Anecdotal, not rigorous.......2006-02-27
Fitzgerald favors sweeping statements like "Wittgenstein was obviously the greatest philosopher of the 20th century," and often uses diagnostic criteria that are true of a majority of people, e.g. liking animals, liking music, being creative. For example, the posthumous diagnosis of Lewis Carroll might seem convtroversial, given that the Wired magazine Asperger's quiz, which is 30 questions long, has 2 of those questions focused on the ability to play make-believe (apparently, people with Asperger's tend to lack it). Furthermore, saying that people with AS "suffered unbearably" and can do things "a hundred times better than the average person" may raise hackles among both AS so-called "sufferers" and the general population.
Good read... shame about the premise........2006-02-11
This is a selection of mini biographies of famous artists, writers, musicians and painters that specifically looks for indications of Asperger syndrome from the available evidence about what sort of people they were. It was certainly very interesting reading but I am not sure about the hypothesis that autism and creativity are linked. For every great artist listed here how many are there that don't fit the diagnostic criteria of AS? Furthermore, the author often seems to just assume autism is the cause of the behaviours he describes, when he can't really know for certain... Historians and scientists beware, the lack of objectivity will leave you cringing. Despite this though I was engrossed from beginning to end and as a person who is diagnosed AS myself I felt better for discovering that, for whatever reason, many of these people faced similar difficulties to myself.

Futurama face without the personality.......2007-08-31
The only way this comic would be tolerable is if you enjoyed the show and can actually visualize the action according to the physics, action, and fun of the original cartoon. Even Futurama fans may find this comic a tough pill to swallow for their Futurama fix.
Though the art is solid and familiar, the writing and stories are ridiculously sub-par. i would much rather watch the worst Futurama episodes over again than read any of the comics in this trade paperback.
The writers occasionally attempt to interject some of the ongoing gags to make it feel like Futurama. Like everyone's disdain for Zoidberg. Common exclamatory phrases (Sweet Zombie Jesus!) and the like. But take all those out, and you just have stories that made me realize that they CAN make bad Futurama stories.

i was dissapointed in this book. the jokes arent funny, and the story drags on.the drawings and color are great. buy it if you are a fan. otherwise.. no

This is a collection of a few futurama comics. If you miss the
best TV show about life the year 3001 ever made, you should
buy it. But that most probably also means that you are a nerd.

FUTURAMA LIVES!!!.......2005-04-15
Futurama-O-Rama includes the first four comic books that have come out: a) Monkey Sea, Monkey Doom, b) ... But Deliver Us to Evil, c) The Owner of Mars Attacks, and d) Doop the Right Thing. Since the cancellation of the show (@#$$%%@@&^*!...), it's been pretty hard without Fry and the gang, but Futurama still lives on through these comics. Overall, it's a GREAT book; the stories and the dialogues are EXCELLENT, as for the witty humor and the characters... they are all there!
In short, it's a keeper!
PS BRING BACK THE SHOW!!!
Good Art, Lame Writing.......2004-06-21
As a fan of the TV show, Futurama, I picked up this comic to get a little more of that Futurama fix. I was really let down by the comic though. First, I want to say that the art is excellent in this comic and the artists have really captured the feel of the Futurama world. Unfortunately the stories are deadly boring. It seems like they passed off the writing to the writers who were rejected from the show. There is absolutely nothing funny about the stories, and they hardly make any sense. The flow of the stories is like watching someone pouring lumpy gravy. I can't imagine anyone enjoying what passes for comedy in this comic. If you really must have this for the artwork, then it's OK. Just don't bother reading it. For the fans of Futurama, just stick with the DVDs of the TV show and you won't be disappointed.

Lengthy entries point out interesting or innovative features of the zombie portrayal in each movie, while an introduction traces the evolution of the genre and interprets the broader significance of the zombie in contemporary Western mythology. Productions credits, a brief plot summary, and alternate titles accompany each entry.

Peter Dendle, The Zombie Movie Encyclopedia (McFarland, 2001)
Dendle tries to come up with an exhaustive compendium of zombie flicks and review them all. He does quite a good job with the reviews (there are some laugh-out-loud funny one-liners, and the requisite pack of odd bits of trivia that only dedicated film fans would know), but he does miss a few major films (Bio-Zombie and Wild Zero being the first two that come to mind) and a slew of minor ones. That aside, though, what's here is a great way for the zombie movie fan to find a number of releases he or she probably missed over the years and commence hunting them down. Dendle's views are at times refreshingly counter to the norm (he finds use for Oasis of the Zombies, for example, and considers Fulci's Zombi 2 superior to the same director's The Beyond), and overall this is a valuable addition to the book collection of any horror film fiend. *** ½
Enjoyable but awfully expensive.......2005-08-10
While I enjoyed this book and found it to be very comprehensive, I do think it a tad overpriced at $35.
It isn't very long, and the short entries about the film and TV episodes make it most suitable for bathroom reading.
I recommend it, but think it would be better value as a paperback, if it is ever issued as one.

This book is a must be for anyone fan of zombie movies or horror fans, the movies are well described and commented, all classical zombies movies are there, although a few zombies movies (or realted) are missing but the final result is extremely positive and fullfill a gap in the genre. Anyone searching information on zombies movies will find this book a great help.

The main difference, I find, between someone who is a zombie movie fan and someone who calls themself a zombie movie fan, is that a real fan...I mean, this is a person who is serious about their zombie movies...will own this book. This person may even buy copies of it for their friends and family, because, when you love someone, you want the best for them. This person may even want to consider getting Peter's name tattooed on their forearm inside a little heart, so as to never forget the name of the man who pointed them in the right direction to fullfill all their zombie needs (as if they could forget!)
So, can you call yourself a zombie movie fan?

Covers all great Zombie movies i can think of, a must for Zombie fans, and Horror fans alike, a great read for the Un-Dead.

Kevin Hogan is a great storyteller that makes something as complicated as Persuasion techniques seem easy. His humor and dedication to the reader in presenting the information manner that is easy to understand is greatly appreciated. I highly recommend this book to any one trying to gain a competitive edge. The section in the book explaining where to sit in a resturant is worth the price of the book alone! Priceless.

It is complete, concise and well written. Kevin Hogan helps you stop thinking "magic" when it comes to persuasion and shows you the who, what, when, where, why and HOW.

This book is a must read for anyone in sales - period
This is a very well written book. It is a great tool for anyone who makes a living by having to persuade and influence others. Kevin Hogan has a very simplified process with his "Paradigm of Persuasion" approach which is built on a win-win philosophy for both the seller and the customer.
I really like the detail and examples that the author has provided in this book. Dr. Hogan speaks to the "laws" of persuasion and various ethical persuasion techniques. He also describes in detail how non verbal communication and proxemics have a direct impact on the customer's buying decision criteria. This book also goes into great detail on building instant rapport with the customer and how to effectively communicate with the different personality styles.
This book is definitely one, that after you have read it, will become a reference book for years to come.

The 9 laws of persuasion are real gems and can be easily and quickly be placed into any selling environment.
Reciprocity, Expectancy, Consistency the list is one in which you'll want to remember as you will rely on their information for many many years.
I can personally vouch that this book as well as other from Kevin Hogan has literally transformed my selling, my social interaction and career path.
I can not stress how much every person involved in persuading (every one) needs to own a copy of this master piece.
