Graphic SF Reader.......2007-09-03
John Constantine knows that he needs to build up Swamp Thing's metaphysical and magical might, to face the trials that are to come.
He faces multiple antagonists here, including some vampires that have a quite clever way to keep out of the son, and a slightly odd werewolf.
Not Moore's best .......2006-11-04
I really like Alan Moore. Saga of the Swamp Thing Volume One is one of his best. Volume 2 "Love and Death" is also very good. But this volume was a bit of a let-down. Though many will tout the introduction to Constantine, the story starts to lose focus at this point. I will still be continuing through the Moore penned volumes of Swamp Thing, but I am not anticipating it nearly as much as I was after I finished Vol. one.
Anyone reading this review has most likely read the first two collected volumes in the series, so it seems unlikely that this review will dissuade prospective readers from continuing through these books. My three-star rating is merely intended to convey that, as a fan of the Saga of the Swamp Thing, this feels like the beginning of a downward spiral for Moore's run on this title.
Of course, Moore went on to greater heights from here...
Allen Moore is a god..........2005-04-25
In this tale, Swamp Thing begins to find out the extent of what he is (with the help of the first appearance of John Constantine). The Swamp Thing movies sucked, the Constantine movie sucked; if you want great horror fiction, look no further.
Well-deserved reputation for Greatness.......2004-09-30
The third collection of the Moore-Bissette-Totleben run on "Swamp Thing" proves to (so far, I haven't read the whole series yet) the most chilling of the run, as the Swamp Thing begins to understand the extent of his power as the Earth elemental, while encountering all manner of horrors, including the first appearance of DC-Vertigo mainstay, John Constantine.
The strength of this collection lies in the unusual approach to some pretty basic horror icons. "The Nukeface Papers" introduces an urban-legend brought to life, while at the same time raising the specter of the dumping of nuclear waste. In "Still Waters", Swamp Thing does battle with a group of vampires that have taken to living underwater, and the hellish offspring they have produced. In "The Curse", Swamp Thing encounters a werewolf with a tragic twist. And in "Southern Change", Swamp Thing must battle the poltergeists of the past, as an old plantation becomes the set of a soap opera set in the Antebellum South, and the cast become vehicles for the unresolved tragedy of slavery.
And through most of this is Constantine, his abrasive manipulation and sense of guilt fully formed (although looking more like musician Sting under Bissette and Totleben's are then later artists depict him). Constantine knows something is coming, and he knows he needs to make Swamp Thing ready for it. But, in what has become typical of the character, Constantine sees no particular reason to simply tell anyone what he's up too. Thus, the bond between Swamp Thing and Constantine is built on necessity and mistrust, which reverberates to this day.
While Moore is matchless in his ability to think outside the box, these ideas would mean nothing if not for Bissette's and Totleben's depictions. The image of a group of vampires draining on a swimmer, and then diving deeper into a city long ago submerged is chilling. The deformed Nukeface, long ago addicted to waste, and rotting from the inside out, is appropriately sobering and nauseating. Slavery, always a disturbing topic, is made more disturbing as modern people are forced into roles that are morally repugnant to them, and forced to live out the past, while corpses of long dead slaves rise from the ground. It's harder to think of a more perfect fusion of writing and art in this medium.
This represents the best comic books have to offer. Fans would be foolish not to at least give these stories a try.
Alan Moore could do no wrong..........2004-09-30
This is the third trade collecting Alan Moore's groundbreaking run on the character, and is noteable because it introduces John Constantine, who would prove integral to the remainder of Moore's run. However, if you're looking for the snarky magician that was a hallmark of Ennis, Ellis and Azzarello's run, look elsewhere. Part of this is because John is regulated to a supporting character, who really exists to introduce Swamp Thing to the various menances that he will confront along the way. The nature of good horror is to disturb us, to make us feel uncomfortable, and Moore does this in spades. If you don't believe me, check out the story in which he ties cycles of the moon to a woman's menustral cycle.

If you have a teacher this book is fine but isn't good for self learning. Would of liked captions under each sign so it could be a better reference while on your own.
Signing Naturally 2.......2006-03-23
Signing Naturally are very good textbooks for the beginner and intermediate sign language students. The demo signing is a little fast for someone that is still learning, but the speed can be slowed down if you have a DVD player with that capacity. I am a student at college learning sign by using these textbooks.These are truly a must if you're dedicated to learning sign language and something about the deaf culture.
Not the greatest book.......2005-11-18
I love the video and the exercises that go along with the video are wonderful. But the book on the other hand is poorly written. Several signs are wrong or outdated. Many signs are drawn in such a way that it could be confused with other signs. Since there are no labels marking what word the model is signing there is no way to figure out the authors intent.
GREAT!.......2005-01-03
This book is very nice. I am fluent in ASL (American Sign Language) as of now, but that goal was only reached by taking classes at a local community college. The ASL class used this book and with this book, it was so easy to learn ASL! I truly recommend this book for people who want to learn ASL and use it a lot, or for parents who wish to use it with their toddlers (this is very helpful, my mom did it with me when I was little and it helped me later on).

This book bridges eastern and western perspectives on the body to formulate a movement approach to performance that could be the basis for a Stanislavski based acting class or a performance class that is some combination of actors, dancers and performance artists. for an absolute beginner or for a seasoned gambler, this book is easy to understand and is full of useful tips. the book is written in a numbered order 1 - 1000, with the tips broken down into chapters or sections pertaining to each facet of the gaming industry. I found myself reading this book two times over trying to remember as many tips as I could. A must for any first time casino tripper!

Short, concise & useful.......2007-08-20
This short text is concise, easily read and a most useful tool. If you need to understand term sheets, the short time it will take to read and digest this volume will be well invested.
Term Sheets & Valuations is also an excellent source of reference. It gives an accurate and authoritative view of the subject to hand.
Good Content, Bad Format.......2007-03-06
Term Sheets and Valuations analyzes the finer details of VC term sheets within a framework of what are "investor favorable", "middle-of-the-road", or "company favorable" elements. While this format is helpful, the excerpts are sometimes a bit hard to follow. Not being an attorney, I found this a somewhat arduous read, especially for such a short book.
A better format would have been to include three separate term sheets properly marked up to highlight key differences. This would have required four documents: the book and three separate term sheets. Despite the increased printing costs, it would have been well worth it.
Another problem with the book is the lack of valuation information. Given the title, I would have expected extensive valuation examples. There really aren't any, sadly. This appears to have been done for extreme brevity.
The author does deserve credit for distilling a subject into a rather brief text. Given the limited population that would truly be interested in the nuances of term sheets, his attempt at this book was rather admirable.
Just what I needed.......2006-06-28
This book is a quick read and addressed the outages in my understanding of how to value companies and structure rounds of funding.
Check Out Author's DVD as Well - Negotiating Term Sheets.......2006-05-17
This was a really great resource - but even better is author's new product called Negotiating Term Sheets and Valuations in Venture Capital Deals (ISBN 1597010987). It is a 100 minute DVD that has a lot of different material in it that is critical for term sheets and valuations. It also covers specific negotiation strategies and roles and motivations for each key deal participant - which is not covered in the book.
A Must for Term Sheet Analysis and Composition.......2006-05-15
A great book for understanding term sheets and a much needed book for entrepreneurs, who really do not have many good books to choose from.
Alex provides a concise easy-to-follow explanation of the variability of term sheet design. I would recommend this book be purchased not with his other one, Deal Terms (because it is really terrible), but with what I feel is the best book for entrepreneurs written as far as the quality of content,
The Startup Company Bible for Entrepreneurs (Stathis).
This book tells it ALL, including how to understand term sheets and much more.
