Book Description
The first in-depth portrait of one of the world's best-known luxury brands, this elegant volume traces the remarkable history of the House of Vuitton, which has been making practical but stylish luggage, handbags, and accessories for more than 150 years. Written with full access to the company's archives, the book itself demonstrates Louis Vuitton's passion for fine design in a stunning array of archival art, historical images, product designs and sketches, and cutting-edge advertising.
Author Paul-Gerard Pasols, former communications director and longtime consultant to Louis Vuitton, explores the company's tradition of quality and innovation in the context of sweeping changes in society, art, culture, fashion, and, above all, travel. Examining the life and times of the company's first three leaders-founder Louis (who invented the modern trunk), his son Georges, and his grandson Gaston-the text focuses on the firm's development under their guidance. It also discusses Vuitton's explosive growth toward the end of the 20th century, including the 1987 merger with Moët-Hennessy that made it part of LVMH, the world's largest luxury goods company, and spurred the expansion of its boutiques to more than 300 locations in 50 countries around the globe.

WAY TOO EXPENSIVE..........2006-07-28
WAY TOO EXPENSIVE...ILLUSTRATIONS ARE JUST AS GOOD AS WHAT YOU FIND ONLINE...EBAY EVEN. HISTORY IS HIGHLY INFORMATIVE, HOWEVER. THANKS.
Beautiful........2006-05-30
Fantastic history and beautiful illustrations. It has almost everything you've wanted to know about Louis Vuitton.
Plus great pictures so you can see what all the fuss is about!
Full of History.......2006-05-20
This book is filled with the history of the company from the person, Louis Vuitton's childhood, up through the generations that came after him. There are pictures of LV pieces scattered throughout the book. Not enough for those of us who love to look at LV bags and luggage. Overall a great addition to a collectors collection. The book retails in the boutique for $135.
Tres Magnifique!.......2005-11-27
This is a must have for all LV officianados. I have been collecting and using LV for over twenty-one years. This is an excellent literary and pictorial compilation of La Maison de Vuitton. Cudos! to the author, publisher, and of course La Maison de Vuitton for their continued commitment to perfection, elegance, and extrordinary products. Cudos, to the artisians for their pain-staking perfectionism in creating such works of art. This book is a tribute to over 150 years of leathercrafting, and now within the past 5 years pret-de-porte, couture, and precious metals. Vuitton continues to allow those of us loyal to the House to continue pushing the boundaries of style and fashion, and subtly encouraging admirer's of the House to indulge.
Life is a journey, so why not travel with the best. Well done LV! Tres magnifique!
Excellent History of the Vuitton Empire.......2005-11-23
If you are a Louis Vuitton collector as I am, or LV enthusiast, this tome will be a magnificent addition to your collection, or to your library. It is full of remarkable LV family history and full of the most beautiful photographs, some suitable for framing.
It contains manyo of the LV Posters for example, that I've tried to collect, and now have them in this book. It could make a wonderful coffee table book this holiday season.
One drawback: The center page is wonderful but terribly flawed by the center binding. It should have been a pull-out page instead.
I also saw it on eBay for more dollars and listed as "rare". Hardly!
Enjoy it.
Book Description
In 1999, The Comics Journalthe most respected magazine about the artform of comics since the mid-1970s - named Krazy Kat the greatest example of the artform in the history of the medium.
In 1999, The Comics Journal named Krazy Kat the greatest example of the artform in the history of the medium.
"Krazy Kat has been the acknowledged greatest comic for so long, by so many esteemed critics, that it becomes tempting to knock it from its perch," wrote the editors of The Comics Journal in 1999. "At a casual glance, George Herriman's long-running strip seems quaint and antiquated. But to immerse yourself in Krazy Kat, to yield to Herriman's looping verbal rhythms and lovingly-depicted desert backgrounds, to experience his perfectly-realized triptych of unspoken and unconsummated love, yields a very, very different result. Herriman's creation is not only great comics, with a wonderful command of the medium's possibilities and strengths, but is also great artan affecting exploration of some of life's most basic issues in a way that enlightens and thrills. Every cartoonist who turns to comics as a medium of personal expression follows in Herriman's path, and that is why his is the greatest comic of the 20th Century."
Fantagraphics is proud to re-present Krazy Kat to a new generation of readers, collecting what many consider to be Herriman's prime: all 104 full-page, B&W Sunday strips from 1925 and 1926 (Herriman did not incorporate color into the strip until 1935).
Krazy Kat is a love story, focusing on the relationship of its three main characters. Krazy Kat adored Ignatz Mouse. Ignatz Mouse hated Krazy Kat, the expression of which was in throwing bricks at Krazy's head. Offisa Pup loved Krazy and sought to protect "her" (Herriman always maintained that Krazy was genderless), mostly by throwing Ignatz in jail. Each of the characters was ignorant of the other's true motivations. This simple structure allowed Herriman to build entire worlds of meaning into the actions, building thematic depth that led critics like Gilbert Seldes and e.e. cummings to recognize Herriman's genius almost immediately.
Krazy & Ignatz is designed by Chris Ware, creator of the wildly successful graphic novel Jimmy Corrigan (Pantheon Books, 2000).

Happy Land between the pages........2007-09-04
Herriman finds his metier. Krazy waxes eloquent. Ignatz waxes his brick.
Offica Pup keeps the peace.
A must-read.......2007-01-11
If you are a fan of comics as an art-form, you should probably be familiar with Krazy & Ignatz. Thanks, Fantagraphics, for committing to these great collections.
Ballet In Pen And Ink........2005-08-15
I came upon Krazy Kat recently while doing research on early comic strips. My intent was to follow the older strips to see how they have progressed into what they are today.I was surprised to find that no modern strip adds anything to this early work of art or comes close to being its' equal. There has been much praise over the years for George Herrimans' work and if I can add one thing I would say get all these titles you can. This was as good as it will ever get.
To everyone who claims comics are just for children..........2004-09-13
I'm absolutely blown away every time I pick up this book. I'd heard it referred to by everyone from Max Speigelman to Bill Watterson himself, artist of Calvin & Hobbes, but hadn't ever seen it, being born a number of decades after it had left the papers. I decided to pick it up, since as an aspiring comic artist, I figured it'd be a good idea to take a look at something credited by Bill Watterson.
The comics are absolutely amazing. The art is playful, sometimes delicate, sometimes bold, but masterfully executed and always artistic, a quality so often missing from modern comics. And the text is just as amazing - it always strikes me as poetry in word bubbles. Anyone and everyone who enjoys art, poetry, comics, or humor owes it to themselves to pick up at least one of these volumes.
Yes.......2003-06-24
Every man, woman, and child should own a complete set of George Herriman's Krazy Kat, but that's currently impossible cos so much of it is out of print (or has never been reprinted). Thanks for getting this thing started again, Fantagraphics, and hopefully you'll get the financial support to see this thing through.
If you know nothing of Krazy and Ignatz, I can only invite you to slide into their surreal world. Words won't do it justice. Krazy is yin, Ignatz is yang. You figure it out.
Book Description
Teen Angst: A Celebration of Really Bad Poetry is the first, the best, and the biggest collection of teen angst poetry ever to be published. Inspired by the popularity of her interactive website, editor Sara Bynoe has compiled the definitive teen angst reader. Divided into 12 categories, including I am Alone and No One Understands My Pain and Obvious Metaphors, this book is for anyone who has ever written truly terrible, meditative, or self-indulgent poetry. Actually, this book is for anyone who survived being a teenager. All of the poets featured in this collection are now adults, living happy, angst-free lives. However, for this special book, they are willing to reveal excerpts from their old tattered notebooks or leather bound journals. Along with the poems, each poet has included a short introduction, giving background information for each work. As Sara Bynoe says, looking back on teen angst poetry brings people together in a "poetry reading meets stand-up comedy meets AA" sort of way.
Customer Reviews:
Terribly Funny.......2007-08-17
The first and definitive work of its kind, this anthology contains poems written in the heat of intense adolescent emotional distress and introduced by the now angst-free adults who wrote the poems. Although these authors lack the literary pretentiousness enjoyed by true poetasters, their work is equally terrible. Arrangement is by such adolescent-appropriate topics as Breakups--I Will Never Love Again Poems and I Am Alone--and No One Understand My Pain Poems, etc.
One of the best parts of this truly comical collection is editor Sara Bynoe's eight step plan for teens interested in writing angst poetry. Bynoe's anthology was inspired by content from her website.
Disappointing.......2006-03-08
Far from being the promised "pee your pants laugh fest", Teen Angst is an utterly generic - and bland - collection. Although one of two of the poems evoked a grin, for the most part, these are thoroughly unremarkable, and a far cry from being "so bad they're good". I found the blurbs leading into each of the entries much more interesting than the actual poems, establishing the context in which each was written, but still felt as though something was missing. Great idea, but strangely unfunny.
Sara "Genius" Bynoe.......2005-03-22
Who'd of thought that the person who would exploit the teen writing poems about being misunderstood by adults, would be the adult that teen became? Sara Bynoe! That's who!
Pure angst magic, wit, and swearing, brought together for you in this fabulous book.

Entertaining & revealing.......2007-02-22
Like with most public figures, reading about the growth path of this talented star was enjoyable. Written by her brother, a public figure himself, was well done and informative. The perspective is unique and comes across as "telling it like it was".
sibling rivalties.......2006-06-03
Like most people, i initially thought, "oh great, i want to read about jodie, but this guy's going to spend most of the book talking about himself." the irony is, as the book went on, i realized, his life seemed a lot more interesting than hers, and if anything, i wanted to know more about his life. Jodie's life seems more cut and dry, boring, and conservative.
The first half of the book is interesting as it details how much resentment buddy holds for his mother, and colours in what we dont know about jodie's upbringing. The 2nd half of the book was slower going as it was clear buddy didnt have much interaction with his sister since the late 70's, and most of the information is filler gleaned from interviews.
I spent a lot of the book thinking, man, this guy does seem to love his family, and he did seem to go out of his way to be fair and honest, but boy oh boy, for a who wants his family to be closer together, you gotta figure this book just might blow it further apart than ever.
a brother loves his sister.......2003-02-15
Well, Buddy Foster may or may not have written this book for the $$, but after reading it, despite the fact that he probably made his sister really mad at him for disclosing all the family foibles, secrets, etc., it so so apparent that this is a brother who geniunely loves his sister. I like seeing that. As a baby sister myself, I know how terrific it feels for your siblings to adore you. It's a sweet deal. I hope that by now (what is it? five years later; today is 2/14/03), Jodie fully realizes that and has forgiven Buddy. He seems like a pretty nice fellow despite his admitted faults.
pretty good.......2002-10-05
i thought the book was pretty good. i agree with what someone said earlier. we want to hear about jodie not about buddy and all of his complaints, but i thought he did a pretty good job. jodie seems like such an interesting person. its funny b/c everytime i see her, even in her recent movies, she will make some facial expression and it will remind me of freaky friday. i love that movie. anyway, this is the only "jodie" book that i have read but i'm reading another one so i'll have something to compare it to. i wish that she would write and autobiography. that would be cool.
Far better than what the first two reviews say.......2002-03-08
I read this book, and I read "The Royals" by Kitty Kelly. There is all the difference in the world between the two books. The first is an unpleasant book written by an unpleasant woman, which uses second and third hand gossip who has nothing but contempt for its subject matter. "Foster Child," on the other hand, has a great deal of respect for the woman at its core, which does not stop it from dwelling on her weaknesses, as any good biography should.
Those familiar with what is known about Jodie Foster will find few real surprises. It is generally known, for instance, that she is frightenly intelligent; and that she has, with one or two exceptions, never acted in or directed a movie she didn't really want to do, but once committed devotes herself wholeheartedly. It also been surmised that in terms of a love life, she looks at the person and not the gender; a common trait with highly educated, irreligious people. That she is understandably guarded with her privacy, that she does not suffer fools gladly, or that she has something of a cold streak personally, do not come as a surprise either. All of these are elaborated on in this book.
What is particularly germaine in the book is Buddy's revelations of the Foster family, a high strung, tumultuous family if there ever was one. Speaking first hand, we have his account of the wars between the ambitious mother of the Foster brood, Brandy, and their USAF officer father Lucius. They divorced while Brandy was pregnant with Jodie, but they had several break-and-smash reunions afterward.
Buddy's respect for his sister particularly shines in the analysis he gives her movies, notably her directorial efforts "Little Man Tate" and "Home for the Holidays." He comes out understanding the latter film better than most of the critics did.
While reading this, I could feel the disapproving eyes of Ms. Foster over my shoulder, and I'm sure Buddy is to this day subject to his sister's shunning. I'm sure, as well, that the onetime Mayberry actor wrote the book for some needed money. (Buddy fesses up well to his own professional and personal failings.) But the resultant book is by no means a tabloid effort, and due to it I have come to a better appreciation of this unique lady and talent his sister is.

Product Description
Name it, and we have a fear for it. Cars are potentially dangerous, yes. The key word here is potentially. Drive defensively, of course, because you can never control other drivers. Learn, somehow, to consciously relax in previously stressful situations. One method is to use subliminal audio to get your fears under control or even eliminate them. This one targets the subconscious, of course, and can be effective in shifting your common sense view of safety deeper where it does the most good. Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), brainwave generator technology and ultrasonic, ultra-silent subliminal track included.
Product Description
This subliminal CD is for individuals who are dealing with a loved ones dysfunctionality, addiction or behavioral problem. Its content is a combination of stress relief and relaxation subliminal messages to help you in your present situation. Music, masking sounds and brainwave generator, NLP and state-of-the-art subliminal audio are included in this title. Ultra-silent subliminal track added at the end so dont turn it off when the audible sounds are finished!
Customer Reviews:
I have been very very pleased with every CD .......2007-09-27
I tried this CD because has music, I also have one with only Ocean Waves and on final track you hear nothing being silent.
I feel great and I will recommend for someone that like to relax and listen some music with nature sound.
When I am working I am using the silent subliminal. No one knows.
Customer Reviews:
Standing ovation.......2007-07-24
Ok the idea to divide the book in 5 aspects that are the Maidens purviews was an excellent move. The one that came with that idea is a genius, really. I thought something like that and when I saw it done, it was WOOOOOAW.
The idea to have technomagic is great. Final Fantasy inspired no doubt.
Creating some sorcerous craft as to be able to manufacture scientific advanced gadgets also a clean move. That they can be repaired and maintained and have high-level power in exchange of certain rituals, oils, reargents and periodic tune ups is great idea. The warstriders rule.
The idea of been able to have Genetics and mutate life is also a nice idea, yet it lacks many more examples, many more rules and somehow needs more clarification cause somehow I felt it small in comparison to all the combat-related artifacts.
The book has over 100 examples ready to use and also ready to tamper with and even enahcing and mixing em.
A must have in the Exalted collection.
Worth every cent! [or peso]
L3wT!.......2006-06-19
Ah, magical artifacts...and when they're technomagical artifacts, all the better. This is a very imaginative collection of items--combat and noncombat--for Exalted Storytellers to tempt their players with, or to equip opponents with. Vehicles (for getting around the enormous distances of Creation), armor and weapons, battlefield equipment, and a great many things to make life easier (or in some cases, much harder). The section on warstriders is particularly tasty.
This book also expands the Exalted backstory, letting us know how magical-technology developed and was used in the goldan age of the Solar Deliberative, and how it has fallen to its current state.
There are only two things keeping this from getting five stars: First, I was hoping for more detailed rules on artifact construction, to help me figure out exactly how many background points an item is worth. Second, I was *really* hoping for a lot more Sorcery spells! As in the 1st edition, the 2nd Edition core rules have only a few spells, and you would think the first Book of Sorcery would rectify that. Nope: this volume has only artifacts.
For what it is, it's great. We'll just have to wait for a later volume to get those spells.
Amazing book...........2006-05-29
This book is packed full of incredible devices for any one who enjoys Exalted. The book has a wealth of knolage from the first age as well as the age of sorrows.
The book has a few sections in it that divide the items by uses, that is the only way i can discribe it. There is a giant amount of artifacts that have nothing to do with combat, and then others that are. There is a section on warstriders, basicly single man "death machines" that basicly look like Large Metal Robots.
Most of the items in this volume are very well detailed and all have pictures that show you what they would more that likely look like. I don't like saying that IS what they look like because, well, this is RPing people, things change by a player/GM's perception.
Anyway, enough of my ramblings, This book rocks and has items that range from pens to armor to boots to Royal Class Warstriders. This book is about gear in the world of Exalted.
P.S. It looks like there is going to be about 4 more of these books. My best guess is that one will be for Sorcery, but that is just one book. If you think of anything else, post it here to give me some ideas on the other ones.

Customer Reviews:
Excellent Book!.......2007-08-03
This book was very helpful for me to determine what to say and how to convey my message professionally. I highly recommend this book to anyone in the workplace.
Management Book.......2007-07-15
Another recommendation from my management class. Very useful examples for various situations. It will be very helpful and one of my reference books.
Must have.......2006-12-24
I bought this while interviewing and now I keep it at work. I got the job I wanted with my top salary request. Useful, easy to understand and put into practice. Things you didn't realize about posture, facial expressions, simple phrasing, voice tone, etc. Great investment.
Is this a vocabulary review?.......2005-09-10
I was more interested in reading about different perspectives in the business environment, and the most effective way to communicate between different roles. I did not buy the book to memorize long lists of words and phrases - the "good" ones and the "bad" ones.
The lists really put me off. They do get the right concepts across, in their own inept way, but they aren't all-inclusive, and it only stands to reason that sometimes they'll be wrong, depending upon the situation. Sure words are powerful, but delivery is everything. Body language, attitude, and neutral words used in the wrong way can have the same effect as words on the "bad" list, so the lists hardly make sense. I think the only time I will use these lists will be when I want to mock the late 90's and early 2000's with tired, overused phrases that I really can't stand to hear anymore. This book is at such a superficial level that it isn't even about communication.
Excellent and essential book for everyone.......2004-10-07
I started teaching people to make PowerPoint presentations around 1992. Around 1995, I realized that many people were talking about themselves, so I suggested that the most important word they could use was "You." In 2003, I realized that people who wanted to be accepted by their audience should use the word "We." And then I picked up this book and read that the the three most important words in a business person's vocabulary were "we," "us," and "our." And that was on page eleven. At that point I was sold.
It's very easy to open your mouth and say your message in a way that alienates people. Very few people can negotiate difficult communications, but this book will help them do this. The book shows you words, phrases and body language to use and to avoid. It has numerous samples of conversations you can have with your fellow workers to put yourself in the best position.
The book covers all kinds of spoken business communications - the four largest sections include Getting a Job, speaking with your Supervisors, your Colleagues, and your Subordinates. Other groups are Prospective Clients, Current Clients, Handling Credit, Collection, and Customer Complaints, Vendors and Suppliers, and Lenders and Investors. In many cases you'll see the traps you can fall into.
You need to use this book with a little thought, in that the circumstances are usually similar to what you have to deal with, but not identical. But a few minutes' reading will change you from being a tongue-tied person to someone who achieves what you want.
I feel sorry for people who dismiss this and other similar books as "just common sense." I've known few people who possessed even a fraction of the skills shown in this book, and my own experience shows that I spent over ten years learning the information that appears in the beginning of the book.
Definitely a must-have, and a good book to build your general communications skills. And you'll stop coming away from meetings thinking, "I wish I could have said that better."
