I have been a fan of RoseLee Goldberg's books for years, but she really has out-done herself with this visually stunning book. She has captured the essence of performance pictorially without diluting the "live-art" aspect of it. Some of her chapters could be called mini-performances, themselves. Goldberg organizes her subject into conceptual chapters that keep the material from falling into strictly a popular phenomenon. A must buy for academics and non-academics alike. A great Christmas gift for an art lover. The pictures in this book are gorgeous and fun. A real treat.

My son is 10 and he LOVES this book!! He quotes it all the time and actually is now insistant that he is superior to all of us right handers.. I love that it makes him feel special!
My bible growing up..........2004-11-12
As a lefty child, this book was my bible. I searched high and low for a copy last year after realizing as a grow-up that it was still a book I could enjoy. It does a great job of de-mystifying dominant-handedness while dispensing some interesting biological facts about it (how it's a recessive gene, for example.) It's filled with humorous drawings and fun factoids (did you know that Gerald Ford writes left-handed sitting down, and right-handed standing up?) that anyone -- not just a lefty -- will appreciate. As an added bonus, it succeeds in its goal to provide a good source of self-esteem for lefties who feel left-out.
Welcome to the twilight zone.......2000-03-12
Not what I expected at all. If you are looking for a serious study of the left-hander THIS ISN'T IT. This is a childrens book, however it is a very funny one. The book cracked me up, probably worth what I paid for it. Good to read to children asking about left handers. It even has childrens pictures.

Production quality wipes away the smile.......2007-08-24
This hilarious little booklet contains the funniest Non-sequitur comic strips containing the "What She Said/What He Heard" theme. Unfortunately, it is so cheaply produced on poor quality paper that I wouldn't recommend it as a gift to anyone but a real fan of the genre. What a shame the production values weren't as high as the comic value.
Good, but it's actually a little-tiny thing.......2006-08-01
This is a good supplemental gift item. It's a pocket-size book of reprints from other collections in the tradition of those little inspirational booklets like "Happiness is a Warm Blanket" from Peanuts. However it has that extra loving touch of Wiley cynicism.
Seems to be the trend to warn people, and admittedly I was surprised when I got it, so here you go -- It looks like a standard newspaper trade paperback as presented on the site unless you "Look Inside" and notice the apparently huge text, so be warned (again).
Funny but skinny.......2005-12-27
The book is so funny because it is so true! Great illustrations that really add to the humor. This stuff is worth posting on the breakroom wall or on the refrigerator at home. Only complaint - the book is too small and too few pages. Miller's illustrations deserve a larger page, and I would have liked to see more content ... for that price.
Short.......2004-01-15
Wiley, as always, gives great insight - his cartoons are so incredibly funny because they're so very true. Whoever came up with the idea of 'male' and 'female' gave cartoonists endless material to work with.
Wiley's commentary, especially the signature "What she/he heard, what he/she said", is wonderful. I'm sure he's done lots more him/her work than included in this slim volume, and I wish it had been presented here. What's present in the book is worth five stars, but it was only enough to make me want more.
Outstanding relationship humor.......2003-08-07
Non Sequitur and Pooch Cafe are my favorite strips. This is a SMALL book so don;t be shocked when you get it -- but the content is great.

The Simpson's are one of those families that you gotta love and this picture album is tops when it comes to learning things about the Simpson's that you didn't know or refreshing the things that you do know. It's funny and is a great gift idea for any Simpson's fan!

I still am a huge Simpson fan,
And this book certainly is a WONDERFUL, detailed, edited
family photo album.
In order, starting from the first to the end, here it is...
The first part is The Simpsons Family Tree.
Then Simpson pictures, etc.
Then Marge as baby, (Patty and Selma as 3 year olds),
and Marge as a kid.
The next page is Homer as a baby, then the next as a kid.
After words, we are in Homer and Marge's high-school years about
4 pages worth.
Then when Homer and Marge get Married.
Then when Bart, Lisa and Maggie were born!
Finnaly, regular pictures of them today.
At the end, it's The Bouviers family tree!

I loved it. I saw it and just by the cover I knew I had to have it.If you are a true simpsons fan you should realy try to find this book asap. I loved both of the family trees and found out that in a way homer is related to burns! Tons of funny newspaper clips and pictures like one of bart holding a cigerate lighter in his hand at the hospital. Anyone who even likes the simpsons a little bit should get this book.

This book is a hard-to-find but fascinating and lightly-written look at film and its relationship with society. Warshow is elegant and interesting. If there are any publishers listening out there, my suggestion to you is to find this book, buy it, and reprint it

What I wanted..........2007-07-24
First off, I enjoyed reading this book. The history of the city tinged with Mythos lore made for a fun evening diversion. My practical use for the book in the game was more indirect, however.
I was running the players through "Look to the Future" in Shadows of Yog-Sothoth (which takes place in New York). I found this book to be extremely helpful in setting the mood for that chapter of the campaign. The characters wanted to know where hotels, restaurants, etc. were, and Secrets of New York delivered.
I haven't had the chance to run either scenario, but they both look promising.
I would certainly recommend this book to any Keeper.

This book or audio is great source for anyone that is in charge of people. A wonderful guide to get the best of those employees and to prepare you to be happier more motivated leader. I would recommend this read to anyone, it will make you a better person if you take his advise.
Read it Again.......2007-06-28
Several weeks ago I was re-organizing some books on one of my bookshelfs and picked up "How to Become a Great Boss" for the first time in several years. I love books like this one: easy to read, concise points and actionable. I grabbed a cup of coffee, sat down and read it again. It took less than an hour to read the book cover to cover. Re-reading this book helped me remember why I liked it so much the first time.
Reading the book again refocused me on the example I set for people who work for me and how my actions impact their actions. Fox makes the point that the Boss gets paid for the performance of his employees so it makes sense that if my actions hinder my employees' ability to perform then I'm not doing my job as the Boss.
This book will remain in my library.

Fun to Read-Well Organized-Great to Use Seperately Chapter by Chapter.......2005-09-21
This book is a really easy-to-read, practical book for those who want some fun ideas on how to share leadership qualities with managers or up and coming leaders in your organization.
It offers easy to understand philosophies and concepts that you don't have to read the whole book to understand. Pick a chapter and review it on your work team. Its benefits will be enormous!
If you want to become a great boss, don't read this.......2005-08-20
Fox uniquely attempts to give suggestions on how to keep the best employees. Fox divides his book into fifty short stories that sometimes include a real life situation. Many of his anecdotes have serious flaws in the basic principles of Organizational Behavior, while others do not fully explain how to handle potential problems. There are instances where his suggestions can be very useful in becoming a good manager. At other times, his stories have good concepts, but do have loopholes.
If you were interested in only seeing a small picture of the steps to becoming a great manager, then I would recommend this book to you. Fox's numerous weaknesses on motivation make me believe that he does not understand some of the basic concepts of motivation. Furthermore, his continual discussion of avoiding mishires, without any description on how to do that, further weakens his arguments. I believe this book is for more experienced managers and educated employees who know to extrapolate the good ideas in the book, and ignore the bad.
