Book Description
Christmas conjures warm memories of happy times. What better way to bring that joy into every Yuletide season than these two themed books? Poems And Carols includes a collection of favorite songs, from "Deck The Halls" to "Joy To The World," and poems that range from Lewis Carroll's "Christmas Greeting From A Fairy To A Child" to W.H. Auden's "Well, so that is that." Stories and Recipes serves up delightful tales and wonderful goodies. Recipes such as Swedish Gingerbread Cookies and stories like The Gift Of The Magi make this book a holiday delight.

Little Charmer.......2001-12-08
This charming little volume is only 5 1/4' x 5 1/4" and would certainly fit into a stocking but I suggest you make a treat of it before Christmas. It is illustrated with vintage Victorian images filled with the innocence and magic of Christmas. It contains two Christmas stories from The Bible, the chapter from "The Birds' Christmas Carol" where baby Carol gets her name, a chapter from "Little Women", the famous "Yes, Virginia There Is a Santa Claus" letter, some Charles Dickens Christmas NOT from "A Christmas Carol", Eleanor Roosevelt's memory of Christmas, and Hans Christian Andersen's "The Last Dream of the Old Oak Tree". Best of all is an excerpt from O. Henry's "Gift of the Magi." The excerpts will hopefully whet your appetite for the complete versions of the stories. The scope of this tiny book is just to "taste" a sample.
The recipes are DELISH! The Egg Nog and the Crispy Gingerbread Cookies are especially fine. My favorite is Red and White Peppermint Cake. There are so many good things packed in this little book that it must have a bit of the same magic that Santa's toy-sack has!

Book Description
A chronicle of the worst years of our lives as seen through the eyes of cartoonist Tom Tomorrow.
For years, Tom Tomorrow's acerbic and hilarious political cartoon, This Modern World, has been among the most recognizable and widely read in alternative press. In his first full-color compilation, Tom looks unflinchingly at what America has become in the years since 9/11 - and where it is likely headed. His cartoons give us a way to laugh instead of cry was we head toward Hell in a Handbasket. This anthology of more than 140 cartoons provides a starkly revealing snapshot of America's political culture at the dawn of the twenty-first century.
Customer Reviews:
Hell in a Handbasket is another good'un.......2007-10-03
Tom Tomorrow has done a fantastic job of putting humor into a political situation that one would think impossible to find humor in. "Hell in a Handbasket" is a further example of Mr. Tomorrow's ability to mix biting political satire with the funny bone. He can cut through much of the non-sense that is allowed to float around out there and make that hypocrisy painfully evident. God, I hope he gets some joy out of his own writing and cartooning, because I would very much hate for him to disappear from the shelves. Buy this book if you are leftie, just to keep the insanity away. Buy this book if you are a winger, just to cure yourself of the insanity.
A MUST read!!.......2007-09-20
This book is a must read for all the Limbaugh-listening, neocon, Bush-backers out there! Every page is filled with poignant scenes of the Bush administration. The real humor lies in the irony involved--the jokes are so "tragically true" that they make you snicker, rather than laugh. My fellow Bush-BASHERS will agree...the book is a capsulized summary of the darkest period in American politics. Hope you learned your lesson--next time, vote for Democrats!
Sometimes it gets so bad all you can do is laugh.......2007-05-19
Kudos to Tom Tomorrow for a very funny chronicle of Life During Bush. I've never been a fan of his penguin character, but the hilarious drawings of the 1950s types that reflexively support Bush and the monsterous GOP agenda is worth the price of purchase.
Whenever events and outrageous revelations of torture, incompetence, cronyism, lies, illegalities and arrogance surface about the Bush administration (seems like it's two or three times a week lately), I often browse though Tom Tomorrow to soothe the outrage with some laughter. Sometimes it's all you can do.
Hell in a Handbasket.......2007-01-09
essential reading for the open thinker.
cartoons are like folk music, non-frontal assault on attitudes.
people, this the "commons", support this guy or he'll do something less useful!

Ann Coulter says it has no humor at all.......2007-01-04
That was all I needed to hear! This guy is really funny AND smart - search google for Tom Tomorrow and you can find a large sample of his work on the Internet, Oops, I mean Internets.

Customer Reviews:
thanks for the laughs.......2007-08-25
I sent several of the car talk cds over the last few months to an uncle who was dying from cancer. My aunt said he loved them and kept him entertained thru a difficult time. Priceless.
good laughs.......2007-01-05
I thought this cd was excellent. I (a foreigner) was able to understand all of it and I have listened it so many times that I'm starting to know it by heart. I still laugh each time I listen to it.
...And They're Both Losing Market Share!.......2007-01-01
Whatever happened to American Motors Corporation?
I guess you either love these guys or you hate them. My wife finds them incredibly annoying when she hears them on the radio.
Myself, I love them. Their accents are not off-putting to me, and I love how they laugh together.
What I've learned over time, though, is that the 'straight' answers they provide are actually pretty authoritative. They actually know what they're talking about, based not only on their extensive formal education but also based on their hands-on work with many, many cars.
If I personally found anything annoying, it's only their constant self-referencing which gets old. However, it's a part of their "shtick" which we would not want to do without...
So who's from Toyota??

Stick with the Car Advice!.......2007-01-01

This book distills this expertise into important, relevant items you need to know. Buy it and keep it in the car - you'll be glad!
Diagnostic advice mixed with humor.......2001-01-15
Click and Clack diagnosed my intermittant start-up problem in about 2 minutes, via this book.
As a result, I could talk to my mechanic more intelligently, and I knew what I was in for before I called the shop. I don't fix cars myself, but this book enabled me to be in charge of the process.
You get a great diagnostic tool, and some cheesy (but still funny) humor, all for under $15. Not a bad deal.
A Disappointing Read.......2000-09-29
This book could be half as long as it is if all the failed attempts at being funny were removed. The authors seem more concerned with trying to amuse their readers than with providing them with helpful information. While some good information exists within the book, it's buried among lame attempts at humor. I found myself being annoyed over and over again by these unfunny intrusions.
If you're looking for a lot of helpful, well-organized information on car care, I'd look elsewhere (e.g., "Lucille's Car Care", by Lucille Treganowan, which I highly recommend). And to the authors I'd say, "Either be stand up comics or authors of helpful car books, but don't try to be both!" (because you're failing miserably at it!)
Laughed hard enough that I shouldn't have been driving!.......1999-05-07
Great stories of the guys vs gals and a wonderful throw in on a college students response to a candidate college! My only complaint would be that the tape was too short only about an hour of entertainment, but a great hour!!!And if you need a good mechanic in Boston this tape has the perfect guy for you - really!!
This book should be given out along with driver's licenses.......1999-03-31
I wish I had this book ten years ago. The best $10 you can spend on your car. You should have this book if you have a new car, if you only drive your parents' car, if you have never owned a car and are about to buy one, or like me, if your car has been trouble-free and is now starting to act up. It's useful, it makes complete sense, and is very funny too. I plowed through it in about two hours. And if you think you don't know anything about cars, wait until you read what some other people have done...

Dated and slanted, but the best yet available.......2005-10-05
Roy Armes is a well-known name in film studies, and this book fills a much-needed void. Though "Third World Film Making and the West" was published in 1987, and is thus almost two decades old at this point, it is still the best available introduction to Third World (hereafter TW) cinema--with the caveat that the text spends as much if not more time passing judgment on the socio-economics and politics of filmmaking as it does charting the history of TW cinematic production per se. And since Armes' perspective is thoroughly Marxist, expect the de rigueur bashing of First World nations, along with the ideology and jargon characteristic of such a view.
The text is divided into four parts: the first situates Third World (hereafter TW) social and economic challenges against the horizon of colonialism, post-colonialism and capitalism, with some Third World art and film history thrown in for good measure--mostly towards the end of Part One; Part Two, entitled "The Theory and Practice of TW Filmmaking" finally begins to broach sustantial discussions of individual films and filmmakers; Part Three addresses TW filmmaking geographically, moving from India and Asia to Latin America, the Middle East and Africa; and the last part, "Cinema Astride Two Cultures," addresses six of the more important individual filmmakers (like Satyajit Ray, Yousseff Chahine, etc.) roughly representative of the geographical divisions articulated in Part Three.
The book provides a wealth of fascinating information, some well-known to film scholars and some not so--in fact, though the bibliography is impressive, I expected and would have appreciated much more robust and frequent references and citations for the plethora of details Armes provides.
In short, if you can handle the tone and navigate your way through the ideological landscape, this is the most knowledgable and comprehensive introduction to Third World filmmaking yet available.
The.......2001-02-12
I had to read this book as a part of a film history class in school. To be honest, I wouldn't have read this at all beacuse of the my lack of interest in the subject, but had to because of a paper i had to write on the topic. The best thing about the book is that it explores a completely different world of filmmaking. It is very detailed and is a good resource on the topic of 3rd world filmmaking. This is a good resource for academic purpopes and if u dig foreign films u should check it out as this is as foreign as it gets.

Should be 6 stars.......2005-12-20
Our family never took a road trip without this collection (back then it was on cassettes.) No one complained about long drives to grandma's because we all loved these hysterical skits and songs. My 4 children can now recite them all by heart and laugh all over again each time! I'm now getting them on CD for each of my kids so they can continue the tradition with their children. I was going to mention a favorite sketch but there are too many.

Every little girl's dream come true.......2005-08-02
Fairy Fun provides all the information and material you need to provide an enchanted fairy wonderland for your child. Every little girl loves to dress up and wave that magic wand. From magic spells to fairy gardens, you and the little ones in your life can create and experience the magical, mystical realm of the wee folk.
Maginary the Fairy.......2002-08-16
Based on previous reviews, I expected a lot more ideas from this book. In planning a birthday party for my 6-year-old daughter, I had hoped to find more practical crafts and games for children. I was dissappointed that few of the ideas were original-- many of them I already had. I mean, come on, I thought the page dedicated to making fairy invitations could be more creative than: Get a paper, fold it in half, write the party information on the inside and outside, glue sparkly things to the invitation, address and stamp the envelope, put the invitation inside, and mail it. I may adapt a couple of the crafts for our party, but the flower fairy dolls are too difficult for children to make themselves, and I think many of the crafts and games I already have will be more fun. If you are experienced with throwing good theme parties, you probably don't need this book. If you need ideas and don't have many of your own, this book will get you started.
Great! Lots of fun!.......2000-06-14
I love this book! My friends and I have had lots of fun with it! What other book would inspire you to build a fairy house in the school garden? I really recomend this book to any fairy lover!
Fabulous activity book for children and parents!.......1999-02-02
If you or your child is fascinated by fairies and loves to create props for imaginary play, this is the book for your family! My five year old daughter has used this book almost every day since receiving it last month. Most of the projects she has picked have needed some guidance or hands-on help from an adult, but she can participate fully in their completion. My nine year old would be able to do most of the projects independently. We've made fairy dust, and hand sewn bags to carry it. The stick puppets and fairy treasure box are used almost daily. My daughter is busily planning her next birthday party entirely from the pages of this book! My favorite feature is that while the directions are thorough and can be followed by older children, they leave plenty of room for individual creativity. Your fairy lover can take the authors' suggestions and easily adapt each project to her own style!

Customer Reviews:
Great help for the new user........2005-09-22
I purchased several copies of the book for my sales team whose technical proficiency was across the board. While all of the material is covered in the online help available from Salesforce.com, several team members felt much more comfortable with a book that they could hold. It is a great help in getting all of the team members to use the same nomenclature which is the first step in any sales "methodology" becoming effective.
Those wishing a deeper dive, should look at the author's other books targeted towards a more advanced and technical audience.
Dumming it down for an admitted dummy.......2005-02-07
As a new user to the CRM program, Salesforce.com, I was overwhelmed by the amount of information presented on the website. My first thought was, "I wish somebody would writed a "Dummy" book for the program. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it was being released and ordered my copy immediately. I received my copy shortly and began reading and applying the data presented in the book.
While I will continue to avail myself of the training presented on the Salesforce.com site, the presentation of the data in Salesforce.com for Dummies has given my use of the program a real kick-start.
The writer (Mr. Wong), has written this book for users of the program, not for computer programmers. The data is laid out in concise, easy-to-understand terms which even "sales-types" like myself can understand. Applying the suggestions in the chapter on customization has saved me hours of "hair-pulling" work.
I will continue to reference this book and will make it required reading for all those in my company using Salesforce.com. It makes a great CRM program even better, because we will now be able to use all of the features, rather than a few basic one.
You'd be a dummy not to buy this book!.......2005-02-06
"Salesforce.com for Dummies" is, hands down, the best reference guide for salesforce.com users and administrators alike. Tom Wong has done an excellent job with this book. It is packed with useful tips that will help even the most experienced users and/or administrators get more from Salesforce.com. If you are ready to maximize your investment in Salesforce.com, pick up "Salesforce.com for Dummies." You'd be a dummy not to buy this book!
Best salesforce.com Reference Material Available!!!.......2005-02-06
Tom Wong's book "Salesforce.com For Dummies" provides a fantastic overview of salesforce.com, whether you are an end user or a system administrator. The book clearly outlines the functionality of the product and it includes a great deal of information that will help users leverage the full power of salesforce.com. Salesforce.com users of all experience levels will find relevant information in this book. I have been using salesforce.com for more than three years, and I found several helpful tips that are going to allow me to use salesforce.com more productively in the future.
My company has been using salesforce.com since October 2001, and we use it throughout several functional areas of the company (e.g. Sales, Customer Service, Product Management, Project Management, Executive Management, etc..) I have requested that our Human Resources department make "Salesforce.com For Dummies" available to all current users as an ongoing reference material and to all future users as part of their orientation and training.
I would strongly recommend "Salesforce.com For Dummies" to anyone who uses salesforce.com on a regular basis. In my opinion, this is the best reference material available for salesforce.com.
Drivers, Start Your Engines!!.......2005-02-05
As a salesforce.com system adminstrator, I found this book to be invaluable. As intuitive as the system is, the topics covered are on point to the needs of users, managers and administrators alike. I found that tasks I learned to do in 15 minutes using the online help features included with the salesforce.com tool, can be done and learned in less than 2 minutes following the clear and concise instructions.
Throughout the book are examples of how customers use the tool as well as best practices and are a terrific addition to this handy guide.
With this book, I was not only ready to roll on with salesforce.com, but to accelerate quickly to leverage the tool to my sales team and across the enterprise.
