The works were completed between 1934 and 1988, but the vast majority date from the "heroic" years of geometric abstraction, 1948-1966.

    This special bilingual volume explores in both English and Spanish the history and importance of the major movements that were dedicated to geometric abstraction. These movements include Concretism and Neo-Concretism in Brazil, Constructivism in Uruguay, the Madi Group and Concrete artists in Argentina, and Kinetic Abstraction and Neo-Constructivism in Venezuela. The book also offers biographies of the artists and an intriguing selection of their statements and manifestos.

    This catalogue accompanies an exhibition from the Cisneros Collection at Harvard's Fogg Art Museum from 3 March to 21 October 2001.

            This is another hilarious book in The Simpsons Library of Wisdom Collection. This book seems to have more original material in it and is less of a retread of old episodes, which is great. This laugh riot of a book is a must buy for Simpsons fans.

            Ralph Wiggum is obviously portrayed as being a "special needs" child on the Simpsons - and his appearances have declined somewhat as public sensitivity over the plight over the mentally disabled has risen. It is astonishing that the Publisher would think it appropriate to put out a book written by a non-disabled person that mocks the thoughts and need of those with mental disabilities.

            Think I'm being oversensitive? A few years ago I might have thought the same. But before you judge, walk into a Special Needs clinic, or visit a classroom full of children that are struggling with disorders of various kinds. There's nothing funny to be found there. Not. One. Thing.

            This book - which lets face it, makes fun of a mentally disabled kid's view on life - isn't funny when you think about the premise. When you really think about it, you realize its absolutely shameful.

            These kids - and the adults they grow up to be - can rarely defend themselves from this kind of mockery. How can it be appropriate to make fun of them?

            Ralph is my favorite of the minor characters that appear on "The Simpsons". This book is absolutely hilarious. It really captures the essence of Ralph and his happy-go-lucky, slightly clueless manner of meandering through life.

            It's a short book, but it's extremely entertaining and I would definitely recommend it if you like Ralph Wiggum or the Simpsons.

              In "Don't Squat With Yer Spurs On! II," Texas Bix Bender continues his cowboy wisdom.

              Linda Bark'karie once more does the illustrations superbly, and this time receives title-page credit.

              The pages may seem a bit bare because of omission of the double-line page borders and the upper right corner flip images.

              However, the illustrations, sayings, and fun continue.

              "If your job is to shovel, and all you can see ahead is dirt, it's time to change jobs."

              "A good pard will ride with you till hell freezes over -- and a little while on the ice."

              "When you can't find somethin', either it's lost or you are."

              "Things have a way of workin' out if you just keep your head."

              If I am correct, L. Barkkarie is Lynn Barkkarie, and if i'm not mistaken she is from Eugene,Ore. I have a pencil drawing by L.Barkkarie i procured in 1990. It is one of 20 artist proofs(if my memory serves me)and the only one with a bit of color contrasting the shades of grey from pencil. It's of an appaloosa with feather and trade cloth.

              I loved the first version of this book, "Don't Squat With Yer Spurs On". This book is as fresh as the first book, with the funny one-liners from a cowboy's point of view. This book outshines the first version in the visual department. The cover and illustrations are wonderful! The illustrations are the icing on the cake of quotes, directly related to each quip by an artist I suspect has a sense of humor equal to that of the author.

                In a critical writing course I taught in Spring 2002, I used Channels of Discourse, Reassembled as the core text for the course readings. The many chapters within are written by the best of the best in the fields of media studies and cultural studies, and the methodologies are presented in an easy-to-read manner which is informative and full of examples and case studies. This is an excellent book for media studies students, as its chapters lay out the basic information they should know about many of the methodologies often used in media criticism.

                I started reading this book in Memphis and finished it in New Orleans so geographically, my environment enabled me to get a flavor for the books' content. This book is quite conversational and easy to follow. Anyone interested in the personalities of the artists or other decision makers of this period will find it worth their time to get a copy.

                Some of the interviewees are quite philosophical as they put things in perspective in retrospect. Consider these comments:
                "But timing is everything. If you walk across the street one second you get across and everything's fine. You try it again five seconds later and a bus runs over you. . . sometimes it's just not in the cards at that particular time. There's no point in crying about it."

                This is an insightful book. In any human actions, relationships are important. This issue is addressed as a description of Sam Phillips' handling of artists is given, when we're told, "I think the most important thing I learned from being around Sam was, the thing I was most amazed by, was his ability to handle people, to the get the most our of people, to put people ata ease and get the most out of them."

                You can see large portions of the interviews are written just as people responded, without editing. That keeps the material lively and conversational.

                  I throughly enjoyed this book and fortune telling kit set. It's the only book that I've seen that covers one of the most authentic and oldest Chinese divination methods . The book covers the historical background of the divination stick methods and has several interesting tidbits on Chinese religion, the way of the Tao, Ying and Yang, and plus readings from the I-Ching. You do not have to believe in the Chineses deities to enjoy the book set.

This lively book features many short chapters, cartoons, bulleted axioms and what-to-do examples. However, much of the information seems very familiar, like a juiced-up version of hints, tips and advice that have appeared in many other customer service books. Thus, it has a kind of déjà vu quality. While someone who is experienced in this field may find the information here too familiar, we recommend this accessible volume as a great introduction to customer service.

                          "Knock Your Socks Off" is an easy to read, well-organized, thorough introduction to the crucial aspects of providing excellent customer service. I kept it on the corner of my desk and read it during lunch hours. The 31 short chapters (approx. 150 pages) can be finished in just a week or two. I intend to pass it along to the Customer Service Reps that work for me as "required reading" (or maybe even splurge and buy them their own copy!)

                          The book is organized in Four Parts:

                          1. The Fundamental Principles of Knock Your Socks Off Service - includes the RATER factors: Reliability, Assurance, Tangibles, Empathy, Responsiveness.
                          2. The How To's of Knock Your Socks Off Service - honesty, rules, doing the right thing, listening, asking questions, winning words and soothing phrases, telephone tips, writing skills, details, thank-yous.
                          3. The Problem-Solving Side of Knock Your Socks Off Service - how to fix problems, fix the person, apologize, and handling nasty customers.
                          4. Knock Your Socks Off Service Fitness - Taking Care of You - how to stay calm, professional, and competent and how to have fun doing it

                          Whether you're new to the business of providing customer service or a seasoned pro, this book will give lots of great advice and a positive perspective on the challenges of providing good customer service. I plan on using the book to help set goals and establish metrics for improving service at my company.

                          After two weeks of joining the service business I was eagerly looking for a book that discusses about delivering good--if not exceptional--service. My conclusion is that this book will meet your expectations if you are new to the business--just like me.

                          The authors provided many suggestions and recommendations in ways of delivering quality service. I read this book in the span of two-three months, and by the time I finished reading, I realized that I have been doing pretty much most of the things that the authors are suggesting. And based on my customer service feedback, the authors are pretty correct. So, I walked away knowing that I have been doing the right things and a few more ideas of how to improve my service level.

                          I would have given a five-star if I can find some of the chapters being elaborated further, such as those towards the end of the book. For example, I would like the chapter (Chapter 20) on Exceptional Servic Is in the Details being further elaborated as I found I need some suggesstions for carrying my service level to another level. Nevertheless, the book does give me some hints on areas to look into.

                          In conclusion, I would recommend this book to those who join the service industry for the first time and want to get some ideas on providing quality service. And for those who are searching for more, you will be refreshed and walk away with some good suggestions and pointers.
