Book Description
China was one of the first civilizations to engage in printmaking. Ink, paper, printing from cut wooden blocks, and moveable type were all invented in China. This unique book provides both a helpful introduction to the history and traditions of printmaking in China and a comprehensive guide to traditional and contemporary printmaking techniques, including detailed and illustrated sections on different techniques including single color, watercolor, poster color, stencil, and dabbed printing.
This lavishly illustrated guide will be of interest to artists, teachers, collectors, dealers, curators, and art historians.
Customer Reviews:
A Thorough Review of Tecnique and Art.......2006-07-25
This book provides an excellent review of both technique and art. Chinese printmaking techniques, as well as an overview of tools and materials, are covered in depth. This isn't necessarily a book for beginners, but it is thorough in it's explanation and illustration of wood cutting techniques, making it a "must have" resource book for any artist who's serious about printmaking.
The book also includes a wonderful collection of contemporary and traditional Chinese prints which makes the otherwise somewhat dry reading about technique come alive.

Book Description
You Are Worthless is the self-help book from hell. This bracing blast of negativity takes aim at the impossibly cheerful "inspirational self-help" books flooding the market and hits the bullseye, with chapters such as "Your Good-for-Nothing Friends," "Your Miserable Job," and "Life: What's the Use'"
This hilarious parody collects hundreds of tidbits of painful reality such as "You're no good, you're not great-looking, and you're going to die someday and it's probably going to hurt." Who among us isn't sick to death of the gushy, new-agey inspirational books that blindly assert that everyone is worthy' We all know the truth, and this book is as refreshing as a slap to the face.
Just some of the depressingly humorous nuggets of truth include:* You don't really have any outstanding qualities. It's safe to say you're pretty much just like everybody else.* The only reason your pet likes you is because you feed it.* As you get older, you are going to have less and less control over your bladder.* If you take a big risk and follow your dream, chances are you're going to fall flat on your face.
You Are Worthless also features a section called "Hopeless Role Models from History," including Helen Keller ("I've had it"), and Abraham Lincoln ("Theonly thing I'm good at is losing").

Get the point?.......2007-04-13
Life is meaningless. We are all slugs. We should kill ourselves. Or better yet, hire someone to kill you, but before he does, send a letter to the police, with a description of your killer, and his home address, and let him go to prison for the rest of his life. AHAHAHAHAH!!!
But semi-seriously, folks, this is a very funny book. It is a parody, a satire, a joke, a lark, a laugh, a sarcastic look at the things we should all keep in mind as we go through our daily routine.
It's funny because it's ridiculous. It's funny because life is NOT meaningless, we are NOT worthless, and suicide is a waste. Get this book and do not take it seriously, just laugh at it. Give it to some dooms- day, constantly depressed, miserable indivigual and maybe it will cheer him up
by making him see how silly he is. Get the point?
The only self help book ever to make me smile.......2006-03-16
I am not kidding, this book is a wonderful, hilarious cheerer-upper. Plus, it makes you feel like it's ok to not have to be all "hey look at me I'm having the time of my life living happily after like in Pretty Woman or some other romantic comedy." My only criticism is that it does get repetitive after a while. Otherwise I would have given it 5 stars. Overall, a wonderful book!
Irreverent Humor.......2005-05-19
I work in a bookstore and came across this book while shelving my humor section. It gave me a refreshing break from some of the books I deal with on a daily basis in my self improvement section. As another reviewer noted, it should make you feel worse if you feel bad, but it doesn't!! It helps you take yourself a little less seriously. Clearly you wouldn't give this book to a person who is clinically depressed. I'm giving it to my nephew for his college graduation. He has a healthy skepticism about the world and will enjoy this tongue-in-cheek look at life. One quote that struck a chord with me: "Your kids are nothing special. They're just like everyone else's kids." Made me laugh and I'll better handle the next person I come in contact with who goes on and on about their 4 year old reading Grapes Of Wrath .... I'll think of that line and smile. One caution: If you do not appreciate jibes taken at religion (ALL religions), don't read that section!
I love this book........2005-05-08
I found this book just laying out in a parking lot so i picked it up and started reading this funny, so-true book. it's brilliant. At first i just laughed really hard at all the funny little comments but then i actually found that it helped me when i was feeling down. I don't know, it seems like it should just make you feel worse but in some odd way, it makes you feel better. I guess it kind of makes you feel like everyone else in this world is feeling the same and you don't feel weird about everything thats wrong in your life. I'm mad because i gave this book to my boss to read and he lost it so now I'm going to buy it again. I miss having this book around to make me laugh when I'm feeling like crap.
The best bathroom book ever........2005-03-15
A good way to clean out the ol' system is by laughing really hard.
Customer Reviews:
Brilliant!.......2000-11-04
What more can I say? Anders is awesome, as are Rockwell, Rodriguez, and of course, Quentin Tarantino. This is a marvelous screenplay, definitely one of my faves. I'm so glad they produced this screenplay!
I'm also a big Tim Roth fan, so I decided to pick up a copy of the play when I saw it being auctioned. I'm so glad I did! There's some great storyboards as well as some black and white pictures of the film.
It's a great bargain! If you loved the movie as much as I did, you'll love this! A+!
rather than film..........1999-04-28
The idea was conceptually unoriginal but the actual screenplay turned out to be a magical thing that could not, with all our trying, become what it was in the text; An imaginative piece where all involved brought something worthy to the table. The film which it subsequently became is not even on par with what we could call a "movie". A mess is more the truth. Rodriguez' segment is the only worth viewing and then Quentin's second only because this was still when he was hot and feeling like the character he portrayed. 'Jackie Brown' humbled him. I know it did. The screenplay is a stand-alone and should be approached as such. Do not view the film once done. This diminishes all previous effort.

Nice.......2006-08-30
This book was a nice addition to other books that I purchased on planning a wedding shower.
Great for beginners.......2001-05-22
When my sister announced that she's getting married, I announced that I'd love to throw her a shower. I'd never thrown a wedding shower before, and I needed to find something to help me plan one--fast! I was pleased with Ms. Cooke's "Best Baby Shower Book" that I'd bought to plan my friend's baby shower a couple of months before, so I thought I'd try her again. I wasn't disappointed. This book offers instructions and tips for throwing fun parties in a straight-forward way, and none of the parties seemed overwhelming to plan or impossible to pull off. The theme I chose was fun to plan, and the party was a blast. This book is a new edition, and it seems as if the problems with the previous edition mentioned in the previous review were addressed.
SHOWER BOOK FAILS.......2000-03-02
I WAS EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS BOOK. THE GAME SUGESTIONS WERE TIRED AND ONE DOESN'T NEED SEVERAL COPIES OF GAME FORMS TO WASTE PAGES. MENUS WERE NOT INNOVATIVE,IN FACT,NOTHING WAS.
Customer Reviews:
Fun and Helpful.......2002-08-20
This little book has gotten me through two weddings and have started scouring its contents for ideas for a third shower!! I found it totally wonderful in its innovative ideas and overall helpful info.
Not recommended........2001-05-10
I got this book in hopes that it would give me ideas that are unique and plentiful. I did not find this here. It's not a nuts and bolts book - and is a little strange in it's layout. It unfortunately didn't help me at all, and I had to go out and buy different one that was much more helpful and had lots of more ideas.
Helps with Ideas.......2000-06-25
This book gives you ideas about showers and a very general overview of the basics of throwing a shower. I was left having to find answers to my questions elsewhere, even as a second time bridesmaid. I have found the best info on showers using web searches and Martha Stewart(as much as she can be annoying) had great, very original shower ideas and information.
Great.......1998-06-03
I am not very experienced in giving wedding showers, but this book has given me some great ideas! I am even beginning to look forward to the shower myself! I can't wait for everyone to see the exciting ideas I have gotten from this book...you know the ones I tell everyone I thought up myself!

It’s been said, and too often quoted, that the only certainties in life are death and taxes. To these can be added one more: being confused by investing. But remember that no one is born with financial knowledge. It's acquired over time.
If you’ve succeeded in accumulating some money to invest, congratulations! You’ve already accomplished a feat that the majority of people haven’t done yet. But with the increased coverage of the investment world, you may think that investing times have changed. But to a large degree, things haven’t changed all that much. Whether you have a modest or immodest economic means, this easy-to-use guide can help you understand how to increase your wealth by
- Living within your means and systematically saving and investing money, ideally in a tax-favored manner.
- Buying and holding stocks, ide ally through the best mutual funds.
- Building your own small business or career.
- Investing in real estate.
Equally, if not more, important is understanding and choosing investments compatible with your personal and financial goals. Nearly every professional athlete, movie star, or business big shot that gets on the evening news by making an investment blunder and losing considerable money could have – and should have – avoided the error. With Investing For Dummies, 3rd Edition, you'll discover how to do just that. You'll also
- Cut through the jargon and get to the heart of what investments are.
- Figure out what rate of return you can expect and how much risk you should take to get it.

Customer Reviews:
Buyer beware.......2007-08-31
Tyson's not just financially conservative, but lets his personal and political bias slip in at times when it's not appropriate. He decries the entire Social Security system, indulges in the favorite right-wing hobby of bashing the New York Times's journalistic credibility (everyone else who makes incorrect predictions is simply honestly mistaken, but the NYT is an evil liberal machine, apparently), and urges parents NOT to pay for Junior's college education because "kids don't appreciate it."
As it's a "Dummies" book, there are many sections that just scratch the surface. None of it is really explained satisfactorily, and Tyson's poor narrative skills don't help. At one point he references the "facts you bring to bare [sic]" on your financial situation. Investing for the Nude would be a catchy title indeed.
Money management.......2007-06-15
Second time around. I bought one of the first editions of this book back in 1997 or 1998. The 4 th edition is a little more up to date as far as the mutual funds/bond funds. This is the best book out there for someone who is about to be in charge of there financies(ie. graduating from school or getting married). If you can discipline your spending this will help you accumalate assets.
A great primer for Investing newbies!.......2007-04-28
Like many of the Dummies books, Investing for Dummies really provides a great overview into the market, and various securities. A great starting book for people interested in expanding their knowledge of how the market works. I highly recommend, especially paired with the Wall Street Journals Guide to Understanding Money and Investing...
A True Textbook.......2007-04-19
I received the book at the library. I have never read a "Dummie" book. I certainly obtained a real education. I have been an investor for many years but in todays world there are so many new "Words" and jargon I thought it would be a good read. As I progressed I realized the book was older and ordered a up to date from Amazon. I will always use it for reference and will read it again as I have this one. I would suggest anyone wanting to understand how to purchase stock and operate in the market read this book. You will understand a lot when you do.

Investing Online for Dummies, 5th edition.......2007-01-10
The delivery was on time. The book is good for me
You don't have to buy this. .......2007-01-03
I came here to write a review for this book, and found that a reviewer below, "A reader", had already written what I was going to write. This book provides a reader with no information, but with long lists of websites to look at. You can access those websites most often just wasting time (like "A reader" already said). Using search engines like Google/Yahoo is much better than thumbing through this book.
Good Concise Overview to Get One Started.......2005-05-15
You can't watch television these days without getting bombarded with ads for on line brokerage companies. What's been missing has been a centralized source for information about the whole thing. This book provides that source. It's not complete - if it were it would be so big that you couldn't carry it around - but it's a great start.
You can read this book from cover to cover in just a few hours. That is, just a few hours if you don't take the time to go out on the web looking at the things she suggests. And that right there is the key to this book. Here is a good start that covers the whole field from A to Z, and at nearly each and every point along the way she points you to web sites for more information about specific points.
The problem with going to the web for more information, of course, is that web sites appear, go away, merge or whatever. She admits this, but accepts this risk and gives you multiple sites (you couldn't possibly visit all that she mentions) or suggests ways to find a missing or dead site.
This is a great way to get the basic information you need before getting started with selecting a broker and deciding what to buy.
Get Up To Speed With New Strategies, Tools and Resources.......2005-04-07
This newest edition of "Investing Online for Dummies" reflects the latest changes and improvements to online investing Web sites. Addresses building an online information system, setting up a basic investment strategy, determining how much to invest, selecting an online broker and trading online, finding the right investments, performing Internet transactions securely, saving on commissions, managing a portfolio, and much more.
A great guide for online investing .......2005-03-22
As I surf the Web, I often feel that it's like visiting a library where all the books have been spilled on the floor. The information is there but I don't know where to begin my search. "Investing Online For Dummies" explained how to get started, steered me to free or low cost online services, pointed out the important parts of Web sites, and showed me the process of online investing.
