Description:
Information technology, especially the Internet, has transformed the modern business environment. China's hotel industry has not been exempted from this trend. Despite the growing body of literature dealing with online consumer behavior, previous research has focused on Western customers and cultures rather than upon China, the world's largest emerging tourism market. The purposes of this study are to identify the determinants affecting Chinese hotel customers' online reservation intentions and to assess their satisfaction with online hotel reservation. Participants in the study were Chinese hotel customers staying at 12 sampled hotels in Beijing, PR China in March 2003. The results indicate that Chinese hotel customers are less likely to rely on hotel branding and price benefits and more likely to rely on client information needs and online security as they become more experienced Internet users.

Customer Reviews:
A good manga spoiled by the ending.......2007-09-16
This manga began as a cute, fluffy tale with spots of humor now and then and a truly endearing character in Night, the robot who falls in love...but then I read the ending online. BEWARE! It'll break your heart, and not in a good way. Don't get sucked in, don't waste your money. Yuu Watase blew it with this one.
Wonderful manga.......2007-09-12
This is one of my all time favorite mangas. It's a comedy/romance, but it still keeps you on your toes. It's an adorable love story but at times it's very funny. Yuu Watase is an extremely witty and talented artist, and I'd recommend this series to anyone (over the age of 16, further along in the series there's nudity and some mature themes).
Absolute boyfriend is absolutely cliché.......2007-08-22
I must admit that the idea for the story is somewhat original but the characters are really boring and the story is very predictable. Good thing that the art is so amazingly beautiful and some parts of the manga are very funny(only reason why I'll keep buying this)...It's the characters that I don' like ( the main girl who's a cry baby, the neighbor who's secretly in love with her, and the jealous "best friend"...) I like the android boy though(wish i could find a boyfriend like him^^...impossible I know) I seen those kinds of characters on different stories from this wonderful mangaka..maybe she run out of ideas or something but as I said before, I'll keep buying this manga because of its art.
I can't get enough!.......2007-06-04
This is one of my favorite new (to the us) manga series! I don't like to write spoilers, but what I will say is if you like romantic comedy this is an awesome series! I didn't expect the hilarity along with all the romanticism and it all works very well together thanks to Yuu Watase's great story telling. I haven't been this addicted to a series since Chobits. I have read all the current issues (Vol 1-3) and all in one sitting (it's that good!) I can't believe I have to wait until August for the next volume. Oh well. It will be worth it! Do I recommend this series? ABSOLUTELY! P.S. I do feel that children under 14 should not read this series. It has some more mature content (not hentai or porn like) but still mature.
Predictable...But It Works.......2007-02-10
"Absolute Boyfriend" is a romantic comedy from Yuu Watase, famous for defining the "pretty boy girls comic" with her hit series "Fushigi Yugi." Ah, but don't expect another epic romantic fantasy with "Absolute Boyfriend," as this comic was created to be a marketing CLAMP-style series, where the whole point of the series is to appeal to the lowest common denominator. You can tell this series is full of marketing gimmicks just by the fact that the cover features not only the secondary male character (instead of the main female protagonist), but also by the fact that the secondary character is naked on the cover. Oh, and the naked man is very pretty. Yep, this is a mass-marketing series. It doesn't help the story when people can pick out the marketing scheme before they even open the book. Eh, but sometimes people will buy the book just because the cover promises what they expect to find in their entertainment. Since I've read the series, let me point out a few basic facts about the story that you most likely already know by looking at the cover. First of all, everyone in this series is attractive but say they are ugly. This is known as the "Dawson's Creek syndrom," where people who look like they are supermodels spend a good deal of time whining about how they will never get a boyfriend/girlfriend, have no social skills, and (most hilariously) think they will never get laid.
There's no reason for these people to think this way, but we accept this method of thinking because the author buys into it, so heck, we might as well too. Then there is a love triangle between the female protagonist, nerdy lifelong male friend with glasses (who also looks pretty), and, the most amazing twist in manga history, has a naive male robot who spends most of his time naked and falls in love with our protagonist. In this case the protagonist is Riiko Izawa, who signs up for a free trial lover robot named Nightly Lover (but for the sake of our sanity, will simply be called Night from this point on). Riiko signs up to have this lover robot delivered to her because she has been rejected multiple times by various men, and feels that she will never have a boyfriend. Again, this is despite the fact that she looks drop dead gorgeous. Anyway, the robot is delivered to her house naked, awaked by a kiss from Riiko, and claims himself to be her boyfriend. Night knows nothing of the real world though, and simple things like attempting to make money and cook food turn into huge disasters that could only happen in a comic book. Now, here's the funny thing about this whole robot subplot you need to realize: Night is not the monkey wrench in the story. No sir. Many people may consider that the robot has to be the thing to throw the protagonists perfectly normal life into turmoil, but I don't think this is true.
After all, the story practically revolves around the robot in the first place. The story is specifically about a girl who orders a robot because she feels she can't get a date, and her life was pretty much wacked in the first place. Therefore, the robot CAN'T be the monkey wrench, because it was planned to be included all along. Even when Night's manufacturer comes into the story and lets Riiko know that she now has to pay for the robot, the robot doesn't feel like a monkey wrench. She likes the robot, the robot is programmed to like her, so everything is as it should be. The monkey wrench actually comes up when Riiko's childhood friend, Soshi, admits to Riiko that he has feelings for her. When Soshi admits to Riiko that he has feelings for her, they just stare at each other for a few panels, and the emotions on their face remind use why stories like this remain popular throughout the various incarnations. From reading a synopsis of the story, you can only imagine what sort of familiar water will be treaded in "Absolute Boyfriend." Yes, familiar water is treaded, and there are more then a few instances where we see a couple of predictable twists coming chapters away, but as long as the characters are likable, and as long as the characters don't act like complete morons, there is something timeless about this set-up.
Like love ballads on the radio, predictability comes with the territory. What matters is if you want to sing along with the lyrics. In the case of "Absolute Boyfriend," we find ourselves interested in the characters enough to continue the journey. Will the story drag itself into the double digit volumes? Most likely, it almost always does. Will there be misunderstandings? Oh yeah, count on it. Will the girl have to chose between one of the men? Is this even a fair question? Yes, "Absolute Boyfriend" is all these things and more. It's predictable, things happen in this series that happen in ALL romance series, and in no way will this series change your life as you know it. But I can always admire a series that can do everything the way I expect it to do and find a way to not bore me. This is a series that will result in a group of girls reading it in a group, swooning over the pretty boys and melodrama, and moving onto the next series and do the same thing. In this sense, "Absolute Boyfriend" may not seem like a winning title because it doesn't challenge the reader to think more, and it does more pandering then anything. However, pandering isn't bad when it's done with taste, and I believe that "Absolute Boyfriend" has enough taste to make it worth checking out. All I ask is that if all these lover toys ship naked, how do people window-shop for one? Just a thought.

See any movie with elves, mutants, wookies, or other non-human characters on opening night

High five in a business situation
Travel to attend a Phish concert
Have any furniture that involves cinder blocks
Google ex-girlfriends

Entertaining.......2007-05-11
Now I know a few things I have to do in the next year!! This tiny book is funny and witty, and a pleasure to read. If you can get it via low-priced used book sellers I do recommend it.
Enjoy,
Dave
Hilarious.......2006-06-18
Almost every guy I know over the age of 30 does 80 percent of these things! Very insightful Esquire. A lot of fun and a great gift...
(PS: To the above, If you don't get that it's a HUMOR book, maybe the lack of dairy is starting to affect your brain...)
Tragic.......2006-05-09
The first thing a man over 30 should never do: buy an offensive, elitist book telling them how they should live their own life. You've got to love the wisdom of the book. For instance, a man over 30 should never know a vegan, according to the book. Way to alienate a crowd, Esquire. Lovely.
EDIT: Oh, I understand perfectly that its a humor book. Its just not funny.

Look no further for the ultimate Star Wars toy guide. Consummate collector Stephen J. Sansweet's Action Figure Archive is a completist's bible, with full-color photos and rich details about all the Hasbro/Kenner toys released from 1978 through 1997. Even if you can't afford (or find) all the action figures, vehicles, and playsets themselves, this book is a joy to browse, with big, well-laid-out pages that are jam-packed with film stills, toy detail shots, and information on the movies and their marketing machinery. It's all here: every version of popular characters like Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader, along with more obscure, hard-to-find figures, card variants, international editions, accessory descriptions, and product mistakes. This is a crucial reference for serious collectors--and an unbelievably fun book for every Star Wars fan. --Therese Littleton

Star Wars Action Figure Archive.......2006-03-28
This book is a super resource for it has a lot of glossy pics which are highly detailed of the Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back, Returo of the Jedi and Power of the Force Action Figures as well as Star Wars Action Playsets and Spaceships. It is well worth the money and is easily divided into many sections.
I use it all the time to find Vintage Star Wars items for gifts for Star Wars collectors. I strongly recommend it if you collect Star Wars or are going to in the future. I bought my book from Amazon and also, it is a great gift for any one who loves Star Wars.
Star Wars: The Action Figure Archive Book Review by darthoz.......2005-11-02
I first purchased this book on another site in California. The book is on one island in Hawaii and I am on another island in Hawaii. So, I bought another one through Amazon. It is a wonderful source of information. I did however notice that there are some items of significant value and/or rarity that are not included. One such item is the Special Action Display that recently sold online for close to one thousand dollars. Perhaps the author of the book did not have the informamtion available at the time of publication.
The first Star Wars Vintage Mailaway Display 1979
The Star Wars Action Display Stand was first offered through a coupon redemption included with the first four (4) Early Bird Kit Action Figures:
Luke Skywalker with Yellow Telescoping Lightsaber (very rare)
Princess Leia Organa with White Vinyl Cape & Laser Pistol
Chewbacca with Green Crossbow
R2-D2
The second time that it was offered on the back of Star Wars Action Figure Cardbacks. The offer stated:
Star Wars Action Collectors Stand
Display all 12 figures on this colorful galaxy stand. Sturdy plastic with action levers to move figures back and forth. Figures easily removeable for individual play. Send your name, address, zip code and proof-of-purchase seal (shown at right) from 2 Star Wars Action Figure packages alone with $2.00 to: Star Wars Action Collector Stand, P.O. Box 1313, One Industrial Drive, Maple Plain, MINN, 55348. Collectors Action Stand FREE with proof-or purchase from 12 STAR WARS Action Figures. Allow 8 - 10 weeks for delivery. Offer expires May, 1, 1979. Void where prohibited, taxed or otherwise regulated The third time it was offered boxed in toy departments and stores. The Stand came in a attractive box which showed all of the twelve (12) Action Figures that could be placed on it. The box that was shipped to individuals was just a plain white mailer.
The Grey Display Stand came with a slot in the back of it for the cardboard backdrop which depicted the Death Star and a Space Battle between X-Wing Fighters & Tie Fighters. A thin adhesive strip was included for the front of the stand which instructed kids where to place their first twelve (12) figures:
Stormtrooper
Jawa
Death Squad Commander
See Threepio
Darth Vader
Ben Kenobi
Sandpeople
Luke Skywalker
Chewbacca
Han Solo
Princess Leia
Artoo Deetoo
As for the promised action, each of the three (3) black levers in front turned the bases of the four (4) figures giving them at least limited movement. Each base had two (2) foot pegs to hold the Action Figures in place. I had a lot of fun putting my Stand together along with my older brother. The parts included in the box reminded us of Legos. Be sure to check out my other Reviews in regards to rare Vintage Star Wars action figures. One can still find this item either loose or still in the original box.
The Special Action Display is the one rare item which is not covered in the book much to my amazement. The Star Wars Empire Strikes Back Special Action Display had the same thin black strip that one could place on the front with the exception that there were only the names of six characters on it which were:
Luke Skywalker
Princess Leia Organa
Lando Calrissian
Boosk the Bounty Hunter
Stormtrooper
FX-7 Medical Droid
This item is very rare indeed and ranges in the $1,000.00 + range.
I have studied the book intensively and find it useful. I am a collector of Star Wars items and find the Action Figures a wonderful way of reliving my youthful days and memories of Star Wars when they first appeared in the late 1970's. I cannot post my web address here but if you do a search on darthoz, one can find me on the internet. I do believe in sharing information. Amazon is a excellent resource to find items.

The Force was with them..........2004-07-08
John Ling and Steve Sansweet have outdone themselves. Being a fan and collector of the films and memorabilia of Star Wars for over 26 years, I was impressed by the attention to detail that was paid in this book. Or, as Darth Vader would say, "Impressive...most impressive." My area of collecting lies mainly with carded figures and this book has it all. I was also wowed by the many never before seen deleted scene images from the films that are showcased throughout this book. Too bad this book isn't in print anymore, but good for me I was able to get a copy!
Great book!.......2003-03-29
The best part is that this is a REFERENCE BOOK, not a price guide. Thus, it contains tons of TIMELESS information, but no bogus or outdated prices. I recently ordered and read seven price guides and reference books dealing with vintage Star Wars figures (and numerous other collectible figures), and this is by far the best of the bunch. It shows a picture of every vintage figure from numerous angles, it shows numerous figure variations, it shows EVERY card variations for EVERY figure, and it identifies the weapons and accessories that originally came with each figure. It also shows all vintage play sets and mail in promotions (though unfortunately it does not provide quite as much information about these). It also does a nice job covering early POTF figures, and more recent figures from the mid to late 90s. And, EVERYTHING IS IN FULL COLOR ON HIGH QUALITY PAPER! If you're looking for a price guide, this is not the book for you. But, if you are looking for an outstanding reference book dealing with vintage Star Wars action figures, you will not be disappointed with this book. In fact, I actually ordered a second copy for myself in case my first one gets damaged with use!
In a word: supercool.......2002-05-07
I found this book on the discount table at my local book-a-rama and decided to take a peek.
Twenty minutes later... I was still flipping through the pages, experiencing a rush of mid-70's childhood flashbacks.
This book has page after page of crisp photographs of just about every "Star Wars" toy you can think of, plus corresponding stills from the films. The loving care and detail dedicated to archiving these toys (which are both crude and sophisticated) remind me of Chip Kidd's books about "Batman" toys, but these pictures retain the sterile, futuristic feel of a Lucasfilm by-product.
I'm no longer a huge "Star Wars" fan but throughout elementary school, I was. As I flipped through this book, so many minor characters that I'd forgotten about came back to me: IG-88, R5-D4, Bossk -- were the toys based on the characters? or were the characters created so there'd be more toys?
It doesn't matter. I'd forgotten that when Boba Fett first appeared, you had to send away to Kenner to special order him. I'd also forgotten that the "Empire Strikes Back" Tauntaun toy had a slit in its stomach so you could stuff Luke in there, just like Han Solo did. This book brought all that back to me.
If you're a lapsed "Star Wars" fan, jaded by the hype and the cheesy digital graphics of the current sequels, look around for this book and kick back when you have a lot of time on your hands. You might find huge sections of your youth buried in here, disguised as a remote-control Landspeeder.

Book Description
Far from the hushed restraint we associate with the Victorians, their world pulsated with sound. This book shows how, in more ways than one, Victorians were hearing things. The representations close listeners left of their soundscapes offered new meanings for silence, music, noise, voice, and echo that constitute an important part of the Victorian legacy to us today. In chronicling the shift from Romantic to modern configurations of sound and voice, Picker draws upon literary and scientific works to recapture the sense of aural discovery figures such as Babbage, Helmholtz, Freud, Bell, and Edison shared with the likes of Dickens, George Eliot, Tennyson, Stoker, and Conrad.

Helpful hooking hints.......2007-08-06
I found the book very clear and helpful. The pointers were excellant and she listed good sources for products. I enjoyed the assistance to try out a new form of hooking for me and it gave me the confidence to start a new project with yarn. I liked that the author described the differences and similarities in using yarn and wool strips.
utilizing yarn.......2006-11-07
Very inspirational as well as having good instuctions on how to do this technique too. I'm already spinning up the wool to try this on a rug. But one need not be a spinner to do this as there are lots of yarns on the market that can be used.
A craft anyone can learn to do!.......2003-03-29
This book has easy to read directions and Judy does a wonderful job explaining the history of hooking with yarn. The pictures in the book are beautiful and display the many rich colors and textures of the different yarns and rug hooking projects. A wonderful book for all ages.
