The Roycrofters produced illustrated hand-bound books, Mission-style furniture, lamps, metal ware of black iron, copper, and bronze, as well as glass, ceramics, and leather. Mr. Boyer is a classic gentleman and in this one he writes about another.

If you have never read Mr. Boyer's works then you've missed out. Mr. Boyer's understanding of and love for classic menswear is evident and well researched. The prose is elegant and flows elegantly and as usual it is the stuff you'd expect from the man generally accepted as 'the man' in the realm of sartorial grace.

Mr Boyer has a unique way of sharing his love for the sartorial arts that makes you feel it - a rare literary ability.

I look forward to completing my collection of his work by getting this one signed along with his others. Whether you are a recent entrant to the business world or a gentleman who has appreciated the finer points of classic menswear and style for years this and all of Boyer's work is an absolute must read.

In every field there exists "The Authority". In the realm of classic men's style G. Bruce Boyer is that man. If you don't pick this up then may you spend eternity in polyester.

Nice Essay, Pretty Pictures, Thin on Substance.......2006-05-23

Fred Astaire was a marvelous dancer - he made dancing look easy. He was graceful and elegant. With Ginger Rogers, he made a bunch of screwball movies that were short on plot, but musically wonderful and with dancing that was something special.
Astaire was also an elegant dresser and that is what this very short book is all about. The essay explains Astaire's very special elegance and how he worked terribly hard to make things look very easy. It's nice, but at 15 pages or so, doesn't cover a whole lot of new ground. The pictures - many of them from Astaire's Hollywood days - are, of course, quite beautiful, but for all their charm - there's something missing.

Buy this for the Byrne art.......2006-02-24

Great stories from a time when comic book storytelling was very different. My only complaint is the two stories that do not feature Byrne's art. There is such a strong and sudden shift that it is jarring but this is part of a complete run of FF and to leave it out would not tell the whole story. Kind of wish Marvel and Bryne would put aside their issues and we could see new Byrne art for the covers of these collections!

Some Insight on One of Paris'es Great Singers.......2007-01-19

Edith Piaf writes about her life in her whimsical nature. She leaves off many details about her life as if her tragedies were an afterthought, but it also gives the reader insight on her character, a person who lived without regrets.

As spontaneous as she is, the translation, except for the typos, makes her words easy to follow and understand. There are some interesting passages regarding anecdotes in her life. The most interesting relate to how she was discovered, how she got her last name (Piaf is French slang for sparrow), and how one of her songs was based on a love story in her life. She sheds little information about the loss of her daughter and husband who died in a plane crash. She provided more insight on the murder of the man who discovered her. The middle chapters are not as interesting as she digresses a lot and overly focuses on the details of performance that aren't so interesting.

Her insight on encounters with famous people (Eisenhower, Charlie Chaplin, Dietrich, and Queen Elizabeth) was interesting, as well as her final chapter where she briefly discusses her routines and even her character.

Not much is specific. She leaves a lot of herself to be interpretted as she is has a typical spontaneous French temperament. Her description of her relationship with the audience was intriguing as well as her generalization of American audiences as being people who work so hard that they prefer entertainment to be "light" so as to give them an escape. Although I disagree with her opinion, I found her French perspective and interpretation of the American audience to be interesting. I recommend that prior to reading this you read biographies on Piaf. It will help you understand her nature in her autobiography. I counted many misspellings and typos throughout this book.

This is the best guide ever. It does not have a Snotedex. 'Tendo and Primer have a Snotedex though.

This says "Sabdshrew," which means "No mistakes." The sandy waterfalls, Tendo calls slippery slopes. Rock Crush. Tendo says Rock "Smash." "Smash" is a word for two-year-olds!

This is a big strategy guide. It'get you past everything. If you get Tendo or Prime, start over. You MUST 'gree with me!

Get this. If you don't, then you will get stuck.

Without a guide, you do great too. Buy this, you year-old!

GET NINTENDO OR PRIMA'S GUIDE...'NUFF SAID.......2005-04-30

I have all three Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire guides out there - prima's, nintendo's, and (shudders) brady's.

Bradygames' strategy guides either are downright awesome or downright bad, and this guide is answer B. This was the first of the three PR&S guides that I bought. I went home, played the game with the help of this guide, and without leaving Littleroot Town, went out to EBGames the next day and bought the Prima guide.

Bradygames includes a decent walkthrough of the game with detailed info, but that's about it. The guide has a list - just a basic list - of all the Pokemon, but forces you to buy a whole other $15 book to get info on the other Pokemon. May I note that in both Prima and Nintendo's guides, they include just as full Pokedexes but in the same guide? Yeah, that was a huge downside of the Bradygames' guide. Also, the walkthrough really could have been more detailed now that I think about it. After I compared the three guides, Nintendo had the best walkthrough, Prima came in second, and guess who came in last.

I'm getting tired of listing endless bad things about Brady's Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire guide, so I'll just say:
BUY NINTENDO OR PRIMA'S GUIDE...'nuff said!

I bought this guide and found that everything in it is exactly what I could have figured out on my own. No PokeDex and nothing about breeding pokemon except one lousy sentence. This guide is horrible! Buy a Prima or Nintendo guide instead if you want helpful information. This book is a dud...

It's strange how so many businesspeople I meet tend to be right-wing, anti-communist and great believers in personal freedom, yet run their businesses like Stalin's Russia. Workers are motivated by a mixture of fear and ambition and any individual opinion that deviates from the party line is seen as a threat.

I'm a manager. All I ask of my staff is that they're honest, work hard and treat everyone with respect. That's it. For my part I give them a clear idea of what I expect and make sure that they have the tools to do the job and receive recognition of their achievements. What I don't do is mess with their heads.

This book is symptomatic of a trend in management culture where it is not enough to ask people to do their jobs well, we now have to re-engineer their souls. The aim of this book is to motivate staff with 'fun' activities in staff training sessions, but the reality is intrusive and patronising. One game invites workers to mention a childhood achievement that they were particularly proud of and then get other members of the team to discuss it. Well, I believe in personal freedom and part of that is not feeling obliged to talk about personal things in a work setting.

Chairman Mao had his 'Cultural Revolution' and this smacks of the same attitude. It's not enough for people to do as they're told, they now have to have the right attitude and if they're not willing to be team players, they're out. It's like 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers'.

Buy this book to find out how emotionally dysfunctional people struggle to motivate teams and get it horribly wrong.

Big book of Lousy Ideas.......2005-10-06

This was a complete waste of money! The ideas were stale and elementary. Do not waste your money or your time flipping through it.
