Book Description
While both the Republic and the Separatists have suffered staggering losses during the Clone Wars, nothing could have prepared them for the battle they face on the desert world of Saleucami. Beneath the surface of this Outer Rim planet, the Dark Jedi Sora Bulq has begun cloning an army of Morgukai assassins. Unwilling to leave this grave new threat unchecked, the Jedi and their armies soon find themselves entrenched in a five-month siege. Now, time and resources have run out, and it's up to a crack team of Jedi, led by Quinlan Vos and Aayla Secura, to infiltrate the Separatist base.
Customer Reviews:
Vos' Conflict.......2007-06-09
This volume concludes Quinlan Vos' "undercover" mission. If you have missed a few volumes you definitely do not want to read this one before you finish the others. I thought this was an incredible story and I was surprised by the events more than I expected. I don't really want to spoil the story because if you've been following the series this has some big ones.
Excellent magazine!.......2007-05-14
You should have this collection, it is very good, great drawings, great comic magazine!
Solid Story.......2006-07-04
I was starting to wonder if they were ever going to wrap up Voss' story. I found it very compelling and great continuity. I was waiting for the payoff on the Vos story line. I also like how it leaves the future open for more of his story. The story arc ended nicely. I would recommend this especially at the low price of Amazon. Worth the read!
Clone Wars Vol. 8.......2006-06-04
To pewface this review, the Vos story line has intrested me, but never really captured me. I liked the idea of having a Jedi who was so close to the dark side, that he was endangered to losing it all. And Vos is a perect example. In previous Volumes it has never been clear where he stood, and this volume resolves it. I was always more intrested in Obi Wan and Anakin, but the conclusion of Vos was a good one.
However the general flow was not quite as well done as in previous volumes. This had a slow begining, and then picked up. In previous volumes the begining grabbed me and kept me tuned in for the rest of the volume. Tholme was a great charcter in my eyes. They did a excellent job with the Master and Appertence in this volume.
There where somethings that seemed a bit off for me though. Certain Charcters were intorduced that I didnt feel I got a chance to know. The two largest would be Akku Sell and Bok. Akku was totaly new, and I didnt get to know hom. Bok would seem to be an older Ccharcter, but I don't remember him in the previous volumes, so eitehr I missed him before, or he was in another storyline outside of the Clone Wars.
Either way it was a good volume. 4/5 Stars
An answer for N. Wells..........2006-04-16
N. Wells at the end of his review said "I hear there is a 9th volume coming out, not sure how much more there is to tell in this series though."
The 9th and final volume of the CLONE WARS series of the STAR WARS REPUBLIC comic line will be called ENDGAME, and it means basically what you think it might. It includes the last 5 issues of the REPUBLIC line plus one stand-alone issue. The action takes place during and after EP. III Revenge of the Sith. Strangely, the first two-part story takes place shortly after ROTS as the remaining surviving Jedi deal with the aftermath of Executive Order 66. The second 3-part story takes place during the Battle of Kashyyk in ROTS and deals with Vos' final conflict at which time Order 66 came down. And the final stand-alone issue called PURGE is what you think it means as Darth Vader hunts down the remaining Jedi, thus setting in the darkness that follows the rise of the Empire.
This last issue, well, the last of the 3-parter about Kashyyk was designed by George Lucas himself, so that which sets up the forth-coming live-action TV series. So characters that survive that story are sure to be found in the TV series.
Book Description
Step into the wacky world of womanless wedding fund-raisers, in which Bubbas wear boas. Meet two sisters who fight rural boredom by washing Budweiser cans and cutting them to pieces to make clothing. Learn why the word snow sends any right-thinking Southerner careening to the Food Lion for extra loaves of bread and little else. Humor columnist and slightly crazed belle-by-birth Celia Rivenbark tackles these and other lard-laden subjects in Bless Your Heart, Tramp, a no-holds-barred look at all things sassy, sensational, and southern.
Customer Reviews:
Great southern humor.......2007-09-01
I bought this book as a gift for a friend my age. After I had received the book myself as a gift, I knew she could relate to many of the stories in the book and would enjoy as much as I. It is typical of life in the south for people of middle age. Most enjoyable!
Southern or not, every woman should read this book!.......2007-08-27
This is another fun romp with Celia Rivenbank, the Southern belle of belly laughs. Quick and fun summer read!
It's entertaining..........2007-07-06
I have a lot of free time as a receptionist at a car dealership, so I slowly read each short story and found it just entertaining enough to keep me reading. Mama Celia's many unexpected, blunt comments will have you laughing out loud, but while some of the short stories are a little boring I would recommend it if you ran out of other books to read.
Rikki- Memphis, TN
You gotta love Celia!.......2007-06-27
If you are from "The South" you will nod as you laugh until tears dilute your bowl of grits while you read this classic. If you are not from "The South" (bless your heart) you will still be captivated by Celia's hilarious view of life south of the Mason-Dixon Line. Everyone will love this one.
Mama Celia Tells It Straight.......2007-03-11
This is the second of her books that I have read and loved both! She nails our "southernisms" on the head. If you are from the South, have lived in the South, or know someone who has you'll love this. She talks of all things southern with the beauty and sharpness of a Cherokee Rose.

Nashville: Pilgrims of Guitar Town
Robert Hicks
Manufacturer: Stewart, Tabori and Chang
ProductGroup: Book
Binding: Hardcover
ASIN: 1556709897 |
Book Description
Has any American city so evoked a singular image as Nashville? The steel-and-glass towers of Music Row, the down 'n' dirty honky tonks that fill The District, the hallowed red brick walls of Ryman's Auditorium. And yet, as any true Nashvillian knows, all that glitters is not rhinestone.
In Nashville: The Pilgrims of Guitar Town, photographer Michel Arnaud and writer Robert Hicks wander beyond the Grand Ole Opry to a place filled with high hopes, hard work, and, more than anything else, guitars. Likening the city to "Hollywood in the 1920s," Hicks-the consummate insider-introduced Arnaud-the wide-eyed observer-to residents famous and infamous, from struggling pickers still waiting to be discovered to local legends who bask in the spotlight. One way or another, they've all been seduced by the promise of Music City, USA.
Hicks names Nashville "the Mecca of dreamers." His opening essay and selected profiles introduce readers to the congregation that calls the city home. Like pilgrims trekking to a shrine, the subjects of Arnaud's portraits have packed their prayers into a guitar case and pointed their thumbs toward, as the truckers call it, Guitar Town. Established stars Dolly Parton and Alan Jackson, fresh faces Nate Berret and Gretta Gains, surprising arrivals Peter Frampton and Bela Fleck-Michel Arnaud's gallery of musicians runs the gamut from bluegrass legends to alternative rockers. Some have seen their wishes come true, some never will, but this wonderful collection of captivating images proves that the journey itself is its own destination.

Nashville Photo Album.......2000-10-23
High marks for Michel Arnaud's photographic tour of Nashville. It seems to me that his (mostly) black and white portraits capture the essence of a generation - that host of Country and Western aspirants who flocked to Opreyville like the budding movie stars flocking to Hollywood. A few succeeded; many failed. There is less pulchritude in Michel Arnaud's book than if he had chosen to point his camera around Los Angeles, but many more characterful faces. He is a portraitist of the enthusiast, evoking the drink-fuelled abandon of the busking has-beens; the relaxed humanity of the established old-timers; the bounce of the new populists. They all come across as natural and relaxed: Alan Jackson lounging in split jeans on one of the floats of his private seaplane; Ray Wylie Hubbard peering cheerfully at the camera through steel-rimmed specs; wiry Chet Atkins, absorbed in tuning his guitar. The Roots win hands down for me, but there is something for everyone in this evocative album, which shows the Nashville that still retains its vitality underneath the publicised image.

A Visual Ballad of Dreams.......2000-10-22
At first glance I thought this book was going to be just another "picture" book about famous country stars; I was happily and totally mistaken. While Arnaud and Hicks have captured some beautiful images and descriptions of the Nashville scene's legendary greats, the unique quality of this book is the fact that it also depicts the "stars" of Nashville whose lights have yet to shine, or whose lights may never shine. I found this book to be a wonderful tribute, not necessarily to those who have "made it," but more to the "pilgrimage" of those brave souls who journey to Nashville seeking to "make it" in the music business.
Although I am not a big fan of country music, nor am I musically inclined, as I gazed at the faces in this book, some recognizable, but many not, I felt a connection with them. That connection being the subject of hope and dreams.
The common thread among the people photographed in this book is not only their journey to Nashville, but their hopes and dreams of acquiring success in the music business. Arnaud and Hicks have incredibly captured the visual and written theme of this pursuit of success. I applaud Arnaud and Hicks for not just honoring and capitalizing on the images of those who have "made it," but for honoring the image of the journey and those "pilgrims" still on its path in Nashville.

Customer Reviews:
Sometimes, quality is important.......2006-03-19
Okay, so maybe you just want to get a random result and focus on story. But you know what? There are two sides to playing a table-top game (vs. a computer game, for instance).
One is the social exprience, playing with people whose company, hopefully, you enjoy.
Second is the quality of the components. For example, would you rather play chess with hand-carved wooden Staunton pieces that are weighed, with felted bottoms, on an inlaid wooden board? Or will you go for the cheap hollow plastic pieces and lay them down on a piece of cardboard?
These dice are so cheap that for me they detract completely from the game experience. It takes me back to the days when the numbers on the dice weren't even inked in and you had to rub a crayon over them just to see the numbers. I thought we were past that.
Do yourself a favor and turn off your computer and start looking through the yellow pages for a local hobby shop. You won't be sorry. If there is none available, then make some friends online. Roleplayers are a generally friendly and helpful lot, and I have no doubt you'll find someone to help out if you start participating in an online RPG-related discussion forum.
Again, avoid these dice except as a desperate last resort.
Useful But Could've Been Better!.......2003-07-13
The basic tools were given. Basically the dice. However, it seems like Wizard's of the Coast would have provided a more in depth explanation for new comer's to the d20 system to make it more user friendly. Like d20 For Dummies.
Fast to Get.......2003-01-09
I don't live in the USA, so getting some dice is very hard, especially when my friends are thinking on getting themselves some. So i told them to get this box that is cheap compared to the price of the trip to the nearest gaming store, and they are available in the bookstore around the corner. Yea, you may complain about the expensive, but some people don't have the time to go looking fo the final gaming store/website where to find the good products, they just want to start playing. That is what this set is all about.
For the Desperate Only.......2002-08-02
The sole advatage of buying these dice is that they are sold at your local chain bookstore. The instructions are obtuse and redundant, and the dice are cheap, small, and only one of each type is provided. Advice: take your ~[$$] to a hobby store and pick out your own dice or failing that buy for [$$] the D&D introduction game that includes the same identical dice, and get a few goodies as well.
As a note it sickens me when for the price they charge for cheap, [discount chain store] quality dice they couldn't throw in another set, or at the bare minimum include the 10-00 10 sided die as a complement to the 10 sided dice that comes with the 'System dice.'
Worth it?.......2002-03-18
I would have to say that if you were going to get a dice set there are many different places online that sell products like the "Pound-O-Dice" that will have all the die you need to play this and many other games. THere are more die that would be usefull that don't come in this set either, such as the D3. It is used within the D&D games and other for that matter. To be Honest I have got this set and find that it is sadley lacking on the rules side and I found myself buying the comple DMG, PHB and Monstrous Manual before my second setion of AD&D. So just a point get the core rule books and a good LARGE set of dice if you are really interested in playing, and if your not sure find a group to try it out with first.
Book Description
The landmark book that defines successful product development-revised, updated, and expanded for the next generation of product leaders.
For over a decade, Winning at New Products has served as the bible for product developers everywhere. In this fully updated and expanded edition, Robert Cooper demonstrates with compelling evidence why consistent product development is so vital to corporate growth and how to maximize your chances of success. By any measure, most product concepts never make it to market, and of those that do, most fail. Winning at New Products cites the most recent research and showcases innovative practices at such industry leaders as 3M, Exxon Chemical, and Guinness to present a field-tested game plan for achieving product leadership. Cooper outlines specific strategies for assessing risk, marshalling the appropriate resources, engaging customers in the pre-development discovery phase, evaluating your project portfolio, ensuring true cross-functional collaboration, and, most importantly, applying a rigorous process for making sound business decisions at every step-from idea generation to launch.
Customer Reviews:
Excellent Book backed by Invaluable Research.......2007-02-19
The book introduces the Stage-Gate process by its author. The Stage-Gate is a process for disciplined innovation used to move ideas to commercial products. The process basically divides the new product process into five main stages: Scoping, Building Business Case, Development, Testing and Validation, and Launch. Before each Stage there is a Gate that opens the door for more investment and commitment. The process seems common sense at first but the research and studies behind it flesh it out with invaluable tips and checklists that build your confidence to adopt them in your own domain. The book is full of diagrams, tables and charts that help you understand important studies and concepts.
On the downside, I found little details on the Gates, the focus is primarily on the Stages. I also think the book is little bit lengthy for the amount of wisdom embedded, I found many of the concepts repeated throughout, some might consider this a plus as it helps emphasizing the concepts. I also think that some of the the studies should have been moved to an appendix to make the reading flow smoother. . Finally, the book could have been structured differently; for example, chapter 12 (Product Innovation and Technology Strategy) and chapter 8 (Portfolio Management) could have been (at least partially) moved earlier in the book.
Overall, I think the book is a great value, I found it useful as my first product management reading, it is easy to read and follow. The book is a recommended reading by the Product Management Association.
1 for some readers, 5 for others depending on your style............2006-07-06
The author is obviously a big believer in the "tell the reader what you are going to teach them, tell them in more detail and then tell them what you've told them".
If you are a numbers and figures person that wants to see proof and likes the same information reiterated, then you will love this book. It references many studies and uses a lot of graphs to support their theories.
If, on the other hand, you a big-picture person and you prefer information in a story format then this book is going to be a long, tedious book to read and you will likely start skimming very early in the book.
Winning at New Products.......2006-07-05
This book turned out to be not unlike most other books out there on the subject of New Product Development. I guess I was looking for something different, something more Power Point in Style, even if it were in black and white. I took it with me to the mountains to read on a three day vacation, but it was a struggle to get through it. My background is Industrial Design and I am always interested in books like this. It just was not my cup of tea.
Very practical and readable book.......2006-03-24
Its a book for practitioners. Very well written and really easy to read.
If you are serious about product development, you can't really miss this book.
Have fun !!
Great Process for New Product Development.......2006-02-17
Dr. Cooper has provided an excellent and easy to understand process for guiding organizations from ideation to launch of successful new products. Although many of the steps are intuitive, the framework suggests that if the checklist for each of the five gates is followed, an organization can fill that it has done its homework and can proceed confidently in making go-no go decisions. I am using this text in my graduates school courses at Mercy College and in lectures for student seminars organized by the Direct Marketing Association. A great read for everyone in new product development roles.
