-08-16
Not terrible, but not the easiest read and a tad difficult to follow along with. Seemed to go out of order or jump around a lot. I would recommend the Unofficial Guide to Planning your Wedding or The Dummies Guide. Or better yet, do what I did and check them all out from the library first, and THEN decide which one to buy
A must have for all Brides to be!.......2005-08-04
I don't know what I would have done without this book! It told me so many things I didn't know. I only have 2 friends that are married so I am new to all this wedding stuff and this book definately pointed my in the right direction. I even recommended it to someone else that is getting married! Get this book.
Offensive and contradictory.......2004-10-24
I'm going to run out of room if I say everything I want to about this book. Suffice it to say that much of its advice is straight out of the Fifties (including all the stuff about your dad getting his Heart Broken because his Little Girl is All Grown Up Now....barf). Also, one page says that invitations should never be addressed "and family," and then about 100 pages later there's a sample invitation addressed to "so-and-so and family." This is what happens when 3 people write a book.
Nothing Special.......2003-09-30
I bought this book off of the used section of Amazon.com, and boy am I glad I did. I would have been furious if I had paid full price for this book. This book does not have any information or worksheets in it that you couldn't gather from wedding magazines or off of the many different wedding websites. The only benefit that I can see is that all the information is in one place - but personally, I'd rather get it for free and assemble the information into a binder of my own. My advice - either buy the book at a discounted price, or skip it all together and invest some time surfing the web or a few magazines.
Book Description
Love Actually is the highly awaited new screenplay and directorial debut from phenomenally popular screenwriter Richard Curtis. Weaving together the stories of ten couples, the movie is as real as our own lives, and as funny, wise, and poignant as only Richard Curtis (Four Weddings and a Funeral) could create.
Set in contemporary London just before Christmas, the cast includes a lovelorn Prime Minister, an aging rock star, a sexually ambitious assistant, a newly widowed stepfather, a beautiful housekeeper, a straying husband, and other characters entangled in the silly, sloppy, sexy, sweet business of finding love. The film's stellar actors include Hugh Grant, Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman, Colin Firth, Liam Neeson, Laura Linney, and others.
Introduced by Richard Curtis, the book features the full screenplay plus outtakes, behind-the-scenes snapshots, and more. With marvelous full-color photographs throughout, this smart, funny, romantic book is a valentine for anyone who still believes that despite the madness and uncertainty of modern life, love actually is all around.
Customer Reviews:
Love Actually - includes all the extras.......2007-04-23
WHAT IT IS
This is one of the best presentations of a script I've purchased in recent months. There's loads of extras in this paperback including some queries with the principle actors, bascstories on characters, cut scenes and storylines, great photos (behind the scenes as well as infront of the camera) and of course, the full screenplay.
WHY I PURCHASED IT
In general this is one of my favorite movies, but I am also an aspiring screenwriter and am currently using this screenplay to assist me with formatting my own intersecting lives in my screen play. It's a relief to see a screenplay with such depth be easily read and translated by enve a novie like me. Love Actually is proof positive that the best screenplays are rewritten, not written. Thank you Richard Curtis!
LOVE ACTUALLY!.......2007-02-02
amazing movie, soundtrack AND book. i love love love it. when i got it i basically flipped out and sat down and read the whole thing through. this is a must have for anyone who loved the movie!
Thinking man's "feel good" movie.......2007-01-09
This is a film for people, like myself, who like movies that make them think, but occassionly need a feel-good flick with just enough complication to keep it interesting. I laughed, I cried, I got up on my feet and danced, I clapped my hands and I'm telling everyone I know that Love Actually is, actually, a must see movie!!!! And, so the screenplay is, also, a must read!
great body of work.......2004-02-24
Richard Curtis is a genius! Although I haven't seen the movie version yet, Love Actually the screenplay heightened my excitement for the movie. The screenplay will leave readers giddy with excitement, eagerly anticipating the turnout of every character's story.
All characters are very human and everyone is looking for love in different forms, which anyone can easily relate to. Readers will find themselves rooting for all characters. The book is also complemented with photos of the movie and budding scriptwriters can pick up points on how to make a screenplay.
The book is masterfully written and it is a great read for those who are looking for love because, as Hugh Grant's character says in the opening scene, "I've got a sneaking suspicion you'll find that love actually is all around."
A beautiful film, a fun screenplay.......2003-12-24
I've been quite pleased at the number of my favorite films whose scripts have been published in recent years, and this book makes a nice addition to that collection. "Love Actually" was a beautiful film, nine great love stories woven together in a way that takes an absurd amount of talent on the writer's part. Richard Curtis, in this book, tells a bit about how the film came about, shares some scenes and storylines that were cut (some before filming, some afterwards), and of course includes the script. With so many storylines being juggled around it would have been quite easy for this story to get jumbled or confusing, but Curtis balances all nine stories perfectly. For those still a bit confused, however, Curtis includes a "family tree" in this book that shows how everyone in the film is linked to everyone else.
The book also includes a gallery of posters for the movie, "Love" Q&As filled out by the stars (you'll be quite surprised to learn which ones are cynics and which are romantics at heart), and tons of photographs throughout. I got this book because, as a movie geek, I wanted to read the screenplay to get a feel for how to write such a story, but this book turned out to be a wonderful volume for those who are just fans of the movie as well.
